We came here because we were at a volleyball tournament at Park Vista HS and had a few hours in between to grab lunch. I know that people had come here and enjoyed their bagels so we went. The service was good. I got a Greek salad with a bialy (I wanted bagel chips but not cinnamon and that was confusing to them so I decided this would be best). My husband got a reuben sandwich minus the sauerkraut and really liked it. Though the fries weee a major disappointment- asked for rhem well done and they were very oily and tasteless. WORST bagel place I've been to in South Florida, and I've been to many. I'm originally from NY, so I know a good bagel. Overall, this place sucked -- from the service to the food being cold. The waitress was rude, took forever to come to the table, then acted like she was in a hurry, as if there was a line out the door (there wasn't). I usually don't leave reviews, but this place was truly terrible. The best thing was the hot tea, which is sad to say but true. The hash browns were rock hard. I got home fries instead, and they looked and tasted like they were made at least two days ago -- I wish I was exaggerating. I was told that's just how they make them. It's difficult to find Flagle's, disks or flats in Florida. I called early in the morning and Danny put some aside for me. Stunned to find out that six come out to almost $20 and there's a fee for using credit cards. They are now $3 each. Five years ago they were a delicious $1. Then I saw the sign at the register acknowledging that small family owned businesses are feeling inflation. I guess if I wanted a bargain, I could buy my bagels at Publix or Costco but they wouldn't be the same. It's a beautiful day and every table outside facing the parking lot is taken. DO NOT GO - They are filthy and unsanitary - I used to like this place until recently. First time, we found a long, black hair in our boxed pastries. We figured it was a one time mistake and decided to give them anther chance. The next time we were there we ordered pastries and saw a d*ead fly in the tray right next to the pastries they were serving us. The old woman who was grabbing the pastries just pushed the fly away about 1/4 inch away from the d*ead fly and continued to serve us. She had bare and dirty hands, and long dirty nails. They do not wear gloves while serving and are completely unsanitary. Service has also gone downhill, with clueless servers walking around ignoring customers. They are the closest thing to a New Jersey bagel we have found in the entire south Florida area - and we have tried many, many bagel spots! This is a real Jewish deli, even down to the Joyva Halava. The bagels are made right there a little hard on the outside, which is perfect and a little chewy on the inside. These are the best bagels I've had in South Florida and a really long time and I've been living here 42 years. It's a 25 minute ride from my house, but I don't care it's worth a ride. I had locks that was sliced a little too thick for me, but it was a busy Sunday on Father's Day so they prepackaged everything. That's the only negative the service was very efficient. I knew what I wanted. I ordered. I wrapped it up. I was ready to go. Thank you 15 bagels if you order a dozen bagels so that's a great deal right there. I had a disc Flagle, which is a flatten bagel, but this was made out of Bialy dough. It was a little too soft for me because I like it hard and crispy like it's mostly crust. When I get them in New York, it's much bigger. It's rolled out really thin and it's hard. They probably make it out of bagel dough up there as well. All in all it's a great experience. He also got an onion bagel with it. It had two slices of lox, an onion slice, two tomato slices, and one black olive. For his side, he chose macaroni salad. He thought the macaroni had too much mayonnaise in it s d not much else. As it was near the end of the day, they were short on their bagel selections but that was understandable. When we were ready to leave, I got up and found another server to get a to go box for leftovers and a plastic container for my soup. I'm not sure we would go out of our way to come here. I was in the area and decided to stop in to pick up a few things to bring home. Big mistake. I patiently waited at the counter to be acknowledged. Everything worked out because I stopped at their other location on my way home and picked up everything I planned on buying. Lack of service, earns them one star from me. We love this place and we've been coming here for years. My grandpa will get 24 bagels at a time to go and take them to our house on the other coast of Florida. Now that I live here I'm coming here regularly. It's very hectic and a little disorganized if you're getting to go food instead of dining in. Ok, I admit it. We've become weekly "regulars" at the Bagels & on Hypoluxo. We order the #5 special consisting of eggs, bagel, home fries or hash browns, coffee and their trademark mini muffin. Everything is fresh and has a "comfort food" appeal. This satisfying meal is a bargain at $4.99. The Covid safety precautions include the usual actions such as the staff wearing masks and disinfecting the menus between each use. Some of their other actions don't seem as effective. For example, the restaurant has hung shower curtains (yes, shower curtains!) between booths to create a separation. This approach not only looks cheap, I suspect it probably does not work as well as fixed partitions. Fortunately, when we visit, the restaurant is not very crowded so there are empty tables between parties. The restaurant also leaves salt & pepper shakers and sugar packets on the table. Are these items sanitized between customer seatings? read more
