    Hair in my bagel. :(
    E-Ching C.

I was so excited to have learned that this was a drive-through bagel place. My first thought was, "This is brilliant!" The person who took my order was polite, despite all the previous reviews about service. The wait was long because they didn't take advantage of the 3-point drive-through system (no one was at the window to collect payment and a sign was not put up either to tell you that either), but that wasn't my main concern. My biggest issue was finding two strands of hair in my lox bagel, one in each half! Biting into your bagel to pull out hair is disturbing. Switching to the other half for it to happen again is just disgusting. Two strands?? Was the person preparing my bagel scratching their head at the same time? Or was this one long strand cut in half? Either way, I can't eat here again.

Nasty glob of tuna fish on my bagel with cream cheese.

Nasty! Pulled into the drive thru behind four cats waiting. Took 20 minutes from the time I pulled in until I got my food. I ordered an egg bagel toasted with scallion cream cheese. The bagel was now cold and it was hard/tough like it was going stale. But the worst part was the fact that it tasted like fish. A closer look they clearly used the same knife to cut a tuna sandwhich that they did with my bagel. It was mixed into my cream cheese and there was a giant glob of it sitting on the foil. I will never return!

Very tasty food. The bagels are from the best in the area the coffee is delicious and they have like 30 different types of cream cheeses. The churro waffles out of this world!!!! They could work on customer service a bit and there very very pricey for bagels.

    a variety of ice creams

One word to describe the bagels... TASTE ! Whole Wheat, was not bland it actually had taste! ET very flavorful. Egg and Plain were great! Perfect chew, nice size, cream cheeses galore to choose from. My family said it was the best bagel they've ever had. Great family environment and seating, owner came out to say hello, couldn't ask for more! Can't wait to go back or have something catered.

In Howell Plaza, you will find a little spot where you can find bagels, subs, sandwiches, and…read moremuffins. Brand: 4/5 Outside, the sign outside the business did not reflect the logo used for the brand, which has an updated look. Despite the outdated sign, I will say that I like the new logo, since it has that western aesthetic that maintains a sense of classiness. Inside, the classic brown tiles of the floor have an inviting vibe, along with the glass counters showing the food. Website: 3/5 It welcomes you with the standard Slice theme that comes with restaurant website, but only at the bare minimum. Because it typically applies to pizzerias, this red-and-green theme works against the website, since it could mislead the consumers. Also, none of the menu items have any images accompanying them. Ambiance: 4/5 The television did blare a little bit, and the table we sat at was near the cleaning area, so that sink smell kept coming. Nonetheless, I did think that the chairs felt comfortable enough and the tables had a large enough space between them. The waiting counter has a wide enough space to bring anyone's order into view without it becoming a nuisance. Service: 5/5 The staff went through great lengths to ensure we had an accommodated experience. Wait Time: 5/5 We experienced no interruptions during our wait time, and the orders came quickly. Food: 4/5 I ordered the Italian, which is essentially an Italian sub with salami, ham, pepperoni, provolone, lettuce, onion, tomato, mayonnaise, vinegar, and oil, with orange juice. The ingredients and the buns had a fresh, natural preparedness. The buns held their form even as the ingredients started to pour out. I will say that the flavor resembles the Italian subs from other restaurants, though in this case, the mayonnaise had the most profound flavor which complemented the sub well. I did think that it had too much grease on it. A rule of thumb of mine is if I need to use multiple napkins to wipe my hands, then the food is too greasy. Worth The Money?: 3/5 Concerning food, I think that it reflects the internal conflict of the establishment's identity. Is it Italian-based? Is it diner-based? A strong recommendation I can make is to provide some menu items so unique they set King of Bagels and Subs apart from the other eateries into its own niche buffer zone. Hybrid eateries do exist and I can see a bagel-and-Italian diner working, but I just do not see it with the website. The food works with the ambiance, since it will offer you many options with a clear space. Likewise, the meals had the appropriate amounts of wait time and service. I did not have to worry about waiting, since the staff care about their customers. I do think that while the logo does have a good design, it only works so much, since I do not know how much the business itself reflects off the theme, especially if the menu appears pretty standard. I would recommend including that logo into more spaces, including even the sign if becomes possible. I will say that the menu items can have a high price. Is the price ultimately worth it? Not unless you wish to support local businesses. Other than that, any issues beyond principles will not entice you to go to King of Bagels and Subs. Rating: 4/5 Stars I can see how this establishment could become the King of Bagels and Subs, with the Howell Plaza as its demesne and the consumers' happiness as its regal mandate. For now, I do not see it. Recommend To... Anyone who works around Howell Plaza and need a quick bite at any time of the day. I can easily see how the King of Bagels and Subs could serve someone three courses in a single day, whether breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner.

