Yelp led us here today. We wanted to get samoon from the Baghdad Bakery, but they are closed on Mondays. A reviewer said the Olive Tree Market sells their samoon, so we headed here. We would never have known about it on our own. We saw the bread immediately, and it was the same price as at the Baghdad--($3/4 loaves). The rest of the shop was pretty much the same as most Mediterranean markets. They had lots of spices, a small meat counter, some nuts, cheeses and some frozen items. I was hoping to see a fresh olive bar (they are the "Olive Tree," after all!), but they didn't have one. Prices were reasonable, but the frozen foods prices seemed a bit on the high side. read more

Great array of spices and Mediterranean/Lebanese goods. Was able to get ground lamb and leg of lamb at fair prices. They even had beef bacon! I haven't been able to find that anywhere. And good frozen good options as well. And I loved their fig jams, olive options and olive oil options. Will continue to shop here for my middle eastern grocery needs. Support local!! read more

Selling old meat. I sent my husband to get some goat meat and beef. I froze the goat and took it out in less than in a month from the freezer, the bones were all brown and the meat smell disgusting that I threw it away. Well I went there again, and told what happened and they literally ignored me, I was like what just happened her...he ignored me. read more

I will never come back again they are so expensive compare to other arab markets. I spent over $180 and this food will only last me for a week..... I dont understand why arab markets are so expensive and over charge us for stuff that we dont have access to here in the states. Really rethink your prices because other markets are charging a decent price for things. I have left very disappointed and wish to come and return the 4 bags of grocerys we have because this just doesnt make sense. read more

I have gone to this store more than 10+ times now to buy meat (always chicken). The first time I got a whole chicken cut, I washed it at home and it turned out great. The second time, I don't know why I decided to get the chicken which had the BBQ spices on it. I was so excited to make it because it meant I didn't have to clean for another hour. Holy molly it was horrible. My husband washed the chicken AGAIN (after it had been cooked) and re-made it. In other words the stuff which is pre-marinated is not good. It's generally older chicken they are trying to sell. However I don't think there is anything wrong on that but at least the meat should be properly washed prior to being seasoned. Moving on, the next few times I got the chicken everything was good, so check mark there. The second to last time, I got chicken, it had been frozen. I could tell when I was washing it. It was frozen solid on the inside. My problem was actually the last time I went. My husband and I like the Midamar frozen chicken patties. Olive Tree just happens to carry these. They are between $7 for a pack of 6 so they are on the pricier side but overall really good and easy to make. They hadn't gotten these in stock for a few days so one of the managers told me he could make me fresh chicken patties in the back for about the same price. I need to mention that I only wanted comparable chicken patties because DUH that's why I went there. It should also be noted that this is CARY, there are like 10 other grocery stores nearby who happen to carry frozen halal food. We are not in a state of crisis for chicken patties. So if this store couldn't produce similar chicken patties, I honestly would not have cared. Anyway moving on, I wasn't shown what these patties looked like and was told I needed to buy at least two pounds. So finally at the end when I saw the patties they just look like squished pieces of chicken with spices and there were 4 patties total for a whopping $12.48. Are you freaking kidding me? Why on earth would I or anyone pay $3.12 for an uncooked kebab patty which they will have to go home and make for themselves and spend an hour preparing? Let's put this in perspective, the delicious already made koobadeh kebab at Flame Kebab is $4. If I wanted to pay so much for food, I would just get take-out at: Jasmin, Flame Kebab, Kababish, Bosphorous, Greek Fiesta, mashaAllah the list goes on and on. I am so embarrassed to say that I actually walked out of the store without paying. May Allah swt forgive me as I have never done that in my entire life but Wallahi I just could not convince my brain to pay so much for an uncooked patty which didn't look anything like what I wanted. The manager did try to convince me that they are really good kebabs...which I am sure they are, but one should be fair with their pricing. To be honest, if this item was as good as advertised, I am sure people would be lined up to get the patties so that they could take them home and spend 40 minutes making them, followed by 20 mins of cleaning their kitchen. Just saying. I would only go to this store because it is one mile distance from my house. As mentioned earlier the meat was good on some days and on other days, not so much. There are several other halal meat stores in the area which I would recommend over this. I am truly sad about writing this review because I thought I had found my go to Halal place! read more

This place is great for any Mediterranean items that you might need. I've visited 4 times and have been impressed on each trip. My most recent time in the Olive Tree Market surprised me when I discovered pitas (white and whole wheat) that had just been delivered from the bakery and were still warm! The feta cheese selection seems to grow every time I go...and the new olive bar is great! There are many canned goods, candies, desserts, and various other cooking items. I haven't tried anything form the butcher shop yet, but do intend to do so soon. Overall, this is a great place to get some unusual items without breaking the bank. read more

This grocery store is kind of just creepy and a lot of the shelves are empty. For almost anything they do carry, I know of better specialty stores nearby that have friendlier staff and are organized more logically. I probably won't be coming back here. read more

Have been buying halal meat from Olive Tree for a couple of years now. In fact, my wife and I moved away from the area to Virginia and still drive to down to pick up meat from here. They're the cleanest, most knowledgeable and professional halal butcher I've ever bought from. They've been reliable every time we've placed an order (they're great about following up with a phone call when they say they will) and they cut the meat any which way you want. We've picked up fresh goat, organic chicken and great cuts of beef. The kind of stuff you can only get from a real butcher (entire tenderloins, skirt steak etc.) Also a great choice from high quality mediterranean foods (olive oil, cheese & spices). By far they have the freshest meat around. It's like an old school butcher shop and you can customize how you want your meat cut and prepared. You can even call ahead so you do not have to wait in line. There is a great selection of Turkish and Middle Eastern products as well as some Indian items. The owner of this place and employ working back in meat shop both have the nasty attitude and they are very biased only like picked customers. Today is my third-time visit and shop which was last. Once I asked the owner and make sure the price of what I bought because over charges issue with them and he had attitude problem right away as a customer I want to compare his price with other Hala meat shops around and make my shop comfortable, but he don't want to understand that part. I have a bad experience today and highly recommend to all Hala meat eater community this is a wakeup call for all of us because this kind of people led us down the front of other community. Also, they sell bad meat (no fresh) sometimes I doubted if they have Zabiah Halala and I'm not going there anymore. Their biased behavior lost one of the good customer. read more

Wonderful neighborhood gem! Most impressive are the butcher services. It is a Middle-Eastern grocery store and the meat dept. is halal. The meat handling area is immaculate. Prices are very reasonable compared to farmers' market vendors and national chain stores. They will also take special orders for specific cuts. The inventory keeps expanding, so this location will soon be very competitive with existing Mediterranean food stores in the Triangle. Location close to Cary Crossroads Shopping Center makes it convenient to all points in Wake County. read more

Great place for fresh food! Olives are fantastic tasting and no white spots.. Great selection of grains in bulk bins (never seen this before?). Also learned that the produce comes from the local farmer's market (so it has not been stored in excessively cold temperatures that make it go from ripe to dry in 24 hours).
