We had hail damage from a storm in July and our roof and gutter downspouts needed to be replaced…read more We had Travelers Homeowners insurance and JCP Roofing is one of their recommended contractors. I contacted John, the owner, who promptly came out, got on the roof and inspected it, and said his team could replace the roof within 6 weeks, which was good with our schedule. Our house has a turret with an 18 on 12 roof pitch so this was NOT an easy roof to replace either. John submitted a contract that specified the type and amount of shingles, materials for the code upgrade, roof tear off and gutter downspout details. He asked for payment of my deductible and the front half of the insurance payment on the day they arrived to start the job. He also said he would provide a lien waiver upon completion and receipt of the final payment. Another roofer wanted half down on contract signing and when I asked about a lien waiver, I was told I would have to talk to the owner about that. They went out of business a few weeks later... Our roof size is 53 squares. JCP Roofing removed and replaced the roof in 2 DAYS. Quality is outstanding and after the cleanup, I would have never known they were there. The gutter downspouts were replaced a few weeks later and it took his team a few hours to do that. Those also look great and they added a couple of extensions as needed to direct the water anyway from the house. John is very personable and professional and easy to work with. His team does great work so if you need a new roof JCP Roofing is your go to company.

Said the siding needed to be removed, but they were unable to remove it. I was concerned I would not be able to find someone to take on such a small job. Called Allen first and they said they could help, and would send someone.Tom came out and removed the required siding, and said to let him know when the plumbers were finished with the repair. When the plumbers were done, we called to have the siding replaced. Kyle came out and had the siding back up in no time. He told me there was no charge for the job. Long after my check cleared, then hadn't even ordered the roofing materials. They didn't give me any notice of when the work would begin, and I woke up to workers on my roof and a dumpster in my drive way that kept my car locked in the garage for 2 days. No one spoke English, and didn't understand when I asked when it would be moved. They put in a new skylight, and the blind doesn't work. I told them this multiple times, nothing was done. I just received my final invoice which is more than the 50% I should have left to pay. I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. Over $20,000 later, my home looks worse if anything.

I was under the impression that these were direct employees of his, his crew. Basically he was acting as a general contractor that hired another company or hired some people looking for work. Not really sure here. I realize I made some changes, but they were clear and written in a revised proposal. I didn't want the doors painted, then I got a phone call that they were painted. Sure, he didn't charge me for this, but that is proper after all. I didn't want the trim painted, and paid for that, because I missed it in the proposal. My fault. They also painted the hardware for opening/closing the windows, those were metal and need the proper paint, I did have them take that off. The house didn't have flooring in, so I was asked about drop cloths, I said use them but don't worry too much about a few paint splatters. However, I did indicate that I wasn't removing the slate flooring and to be careful. Here is a big fail, many paint spots. He tried to have them clean it up. Now the floor is sticky, you can here the soles of your shoes and feel it too. He tried cleaning that up, when it wasn't done, he offered to do it again. I really felt he had done enough. I'm still trying to find a way to clean this up, because it's sticky any dust or what not sticks to it. It's really upsetting, as I loved this detail. I will look to bring in some professionals and see what this will set me back. There's also spots on the bathroom floors, which were also said that I wasn't removing. And those doors that were painted, they weren't dry and were closed, now that paint has popped off, so I have to touch that up, or maybe just start replacing doors. I realize also this review is a year since the work was done, I was in the middle of doing the rest of the work this last year. I almost considered them for doing the kitchen rehab. I really feel I dodged a bullet there. Noah, is a nice man, I think his intentions are good. However, the whole interior project was a mess, left me very frustrated, and I have projects left to do because of it. I don't think he checked up on the work as it was being done, and I don't think he looked at it after until I contacted him. Paint shouldn't have been on that slate, nor should you stick to your floor. I also had to point on paint spots on light fixtures, that should've been cleaned. Just no.

However, we canceled the contract for the siding job after the original contractor did a poor job on the roof and demonstrated some shady business practices. So, now we're more than six months down the road, and we're in a situation like "Who ya gonna call?" We did some research on line and discovered H&F Exteriors. Their reviews were very good, so we decided to give them a shot. Representative Juan Perez came out to look at the job. He was very friendly and polite, yet professional and open to doing the job the way we wanted it done. Juan's bid to replace the siding and insulation was actually lower than the bid we got from a third company which was not going to replace the insulation. He reassured us that the experienced crews at H&F would do an excellent job for us, and he was right. The crew was focused on the task at hand and did a beautiful job. We closely inspected the finished product, and we could not find any faults with their work. Their job site cleanup was flawless. The customer service at H&F was stellar as well. We had questions throughout the project, and Juan answered our concerns promptly and in a businesslike manner. H&F kept us updated regularly by text messages about the progress of the job, delivery of materials, arrival of the crew, etc. Bad stuff is going to happen, and you will need a good company to get you through it.
