Honestly I can understand what the other reviews here are saying. The service here has a lot of room for improvement. I have been going to Bagel Boys for around a year now and the staff seem to hate being there! I have read reviews going back many years, and it seems the service/staff rudeness has never really been addressed by management, which is disappointing. The shop also appears to be quite old and even a bit dirty. At this point, I have come to anticipate fast yet not super friendly service. They are cash only as well, which can be frustrating. However, the bagels I get here are awesome every time. My go to is the lox on an egg bagel. My boyfriend gets the chicken salad on an everything bagel, and it tastes amazing. They do turn the grill off fairly early, so I have never tried any traditional bacon/egg/cheese combination since we always end up going around 11. Those bagel sandwiches alone have pushed me to give this place a 4 star rating. They have consistently been delicious. read more

After seeing some of the reviews, I had my doubts. After stopping in, eating a couple of bagels over 30 minutes and listening to the locals stop in, I'm happy to have found this place! First, the bagels are made fresh daily from scratch. I know this not only because I asked but because I watched hundreds of pounds of flour being brought in at 6am. Turns out they are steamed not boiled. Not sure what that means but they were delicious. They have a few coffee flavors, no dark roast unfort, made fresh while I was waiting. Second, the person behind the counter (23 years veteran at Bagel Boys) was pleasant and friendly to absolutely everyone that came in. I'm sure everyone has a bad day every once in a while. I didn't see it. All the locals, including local policeman, were smiling and sharing stories (which I love). Third, while they have 6+ small tables, this is not a fancy restaurant by any stretch. Actually ZERO stars. Got there at 1:45 pm today. Sign said OPEN. Closes at 2pm. The older person from inside came out and said to us "what are you here for, we got 2 bagels left." Then rolled her eyes, shook her head and walked in. Like, how dare we show up at 1:45. What a greeting ! We gone! I know this won't get anything done about the bad service this place offers. Aquidneck Island is a barren wasteland if you want to buy a fresh bagel. Always has been. I guess there's always Dunkin but their bagels are tasteless. So Bagel Boys seems stuck in the 1970s. The place has not been updated since they opened. They only accept cash, which is one reason I rarely go there, like who even carries cash anymore? The bagels are decent...passable. Not great though. Coffee is fair, sandwiches are pretty good. Service is hit or miss. Definitely not service with a smile. Sometimes efficient. Bottom line, if they closed for a month and completely modernized, got a credit card machine, and hired friendly staff, this place could be much better. Until then 3 stars is generous. read more

Poor, poor service! Went to purchase a few bagels this morning. Stood at the counter for five minutes while the workers just stared at me not offering any assistance. Probably a good thing because I got to take a look around and seen how ABSOLUTELY FILTHY AND DISGUSTING this place is! Labels for bagels were sloppily hand written, labels looked brown and were peeling off. Bagel trays were all burnt looking, cash register was absolutely filth. Wow their food deserves 4+ stars, but their service is down right rude. I work super close to this bagel shop and have come in quite often. I can get past the archaic cash only and occasionally apathetic attitude in exchange for great bagels and cream cheese combos. What I can't get over is the rudeness of the employees. Last time I went in the girl at the counter asked "what do you need?"... How about a how can I help you? What's most appalling is either the owner or manager was there when it happened and did nothing. This isn't the only time they've been rude. Every single time I have gone in - I've witnessed a customer getting their heads bit off for asking a question or Lord help the first timer who was just driving by, decided to stop for bagels and didn't know that it is a "CASH ONLY!!!" place...as I witnessed the brunette cashier scream on more than one occasion, complain loudly about not being able to find workers who want to work their (they quit after 1 shift), and complain loudly if someone orders something involving the grill. As the name suggests, this is a great place to get bagels! Fresh baked with awesome cream cheese options. (Jalapeno cream cheese on an asiago bagel is my favorite combo!) But they do more than just bagels. My office ordered lunch from Bagel Boys last week and I was surprised at the number of options they had.
