$27,000 Project -- Poor Workmanship, Repeated Mistakes, and 16 Months of Frustration…read moreI wish I had read a review like this before hiring this company. If I had, I would have chosen someone else. I'm sharing my experience so other homeowners know what they might be getting into before making a substantial investment.
I hired this company for a $27,000 roofing, flashing, gutter, and soffit project. For that kind of money, I expected professional workmanship, attention to detail, and proper supervision. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but that.
It appeared that much, if not all, of the work was subcontracted out, which I wasn't aware of when I hired them. Subcontracting isn't necessarily a problem, but there seemed to be very little communication or quality control between the company and the crews doing the actual work.
Here are some examples of what went wrong:
* Roofing: They installed a mushroom-style roof vent that wasn't supposed to be there because the new roof had a ridge vent. They had to return, remove the vent, patch the roof decking with plywood, and install additional shingles on my brand-new roof.
* Soffits: The installers made crooked cuts in my existing siding, leaving gaps that exposed the house underneath. Their attempts to correct the problem still look unprofessional. Several soffit sections are also visibly uneven or tilted.
* Flashing: Much of the flashing was poorly cut, with crooked edges and cheap-looking joints. They also used white caulk in some places and black caulk in others on BLACK flashing! Rather than properly removing the white caulk, they simply covered it with black caulk.
* Gutters: My proposal specifically required preserving my expensive mesh gutter guards for reuse. Instead, the installers destroyed them during removal, and I ended up with inferior replacements. They also failed to install the specified larger gutters, downspouts, and splash guards in certain areas, requiring additional work.
* Property damage: They broke a driveway light and damaged a windowsill. Both eventually required replacement. They even replaced the light without bulbs, leaving me to purchase those myself.
The lack of quality control was perhaps the most frustrating part of the entire experience.
I first contacted the company in May 2025. The roof was installed in September 2025, but the gutters, soffits, and flashing weren't finished until January 2026. At that point, I provided a detailed punch list of problems requiring correction.
It took another EIGHT MONTHS, until September 2026, to finally address the outstanding issues.
Even worse, during those eight months, the company contacted me TWICE to tell me the punch list had been completed. Both times, I personally walked the property and discovered that several items had NOT been addressed. Apparently, nobody had bothered to verify that the work was actually finished before telling me it was done.
I felt like I was serving as their quality-control inspector rather than a customer paying $27,000 for professional work.
To be fair, my sales representative, Shane, was kind, responsive, and communicative throughout the process, and I appreciated his efforts. Unfortunately, his good communication couldn't overcome the poor workmanship, lack of supervision, and repeated failures to get the job done correctly.
I understand that mistakes happen in construction. But this wasn't one or two isolated mistakes. It was a pattern of poor workmanship, failure to follow the written proposal, inadequate supervision, and repeated corrective work. Even after all the return visits, portions of the finished project still look unprofessional.
My bottom line: I paid $27,000 expecting high-quality work and instead spent approximately 16 months dealing with mistakes, repairs, and frustration. I would not hire this company again, and I cannot recommend them.
If you're considering this company for a major home improvement project, ask who will actually perform the work, who supervises those crews, and who verifies that the finished work meets the contract specifications.
I sincerely wish someone had warned me before I hired them.
