There are so many options on the menu and their selection of cream cheese spreads have tofu, low-fat, and regular versions. So far, I've had a couple of the egg sandwiches on rolls. The jumpstart is hearty and kept me full way passed the lunch hour. The protein omelette sandwich was quite bland and pretty flat with a high bread to omelette ratio. The coffee was decent and Bagel Pub is now one of the few places open early enough to grab an espresso drink before 8am. One caveat is they charge a credit card fee, which wasn't advertised nor did they notify before purchase. Online and phone ordering isn't available, at least it wasn't during opening week, but they're settling in so we shall see. read more

I'm surprised to learn that Bagel Pub is a mini-chain, especially one that plants itself on 3rd Avenue, under the BQE. I've passed by quite a few times on my way to Industry City. Unfortunately, it's always been late in the day and beyond bagel eating time [though, is there such a thing?]. Fortunately, on this trip, it was, in fact, bagel eating time. I'm actually very impressed with the quality of bagel. I have very high standards when it comes to this. I got an egg bagel with regular cream cheese [$3.70]. The bagel was a good size, crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. I might go as so far to say, it was the perfect bagel. The ratio of bagel to cream cheese was also on point. They really stuff the cream cheese in there. I was also stricken by the wide variety of cream cheeses offered, tofu cream cheese, bacon cheddar cream cheese, etc etc. The ordering system seems a little strange to me though. Someone jots your order down on a ticket, passes you the ticket, and you hand it to the cashier, where she passes it back to someone who makes your food? I don't know. There's some quaint outdoor seating, wooden tables and benches, but again, on 3rd Avenue, under the BQE. You know, as much as I am obsessed with and brag about their bagels, the service here has been a bit off lately. Visited twice after catering from them and they didn't seem to listen clearly to orders either time. A few weeks ago, I came and asked them not to toast my bagel, they toasted and crisped it up to my dismay.... Today I asked them to please add "tofu scallion cream cheese" and they barely filled it with any cream cheese, let alone the correct flavor! I returned immediately after and told them the issue. Though they gave me more cream cheese, they first smeared "regular tofu cream cheese" and a little smear of "scallion tofu cream cheese" on top. Excuse me, but who are you saving those scallions for?! By doing this, there still were little to no scallions in terms of taste or appearance on my bagel. When I went to the counter to pay and order drinks, I asked for a latte with "half and half" and the girl poured "whole milk" in front of me not even a minute after. I also asked for a hot "jasmine sencha tea" and she just gave me "regular jasmine." At that point, I bit my tongue and walked out. While I will admit their bagels are exceptional, their service is terrible. I don't think I'll be coming to this location any longer. They don't seem to listen well. If I do go back, I may have to literally write everything down on a piece of paper. Maybe then they will understand... but then again, maybe not. read more

I was pleased to see this place on 3rd ave full of people and a weekday morning as it's pretty hard to maintain a business beneath the BQE. I've gone to their location in Park Slope for 10+ years, and they've got the same ABC special (Avocado, Bacon, Cheese omelet on a bagel of your choice) with hashbrowns. I picked up a toasted multigrain bagel with a bacon/ scallion spread and it brought back fond memories of sex. Soft on the inside, warm and comforting. It was cool to see how many huge tubs of different flavored cream cheese they had. I was tempted to concoct something creative, but went with my usual, classic combo and I absolutely did not regret it. If you're willing to either pay or drive around for 30 minutes to find parking, bagel pub is simply one of the best bagel spots in Brooklyn. I noticed it on the drive by because of the inviting storefront (the design just stands out!) They have a pretty in depth selection, but I got my go-to at any bagel place- Lox spread on an egg bagel. It did not disappoint. The prices are what you can expect for Brooklyn, but it was absolutely worth every penny. We also got a black and white cookie. They have a pastry case near the cash registers (they take cash as well as card). It's unclear whether or not they make those pastries in house or if they are pre-made, but they were quite good as well.
