Legacy Auto Sales

Legacy Auto Sales

Three stars, easily. Maybe four, but maybe not. Allow me to explain…read more.. I was helping my son shop for a car - his was recently totaled, and in order to keep working, he needed a car asap. Legacy Auto Sales had a lot of listings for cars in his wheelhouse (price & mileage). It's about an hour drive for us, but with all those cars, we'd find SOMETHING reasonable. We met there to shop around... WELL! Upon arriving, we walked the lot together. I'd say a good one-third of the lot (maybe HALF the lot) was cars that were already sold. Many of the ones we came there to look at were sold. We talked to a nice sales guy and he explained that yeah, they sell fast. My problem was that we came all that way - the website STILL had them listed as for sale. Not cool. The owner figures he has other cars to sell that "are like those sold ones". Not cool. Update your stuff. Now, don't get me wrong - the folks here were real nice and down to earth. We found a couple options and they happily let us test drive whatever we wanted. After three rides, we realized that none of the cars we were looking at were cleaned or repaired. One absolutely reeked of smoke and...something else. Our sales guy said that they get them in from auction and put them on the lot right away. When you shop, you have to squint and pretend they're clean and fixed up, which is hard to do accurately. Had we bought a car, it would have been two weeks before it could get through their clean/fix process. That was a bit of a deal-breaker for us... we probably should have asked about that sooner before we spent hours there. Would I buy a car here? Perhaps. I think they need to get on top of their backlog of clean/fix and get ready-to-buy cars on their lot. I'm not keen on buying a promise. If I made a deal and 2 weeks later they didn't get the car up to snuff, I'da wasted my time. Others may have that luxury. My advice - call ahead to make sure the car you want is there.

So two years later and a couple of cross-half-the-country trips and the little car is doing fine…read more Of course there have been some repairs needed every once in a while, but we're still happy with the purchase and the dealership.

Worst experience in my 45 years buying cars! Never ever had a dealership treat me so awfully…read more Swearing and degrading comments. Bc we bought a "unique" vehicle...2005 with 51k miles. All the reviews are probably accurate

Been looking for a vehicle for my son and saw something on their site that I thought might work…read more The moment the call started the employee was outright curt when I asked about bartering over the phone. Although I understand that they usually don't do this over the phone, I don't live anywhere close and can't afford to drive all the way there to just get told "no". During the call, I did my best to explain that the pricing around where I live is not anywhere near the price they were asking. The vehicle in question is over TEN YEARS old; low miles or not, it is much more prone to breakdown because of its age. Toward the end of the call, I said something along the lines of: "I know that this is a lot lower than what you are asking* and if it's too low you can tell me no--I completely understand." *The offer I made was about half the listed price; we don't have a lot of money in our family and his old van died unexpectedly. The employee on the phone proceeded to say "Is this a joke?!" After which they proceeded to hang up on me before I even got another word out. They didn't even make a counteroffer or try to turn me to a different listing that would be closer in price--nothing. This is by FAR the worst and most unreasonably rude dealership phone call I have ever had. Not once did I say anything aggressive or act in any way that would've prompted this reaction (I even asked my other kid, who was in the other room, if I sounded too abrasive and they said "no"). Despite this, I hope the employee(s) have a good holiday and a happy New Year. Would not recommend going here to anyone. I'd rather send them to a scrapyard. (Janelle) == //EDIT 1: Quick note, this is a new account that I made for my mother under my name (she's not very good with computers) hence why the name was (both incorrect and) different than the one on Google Reviews--it just used my G. Account name that is set up when I made this account. Regardless, it has nothing to do with the review so I'm not sure why it was mentioned..? //EDIT 2: I just have to say this because it's bothering me. To the owner who responded on Google reviews (not here for some reason?), not once did she say anything about an "out-the-door" sale. I was in the other room and heard the entire thing. She would've even been open to bartering or discussing it but she wasn't even given a chance--whether you thought it was a joke or spam or whatever. Like dude, that's just not right. Just hanging up on someone when you are business is extremely poor etiquette. I've worked in customer service before and it sucks but, especially when it is a new caller, you don't do that. It isn't hard to just say "Sorry but no thank you, have a nice day." and be an adult about things. She called you because she likes supporting small businesses instead of big dealerships--which she never said anything about--she called other small dealerships. = None of this is meant with malice, figured I should state that since it is difficult to tell on the internet, it is meant in a more "disappointed parent" type of tone. I can't respond on G. Reviews so I figured I would here. As I am writing these edits, I was reading the other reviews; it seems that this owner has an issue with this--being rude to people who ask questions. Take it or leave it, either way, it doesn't change what happened or how the employee--or I assume the owner--spoke to my mother.
