Good, affordable, local proteins! I stopped by their booth at the Farmers Market on a Sunday afternoon. The Farmers Market was not overly crowded since it was later in the day. Mae Farm's booth is located inside the main building. I knew roughly where it was and then just followed the smell of sausage until I found it. The employee working the booth was cooking up sausage and handing out samples. I definitely wish I bought some since the sausage was packed with flavor. I did purchase a dozen eggs and two ribeye steaks. The eggs are good. One of the dozen was bad, which was not a big issue. The steaks were frozen. This worked out well since I could not cook them right away. We cooked them up today and they tasted okay, pretty average. I do want to return to purchase some of their sausage. They reuse egg cartons, so you can bring the carton back. The employee working the booth was friendly and provided information about the farm, the meat/eggs, and how the animals are raised. Overall, it was a good experience and I would return here.

Great place to pick up your weekly meats, milk, cheese and other great treats. Kids love coming just to see what they have.

Sunday, March 29 I went to the meat department to look for a bone in ribeye the world it's on sale…read morefor seven or eight dollars a pound and they were out but that's fine. I got I got a $20 regular New York strip. It's beautiful and the guy that worked the meat department. I could tell he was tired like they've been hit hard. They were out of like so much stuff because I didn't go in there late in the evening, but he was very nice and very professional and checkout was fast and easy.

I have mixed feelings writing this because parts of my experience were lovely, but the management…read morecompletely ruined it. I've lived in Raleigh for 14 years, and while I've enjoyed a few things from The Fresh Market before, I had never tried their bakery items. When I saw them on the Too Good To Go app, I decided it was the perfect excuse to run out and try it. My first two interactions were fantastic--the lovely elderly woman in the bakery and the sweet cashier checking me out were absolutely amazing and treated me with genuine kindness. However, the front-end manager (I believe her name was Tip or Tiff) completely ruined the experience. Her demeanor was an absolute deterrent. In an interaction that lasted less than three minutes, she hounded the cashier, repeating four or five times: *"Make sure you watch her scan it on the app."* The first time she said it, I thought nothing of it--just standard store process. But repeating it aggressively that many times while I, a Black customer, am just standing there rubbed me entirely the wrong way. To make matters worse, I had also picked up a granola bar to purchase. The manager came over *again*, hounding the girl: *"What are you doing? I have to make sure. Did you actually see her scan it?"* I felt incredibly sorry for the poor cashier, and frankly, I felt targeted. It is deeply frustrating to still deal with people acting like I don't belong in spaces where I absolutely do--and it's even more disheartening when that energy comes from another minority. If I had known I'd be treated with that level of baseline suspicion, I wouldn't have even spent money on the granola bar. That manager's behavior completely turned me away from ever spending my money at this store again. I truly hope this is a lesson for her in how she treats people. To the sweet cashier and the wonderful woman in the bakery, thank you for being decent human beings--I hope you both have an amazing day.
