After arriving to our Airbnb, we evaluated our dinner options thoroughly before deciding on this…read morelocal Mexican joint. Upon arrival, we walked into an empty, vibrant colored dining room. The two workers inside welcomed us in and took care of us well. Although they don't have any beer on draft, the Dos Equis bottle hit the spot. I got the Mi Ranchito special of the day, Enchiladas Hidalgo. Most Mexican joints are pretty similar in taste but this one was a step above. I'm not sure what sauce was on the enchiladas but they should bottle it up and sell it. I rate this place 4.4 stars, rounded down to a yelp score of 4. Anyone who is traveling through Rock Springs and unsure where to eat should visit Mi Ranchito.

Yes, the building is awkward walking in, but that is not the restaurants fault, it is the building owners. Yes, the entry is old and outdated, BUT the entire building is old and that is just a part of the identification it. It's an old downtown building and while it could be updated, the owner might not allow it. Focusing on the restaurant, I personally found it very authentic Mexican food. Exactly what I went there for. The food was Delicious! I have been back matter of fact and I would go back again when I He a chance.

Also you can you have your burrito "enchilada style" or smothered, as it is served in a tinfoil dish. My shredded chicken burrito was generously sized and fit the bill. On the other hand, my husband ordered the barbacoa burrito but was served the sweet barbacoa which was cloyingly sweet and not enjoyed at all. Who puts sugar in a burrito?! In addition, the server was not paying much attention or communicating very clearly about options (smothered, etc). Would have returned it but it was a takeout order. Since others have reported this mix-up in the reviews, it would make sense for the management to have the servers clarify barbacoa orders.
