Jalapeño cheddar bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese
    Jack R.

Loved the selection of bagels here, almost left me with too many options I couldn't chose! Went with the Jalapeño Cheddar bagel with garlic and herb cream cheese. Not much spice on the bagel but it was served warm and was the perfect bite, chew to the exterior but pillowy on the inside. Cream cheese had a TON of flavor and I will 100% try more based off this one. Service was quick and friendly. Sat inside to eat and loved the vibes, just quiet and cozy, a little different than all the coffee shops around.

The staff was very friendly, and the selection of items available was awesome. The coffee was great, and the salt bagels are my favorite -- they are dangerously delicious. We had a few other bagel types which were all good, too. The cinnamon ones were a big hit as well as the Asiago. There's a pleasant atmosphere and plenty of food items available which makes it feel full but not cluttered.

Staff were so kind. They gave my friend a sample of their chicken soup. Bagels were chewey and a great crust. You can definitely tell they were fresh. Inside feels like a cute little hole in the wall shop. 10/10 recommend especially because prices are really nice too!

5 stars. You must eat there. Period. **checks app** Apparently I am required to say more. Oh gosh, where to begin? First off, the service is really friendly. Everything looked good, so Bill walked me through all of the options, explained where to pay, just good, solid service. I ordered a bowl of chili, a hot pastrami sandwich, and a cherry lemonade. The lemonade was just that right balance of sweet and tart. Fantastic. When the chili came out I started to realize how much of a challenge I had just entered. The portions are huge. HUGE. I could have done aqua-aerobics in the bowl of chili they brought out. Perfection in the blend of sweet and spice - almost as good as my own. Plus they throw in a hearty helping of brisket in there, and I got some in every spoonful. It's like this creation found its way into my digestive system and hugged me from inside. It's soup szn right now and I will be back to try more. Then the pastrami sandwich came out. This is not some namby-pamby take-some-deli-slices-and-throw-it-on-a-dumb-bagel "sandwich." This is a SANDWICH. This is a bagel sandwich that says "you look me in the eye when you eat me, b*tch." I ordered it on a garlic bagel with lettuce, tomato, onion, and deli mustard. They serve it with a knife and fork as a brazen challenge, and I buckled. Never thought a bagel sandwich would do it to me but it did. The pastrami is piled so high that Icarus would look at it and say "Woah buddy, you're asking for trouble." And every bite was delicious. The pastrami is flavorful, not dry or tired like some places. I just left and I'm already harboring wistful memories of the pastrami. There's so many tasty goodies everywhere. I will 100% be recommending it everywhere I go. Come on an empty stomach and leave on a Rascal scooter. If that wasn't enough for you, they have a classic sit-down Centipede table. Perfection. Flawless victory. No notes.

Unfortunately, I see why this place has quite a few negative reviews. The food didn't have a ton of flavor. I got to try their matzoh ball soup and some of their challah bread. Neither was particularly impressive, and I really was hoping for that small quaint Squirrel Hill shop vibe but just didn't really feel it. It was one giant matzoh ball, which was decent, but there were far too many onions in the soup. Broth was still pretty comforting. Vegetables may have been canned, I'm not sure. The challah was also just not my favorite. Seemed quite dry. Okay portion and it comes as a free side with the soup but I just wasn't the biggest fan. Maybe I'll come back to try something different next time, I'm not sure.

This is a great bagel place! I do not say that lightly as I have been looking for a while for a place in Pittsburgh that has good bagels. I found it here. Fresh bagels with really good salmon and spreads. Lots of choices too .

We popped into Bagel Factory on a Sunday afternoon, and even after trying just a small portion of the menu, I can tell it will be one of my go-to spots. As I walked in, the last Asiago bagel was being taken out of the case, so I was devastated. But, I noticed the rosemary parmesan bagel nearby, and my heart was less broken. I paired it with the garlic cream cheese, and it was incredible. Every bite was full of strong, savory flavor. My guest went with a standard bagel with lox and added capers and whitefish. I am not a fish lover, but he said it was very fresh. We also split an order of latkes, and they were delicious. Every bite was crispy, and the applesauce paired with it was the perfect sweet balance. Our coffee was made fresh in front of us, and the man working at the register was extremely outgoing and kind. When going on a weekend, you may not be able to get a table because it gets quite busy, but it is absolutely still worth stopping by.

I visited this spot for the first time on Friday after signing up for one of those "TooGoToGo" grab bags, and I was absolutely blown away with the top-notch service and products. The premade bag included a variety of bagels + some coconut macaroons. The gentleman at the register was incredibly thoughtful and explained everything flawlessly, made sure to check that I wasn't allergic to coconut (as it was in the grab bag), and made my iced coffee perfectly. After I mentioned that I planned to share the bagels with a friend in a few days, he let me know that their bagels didn't have any preservatives and made sure I knew how to freeze them properly and even offered me extra freezer bags :') The service was so spectacular that I decided to buy a few additional items and wasn't disappointed by a single one!! I ended up bringing the grab bag macaroons to an event that evening and shared them with the bar staff and they absolutely LOVED them too!! Such a great experience -- I'll definitely be back :)

I hate to be the fly in the bagel schmear, but I was so disappointed. We stopped in for some pre-shopping noshing, and I happily ordered the matzoh ball soup while others ordered bagels. My soup was not hot and the amount of turkey on my daughter's turkey bagel sandwich was pathetic. (see pic) To make matters worse, the restaurant was pretty much filthy. Can't say I'd come back any time soon.

This was the saddest breakfast sandwich I have ever gotten! There was a single egg on it. The cheese wasn't melted at all. The bagel was dry. I would definitely skip going here.

Out here in the North Hills, we've been stuck with chain options -- so when Three Brothers Bagels came to Shaler, it really helped fill a void. This place is a great destination for all kinds of bagels, bagel sandwiches, baked goods AND really, really good soup. My personal favorite so far has been the potato leek soup with bagel croutons. It was so good that I'd love to see it become a menu staple rather than just a special. As for the bagels themselves, the selection strikes a nice balance of savory and sweet, and the spreads and fillings follow suit. What I especially love is that the sandwiches go beyond just breakfast -- there are creative, lunch-style options that set them apart. And yes, their bagels are chewy and might give your jaw a workout after a whole sandwich, but honestly... isn't that just what a bagel is? Tip: Make sure you get there early or plan to order ahead this place is SO popular and regularly sells out. I'm also looking forward to seeing their food truck out and about. Highly recommend for anyone in the North Hills looking for quality bagels, sandwhiches, soups and some genuinely great baked goods!

The Speckled Egg provided the upscale and elevated breakfast, that was a nice contrast to the rustic and local breakfast we had the next day. Our waitress was friendly and professional. He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).
