This place is so good, that if I'm on vacation or away for a weekend, I miss it terribly. Brookfield location is my favorite of the 3. Pros: Best coffee you'll find on the east coast. Tasty sandwiches and the staff is THE BEST. Cons: A little on the pricey side, but so is Dunkin' and their food/coffee is garbage. I don't mind paying for fresh, quality product. I can't say enough about this place and it's owner Mark. My daughter was married nearby at the Candkewood Inn. We rented a house nearby and they delivered the most delicious breakfast sandwiches bagels coffee to the bridal party the day of the wedding and the following day the most delicious six-foot heroes and salads even though it was a little out of their way and they were absolutely accommodating and as I said the food was delicious. Eh! Pretty average food. My chicken cutlet on a roll was super salty and lacked the oil and vinegar that was requested. The other sandwich was a BEC it was just ok as well. Their bagels are not the best I've had, but they certainly are good and there aren't too many other choices in the area that I know of, and even if there were I would still come here. We walked in around 250 and tried ordering stuff off the menu but they couldn't cook anything because it was closing soon, so we got our food and waited at a table to be served. The staff gave us the food and said we had to leave and go eat somewhere else. I never feel the need to write reviews, but when I tell you I experienced the worst service at Bagelman this morning, I am not lying. Upon going up to the counter, I asked my cashier what smoothie flavors they had. He the proceeded to tell me that they could be found on the "sign up there". I looked around, and he then told me that "the flavors were on the yellow board". After seeing I still couldn't find them, he rudely pointed to the SMALL yellow paper with TINY writing on it and asked me, rudely I may add, "You got the right glasses?" After I ordered my smoothie, he then, under his breath, asked if I had anything else. I couldn't hear him, so I was like what and then he proceeded to charge my card for the smoothie (mind you this, I had a cup of yogurt right in front of me). After the charge was about to go to my card, he asked why I had the yogurt and I said sorry I thought you already charged it. He said he asked already and that next time I should remember to tell him when I have an additional purchase. I was scared he spit in the smoothie, so I didn't drink it. I never have experienced bad service at Bagelman, but this was unbelievable. Although I don't know his name, as he failed to wear a name tag or give me a receipt upon my purchase, I do know he was a white male of shorter stature with light facial hair. Possibly the best bagels in the universe. I've spent most of my life in NYC so I'm very picky. I grew up in Brookfield as a kid and have never found a bagel (even in New York!) that tops this place. I've lived all over the world and no matter what, when I visit home I pack myself up a dozen to take back with me. I wish you guys delivered across the country because I live in LA now and would totally take you up on that! Instead my wonderful friends and family ship me a bunch of them when they can. :) The sandwiches are great, the bagels are perfect and everything about that tiny location is the best. The cream cheeses are also delicious. I like their Danbury location, too, but this Brookfield one is my favourite. I only wish they were open later in the day. Sometimes you just want a bagel for dinner, you know? :) All in all, no complaints and I miss this place so much. Next time I'm in Brookfield, I'll be visiting for sure! read more

If you have an allergy stay away from this place! My first issue with Bagelman was September 11th 2020. I was in the hospital, just gave birth the day before. I sent my husband to get me a sandwich- I have Celiac Disease. He ordered my sandwich, Gluten Free bread, maple turkey, lettuce and tomato. The guy making the sandwich puts my bread in the toaster where they put regular gluten bread-no good, then my husband tells him that, that's cross contamination and I can't eat that, he ask to have the sandwich redone, they took the meat off the first sandwich sat it on crumbs on the counter and then put it on new bread. My husband said no to the sandwich and asked for his money back, they refused. I had to call from the hospital and explain to them that I have Celiac Disease and I did not want the sandwich and to please return our money- unnecessary stress. Second incident was today 8/5/20, we have over 12k people in the Connecticut area without power do to a tornado. I stopped eating out, but, all my food needs to be cooked and again there's no power. The only option is was to try Bagelman again- different location, I get there to place my order, I tell the lady that I have Celiac Disease and to please let the cooks know to take proper precautions. I was told that she couldn't do that because they were busy - literally five people waiting for their food. I asked her to please let them know, she went back and forth with me until I said forget the order. She didn't want to go through the trouble of due diligence to accommodate my allergy. Do not ever attempt to go here or order delivery/take out if you are in a rush. This is probably the 5th time in years I've ordered delivery, very reluctantly because it is never prepared on time. Even with pick up you stand and wait and get ignored for 20 mins and still have to wait for your food. Im going back a bit but, we've seen Waldbaums, The Wiz (it got