This wasn't just a rushed fix-it job, they really made it beautiful! They left the place spotless and ready to rent. I inquired about replacing an existing weathered deck that I felt wasn't worth saving. Many layers of paint that were chipping off, some scruffy looking boards, it looked hopeless. The only thing I can say about that is you get what you pay for. You are not going to have a nightmare remodel with these guys. Dan is willing to work with the home owner if you want to do part of the work to save cost. We did the tear down of old kitchen to the wall studs and sub-flooring. A relative of mine did the electrical. If you get tile flooring pay the extra $1K or so to get the underfloor heat. Those warm tiles are very nice on a cold day! Our…read more1908 house had gone through some unfortunate late mid-century re-modeling stripping its original character and cluttering it with junky finishing and inefficient design. Mike Dolge, Jason, and James helped us re-build the front half of the house to be a more open, larger feeling living area with clever and charming built-ins that add needed storage space while preserving flexibility. They were able to blend building back in some Craftsman detail with a more modern, lighter sensibility that makes it feel like we added SF. Of the many compliments that we've received, my favorite is "it looks like this is the way it was always supposed to be," even though it looks and feels very different. We are so pleased with how it came out. Mike is creative, an excellent listener and had many good suggestions as to how to improve the space in the way that we wanted in a cost-effective manner. Both Jason and James, who did the majority of the work, are highly skilled carpenters who care about quality. We're kinda particular (my husband is a designer), so they had to do alot of checking in with us and problem-solving to get what we wanted. The whole crew are nice guys who were kind to my children and careful with clean-up. Mike also hires excellent subs who built a beautiful re-purposed madrona floor and tiled fireplace that Jason finished with the most gorgeous mantle of madrona. Highly recommend.

As a first time home owner, I wanted to be sure to protect the value of my home without spending a…read morefortune. The house was in need of a few medium-sized repairs (chimney, sagging eaves, gutters, insulation) so I set to get quotes for each. The problem I discovered is that each quote contained different recommendations about what "had" to be done. Not having a background in this type of thing, it was difficult to determine the way forward. That's when I called Trent at Tradecraft Builders. Trent came out immediately and we walked through each potential repair. He was very professional and personable and basically said that each quote was accurate in some regard, but the key difference is in maintaining the integrity of the house. For example, one quote had me redoing the chimney from the roofline up with new bricks. That would have solved the problem, but decreased the value of my home due to mismatched bricks. That is just one example. At the end of the day, Trent's price came to about the same as the individual quotes combined but each repair took into account maintaining resale value. Also, when they cracked open the corner of the house to rebuild, they discovered that less work was required than expected so they were able to reduce my cost. One other key benefit is that I was able to just give Trent a key and he took care of everything. All jobs were completed on or ahead of schedule, the house looks great and I couldn't be happier with the experience. For those interested, here is the work that Tradecraft Builders did: - Chimney: removed chimney to roofline, cleaned bricks, rebuilt using the same bricks, installed earthquake strapping, flashing, mortar crown and chimney cap, tuckpoint (mortar repair) from the roofline to the ground)/ - Sagging corner / gutters: fixed the sagging corner of the house, adjusted the gutter, tested all the gutters for correct water flow and raised where necessary. - Insulation: removed old insulation, cleaned the attic and replaced with R38. I will certainly be using them again.

We just finished our second studs-out remodel of an older home with Tradecraft Builders. This most…read morerecent one was in a 1937 home, and involved replacing 13 old windows and repairing/replacing and upgrading the associated framing, replacing the knob and tube wiring, new insulation, interior walls, new oak flooring, plaster, sheetrock, paint; residing one exterior wall, tuck-pointing the brickwork, exterior painting and gutters. The previous job of an even older home was similar in scope, and also involved a new bathroom (plumbing and tile) and kitchen and fixing old sagging ceiling framing. Trent (the owner) uses his own people plus a short list of proven high quality sub contractors. He understands the business. He pays close attention and orchestrates all the "moving parts" of the project so they work efficiently and as rapidly as possible, even as the normal, but unavoidable surprises and changes come along. We'd highly recommend Tradecraft if you want your project done right and in a timely manner.

This family run business here in Kitsap County does everything from building complete homes to…read morebasic handyman services. We've used them twice and both times they were punctual, courteous, and professional. Today, Thursday January 21st, they were scheduled to come out and replace a sagging fence post and install a broken bathroom Hester. I the pouring down rain, they re-dug the post hole, added rock to the bottom of the hole, and poured concrete after they put the new fence post. They made sure the post was plumb and steadied it with 2X4s and they'll return next week to remove the 2X4s. They also installed a new wall heater in the master bathroom and quickly tested it and cleaned up their work area. I can highly recommend this small company enough as they not only did excellent work but their prices were very reasonable.

Beau is the best contractor we have ever worked with, bar none.  His attention to detail and his…read moreeye for design are both impeccable, and there is nothing we wouldn't trust him with.  He communicated clearly, kept us incredibly well-informed about the scope and timing of the project, and did everything he said he would, completing the project pretty much exactly when he expected to be finished, and on budget.  He gave us great advice throughout the process - including recommending when to order certain items, an impressive feat given the current global supply chain issues - in a way that was completely respectful and never pushy.  Our kitchen is now our favorite room in the house. A bit of background on our project: Beau dragged our kitchen from the 70s - no range vent, Formica countertops that buckled with the slightest pressure, cupboard doors that didn't fully close, to name a few issues - into the modern era.  This was a complete demolition, down to the studs, and rebuild.  Along the way, he removed an old chimney that ran from our basement, through the first floor, and into the attic; upgraded our hot water heater, and most of our old, galvanized plumbing; updated our electrical panel and removed a lot of knob-and-tube wiring; and widened our back door.  He had a clear understanding of what he could and could not do, and, for the latter, he had subcontractors lined up and ready to do the work.  Beau, his crew, and the subcontractors I interacted with, were all extremely pleasant, polite, helpful, and fun.  They were very nice to (and tolerant of) our pets, and did everything they could to make the process as unintrusive as possible.  They went above and beyond in so many ways, it's impossible to remember them all.  At the end of the project, the work was done as expected, was top-notch, and as much as we were glad to have the kitchen back, it was sad to see them go.
