Madison sourdough made it to our list of places to visit by virtue of their morning buns, which I…read moreread about during my research for what to eat in the area. We stopped off on a Sunday morning before leaving Madison to head to the Dells. We were able to snag a parking spot on the street pretty much right out front of the place but I did notice that there seem to be a parking lot next-door. we were intimidated by the queue that had formed and was literally no exaggeration, "out the door". I wouldn't say that it moved quickly per se, but quick enough. The time spent on the queue is good for catching up on emails, some self reflection, or perusing the menus that they have stacked on the counter. We finally made it to the register. I ordered a ginger pistachio Matcha (iced of course, in this heat) and GF a banana something latte. The morning bun was fantastic. It almost reminds me of a cruffin. Maybe lighter? It wasn't overwhelming, it was flaky and delicate with a muffin-esque but lighter booty. A delightful breakfast snack. The matcha was out of this world. Such a unique and delicious flavor. It lasted two seconds. GF enjoyed her latte. It wasn't as sweet as I would have liked but for her, someone who doesn't like sweet coffee beverages, it was perfect. I can see why this place is so popular.

From creative baked goods to yummy breakfast plates, this is a great stop if you're craving some comfort food or a sweet treat. The interior was cute with a casual vibe- we saw plenty of guests catching up with friends over brunch and others getting some solo work done over coffee. You order at the front, and although it was very busy, things moved pretty quickly. We tried the biscuit breakfast sandwich and hot coffee. The bacon and eggs on the sandwich were perfectly cooked, and I loved that it came with jam to balance out the savory flavors and rich cheddar. The biscuit itself was tasty but dry- I think a generous pat of butter and a bit more jam would have done the trick. It came with a tangy arugula salad that lightened up the meal nicely. The coffee was on the watery side but had a good flavor. I do wish we'd picked up some pastries or bread for the road, as I tried some of their sourdough on a sandwich at another local restaurant and it was absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a good experience and I would definitely stop by to try more of the menu!

Both the bags that the bread was put in was covered in oil by the time I got home ( about an hour later). I thought maybe it was just baked and put out so I let it be and a few hours later, while deciding to make lunch, the bag was really covered in oil. The bread tastes like oil and salt. I am very discouraged by this as I know Bloom usually does really well with all they do! Maybe it was just a bad baking day but nonetheless, I had to throw my bread away :( it was not edible

Since I live in NY, I had trust Yelp in finding a great spot and I was guided to the right place. In the delivery notes I asked that they select some festive items. My BIL and sister gushed about how good the donuts tasted. Wish I got a taste! But I will definitely make the trip to visit in person next time I'm in Madison.

This review is for Oakhouse @ the Capitol Square Farmers' Market (CSFM) location…read more They are not exactly an underground bakery at the Farmers' Market, but they certainly don't get their deserved props. Oakhouse's delights include breads, donuts, scones and specialties are loaded. There are other bakeries at the market including Stella's. Based on the crowds and the number of reviewers on Yelp, Stella's gets all the love. However, based on my consumption of their breads and pastries while also comparing prices and customer service, Oakhouse backhands Stella's with a silicone pastry brush (granted, Stella's has the moistest and most flavorful cheese danishes in the area). I have always appreciated Oakhouse's efficiency and consistency. They are very organized package bakery perfectly. I never had anything smushed by being jammed in (like other places). They rarely struggle with stocking or maintaining an attractive display. I have never felt ignored or frustrated by cash handlers. These are amazing accomplishments factoring in the madness of the CSFM. My change your life recommendation is their Napoleon. It is the eclair's hotter sibling. Oakhouse's offering is a ginormous & gorgeous pile of puff pastry, vanilla cream and vanilla/chocolate glaze decadence. The layer offers dynamic and perfect flavor combinations vs. the eclair's often disappointing cream to pastry ratio. Next time you go to the CSFM... sting Stella's and make a beeline to Oakhouse. They may be -1 on product marketing, but more thank make up for it on their delicious delivery. Once you save time, a little cash and make your sweet tooth sparkle, you can thank me later.

I know Regent Market Co-Op carries some of their breads. Their Cinnamon bread is decidedly cinnamony, but much too dense and dry for my liking. The Spicy Cheese bread was good, but I found that it falls short of Stella's version of this specialty. Despite the less-than-spectacular nature of what I've tried, I certainly plan on giving Oakhouse another shot. I'm hoping to dig into some of their donuts next time, of course :)