beat), Channel Hardware, Hallmark, The Book Review, Pagoda Kitchen all get outlasted by Bagelman. We don't go to this location anymore after watching a male staff member lock the door on a man and his child because they arrived right at 3pm. We have been a long time customer of Bagelman. BUT THAT ENDS TODAY we placed our order using there app and we're told by the app our order was ready for pickup . When we went in they couldn't find my order then told me it was just being made. When we complained and asked for the manager he complained they were understaffed and busy and proceeded to tell me to get the fuck out that the customer isn't right. There is no greater bagel shop. Growing up in Danbury, Bagelman is basically a legend. We would have the hot, delicious bagels on our breakfast table every Sunday. In addition to the perfect crunchy outside and chewy inside of these bagels that come in every variety possible (try the sun dried tomato!), there is also a healthy variety of cream cheese spreads, sandwiches (the breakfast bagel is a standard) and salads as well. When I still lived up there and worked in Brookfield, I would eat lunch at Bagelman 5 days a week. Needless to say, every time I come to Danbury, Bagelman is a required stop. Waited 15 minutes for a gross bagel with barely any cream cheese...I've had better bagels in Florida which is known for having terrible bagels, bread and pizza. Was at Bagelman in Brookfield the other day. A customer comes up to the counter and told the staff that he did'nt have much cream cheese on his bagel. I glanced over and saw that he had vertually nothing on his bagel. After all the staff analized it , they determined that what he got was what they gave to everyone, They struck a deal with the customer to give him more cream cheese, but they had to charge him more money. How pathetic are you people? You gave hime vertually nothing on his bagel and then made it seem like you were giving him a deal at only charging him one dollar for the extra cream cheese. Such a disappointment. To be clear, I am not one of those people out to destroy an establishment for my own satisfaction. That's a bad look and is, to someone who used to run restaurant back-houses for a living, a very serious and hurtful thing to do to those trying to make a living through those establishments. But when they come across as all too busy or annoyed or ANGRY to do the job for which they themselves and no one else signed up for, it carries over not only to the overall experience but indeed the product as well. The main culprit was this one female employee. I believe another Yelper mentioned her below me. She was apathetic and purposely monotone like those girls who are just too cool to breathe the same air as the rest of us allegedly less-attractive unwashed heathens. Her voice was so strained at purposely unpleasant that I would have (almost) rather have listened to Hillary Clinton speak for (almost) an entire 30 seconds (almost) entirely uninterrupted, instead of dealing with her for the few minutes that I was forced to this most recent Saturday morning. It's bad when you give Hillary Clinton a run for her money in anything, let alone coming across as a real-life human being, and she (almost) lost out to her on that one. Yikes! It's been in town for a good long while now, and while it might not seem like much, but they just don't have places like this everywhere. This is a decent place. It's good for a quick bite. The bagels are good. The coffee is good. The atmosphere is sort of lacking and it's a little cramped, but I imagine many people who come here get their food as takeaway. Every time I have been here the food was consistent and tasty. I checked out this location for the first time yesterday and was not disappointed. I got my child a wheat bagel with butter and when I tried a piece it was the perfect amount of crispy and chewy- you could tell it had just been made and was delicious. I got a grilled chicken wrap that took a little longer but a staff member (who was very nice) asked me if I wanted the bagel first. My wrap was honestly delicious & I enjoyed my coffee too. The only reason they are getting 2 stars is because the food has always been good and never the problem, the problem is some of the staff. I do not know why the Management allows some of the workers to have the attitudes they have. There is one very young guy, cannot recall his name, who is always professional and courteous. Love their bagels but they're NOT WORTH IT for the customer service. There are a few employees in particular that are just assholes for no reason. The manager is terrible at conflict resolution and treats you like a kindergartener in trouble. I had placed a mobile order, as I do on a frequent basis, and went to pick it up. Was told I never submitted it and it was my fault for not calling to ensure they had received it. Then paid for bagels that I had already paid for and some kid with a bad Justin Timberlake dye job told the kitchen "take your time on that." I was already late for work at this point. The manager then called to tell me my mobile order had been sent to the wrong location and I should've double checked which one it was being sent too. Normally if that happens, the restaurant is more than happy to make it for you still. Not Bagelman. The manager told me on the phone it was my fault for using the mobile order because "Bagelman has nothing to do with that." The owner was supposed to contact me but now it's been a week and I'm sure he isn't going to. Just go to any New York style deli for your bagels and skip the headache.