Big City Bagels has a prominent front easily identifiable on Aldrich Plaza. The interior has an expansive space, with many parts that make it stand out from any other bagel shop, such as a television showing the game. The logo perfectly represents the establishment, for its unique design consists of the New York City skyline, a coffee cup lid, and a half bagel as components. These directly reference Big City Bagels' origin in New York City, and their menu items which include coffee and bagels. I love how companies chock so much meaning in their logos, for it is reminiscent of the Turkic tamgas which would directly inspire the Ukrainian trident; and the Japanese mons. While I do have an issue with the name of the establishment having too much length to memorize, I do think that the logo outweighs it to the point it does not notch off a star for branding. Website: 5/5 It is simple to navigate with its abundance of information. Most of the menu items have their own images, but only by a slim majority. It offers a backstory on the restaurant, and discloses that it does offer discounts to public servants and donates to local causes. The website overall offers a wide variety of resources such as events and hiring, all within a simple color scheme that does not overwhelm you when you browse through it. Ambiance: 5/5 It can get noisy for it is a popular spot with many customers regardless of the time of day. I would say that the large space handles it quite well. It also has the appropriate temperature at this month. Service: 5/5 The staff have a cordial tie to the customers. They clearly show passion for Big City Bagels. Wait Time: 5/5 I managed to receive my order after I nearly finished writing a single paragraph in my spiral-bound journal. I commend the establishment for having a system in place to facilitate a quick order. Food: 5/5 I ordered the Buffalo Breakfast Wrap, which consists of eggs, bacon, cheese, and buffalo sauce within a spinach wrap, along with orange juice. I can say that as a night owl, this definitely woke me up with as much efficiency as a cup of coffee. The bacon had a much more profound taste than the eggs, giving the wrap a crispy taste. The wrap held together well without any of the contents falling off. The hot sauce gave the wrap a fair amount of spiciness, but not enough to give the wrap a repulsive taste, perhaps because the spinach wrap neutralized the heat. Worth The Money?: 5/5 As a father-and-son-owned eatery, Big City Bagels hopes to give back to the community, which indeed has far more benefits than any major chain eatery. I can see how they fulfill the local multiplier effect, making them a local business worth frequenting. For an establishment as bustling as Big City Bagels, you would hope that their website would catalog many images of the menu items, however there are significant gaps of menu items without images. However, as noted before, the logo itself makes Big City Bagels enjoyable, since it employs so much meaning that perfectly represents them. The preparation of the Buffalo Breakfast Wrap was appropriate for the wait time, for it steamed when I opened the foil. For personal suggestions, I would like to see more images of the menu items on the website. I would also like the see the signage outside updated to the new version of the Big City Bagel logo. I will say that factoring in the environment and the experience, the price of that Buffalo Breakfast Wrap was definitely worth it, even if the price is slightly higher. Rating: 5/5 Stars As a proud Jerseyan, this establishment destroyed any preconceptions I may have had about New York cuisine. I did offer one of the staff who served me a tip of $3.86, and whether she got it or not has weighed on my conscience. Recommend To... Anyone who knows someone in New York City, for the establishment encapsulates the New York experience with a booth and a foiled meal. I also recommend it if you are a night owl like me and need a good spicy breakfast dish to wake you up.
