Today was busy at Bagles and More. First, I like the bagels and I've had some of the best in the world. For Beloit, these are even a notch above okay. I never like to judge a place on one experience but today was my thrid and I won't go back. They do enough business, at least on the weekends so they won't mind but the owner, or whomever the larger bearded guy is is likely the most unfriendly and downright nasty person I have come across. They provide almost nothing in the way of service. You get your coffee cup and lid, to fill up, even the first time, at the coffee station. Today I ordered breakfast and since it was the farmers market I wanted to people watch and told them I would wait outside, especially since the wait was to be 20 minutes. They handed me a cup, the lid seperately, my small bagel on a plate, that goes with the breakfast, and my large number 12 on a pedestal. I tried to carry it all, along with my purse and the bag of veggies and promptly dropped everything. Then they gave me a tray, a new bagle and a new lid. I went out side and noticed one table to the right of the door in the sun. To the left of the door was a nice empty table in the shade, not even 10 feet from the door. They told me they would bring out my omelet so gave me a large standing number to place on my tray. 40 minutes later, as I watched everytime someone came out the door, I called them since I didn't want to leave my shady table and asked where my meal was. Soon after the owner, or manager, whomever the nasty man is, came out and begin to berate me for sitting at the COMPETITION'S table. He said he came out but did not see me, which was impossible what with the big number 12 sitting on my tray. I believe he chose not to bring my meal because I was not at the "right" table. I'm also sure that the neighboring coop, Bushell and Pecks would have served me my food if I was accidently at his table. He was rude, abusive and just plain nasty. I found myself apologizing, which I regretted so much that after I took my first bite I took the entire tray back inside and left the $9.25 meal on a table. The only taste besides the first one was a BAD TASTE in my mouth. I will not go back! For the prices and lack of any kind of personal service it's a no star as far as I'm concerned. However, this site would not let me do no stars! I have been exposed to a few other places in Beloit who are so afraid of a little competition that they only hurt themselves in the long run. Too bad, it will come back to bite you if you don't coorperate with one another, after all, as I am reminded each day, "it's a small town and many businesses don't last." I say it's because they don't know how to work together in this town!! This guy shouldn't be a business owner at all if it's good will Beloit is hoping will grow the town! read more
