We started with onion rings, which were perfectly battered and fried (yum!). I had a French dip which was really good. Perfect size portion and a great value for the price. They use what seems to be good quality meat because I didn't have one bite that consisted of chewy fatty meat. Everything was nice and tender! Would definitely go again if passing through the area!

It was a generous portion, same with the kung pao chicken my husband ordered. We finished it all after a long day of not eating due to driving all day. We were pleased with our dishes and we plan on making this a visit every time we are in the area. We have quite a few more to try, starting next with that egg foo young! The servers are nice and made it a point to check on you just enough to not bother your meal, but to make sure you're doing good. It has such a small town kind of "Cheers" vibe. We met a patron who comes twice a week and has been doing that for fifteen years! If that doesn't say something about this place, then I don't know what would tell you. I'm sharing what my uncle and his daughter-in-law experienced at the Hitching Post Restaurant &…read moreSaloon on September 23, 2026, around 9:30 a.m. My uncle is a proud Tejano elder who spent years helping build the highways people travel every day. A work injury and multiple back surgeries have changed how quickly he walks, but it's never changed his generosity. Our family calls him "Tío GPS" because he knows the roads, the places worth seeing, and the places where travelers feel safe. This breakfast was meant to be a treat before his birthday. Instead, he and his daughter-in-law left upset and humiliated. They told me the waiter was rude and that the eggs were missing from his order. When my tío asked about them, the waiter exaggerated his pronunciation of "eggs" to mock the way my tío speaks. Three women at another table joined in and mocked him as well. He should have been able to ask about his breakfast without being made fun of. I reached out because I wanted the restaurant to hear how this affected him. As of this review, I have not received a response from the manager or the restaurant. I hope they take his experience seriously and make clear that every guest deserves dignity and respect.

My friend and I was craving birria tacos this weekend in a way where it was literally all we could talk about so we ordered them here and they hit the spot! I can see why they're a town favorite on the menu :) my friend got two orders of them because they're going to taste so scrumptious tonight after working haha After I tasted the consomé i IMMEDIATELY put it in the fridge so that I can savor it with some ramen noodles later hahah. Next time I come here I will order another side so I can have some with my tacos. The tacos themselves were juicy and messy in a way you can only hope for with such a savory dish as birria. My hands were a mess but my belly is so satisfied. Three tacos were generously portioned and i didnt bite into any chewy or tough bits. i dont eat a ton of meat because it can have weird textures but this birria was tender and buttery. The green hot sauce is tasty! My lips tingled but it wasn't too hot if you're sensitive to hot sauce. Warm without overwhelming the main course. It reminded me of when my momma put green peppers in her pot roast so it filled me with nostalgia. I got the red sauce because I like a spicy sauce but it was too spicy for me. Maybe because I just licked it off the spoon but either way it had a very full, heavy heat to it. If you like heat you'll probably enjoy the deep smokiness (?) to it :) The fella that helped us place our to go order was very kind and had a great smile and lovely eyes. I'm sure if we had dined in they would have been attentive and welcoming based on how we were welcomed into the restaurant. I'd happily come back with my friends so they can partake as well.
