This place is soooooo much fun! If it wasn't for us specifically looking for it you wouldn't even know it was there. The building it's located in is next door to Taps n Dolla (downtown Indy) and across from what I noticed appears to be a tequila and taco bar (I'll be adding that to my list ;)). Anyways, you walk in and then you take the elevator to the 2nd floor. You'll check in, sign a waiver (everyone is in masks), get a tutorial and get to throwing! I can't lie I was nervous I was going to f**k some ish up, but I didn't! Matter of fact I hit bullseye SEVERAL times! Once you get the hang of things and at the instructors discretion; they will show you different tricks and how to throw 2 of them together. I wasn't skilled enough, but Mi Amor was having a blast. We even got to throw Big Bertha! If you get the honors of throwing Big Bertha, feel proud because that sucker is heavy! They show you how to play different versions of games. We played 2 different ones and things got VERY competitive real quick. Once you get the swing of it, they'll definitely have you throwing like a pro. If you're in the downtown area and looking for something different to do, check this spot out! It was $27/person and we were able to be there for an hour; the rep told us the better package is 6 people $40/person and you get 2 hours! They have water, soda, beer and a few wines; it's def a GREAT time!!!

Axe throwing is the trendy group activity these days and I have to say, I surprisingly enjoyed it! My boyfriend comes here weekly for an axe throwing league and we went on an open throw night. They can host private parties upstairs, but walk-ins are welcome - just check the schedule. Throwing the axe is less about strength and more about when you release it went throwing overhead - obviously, you want the blade to his the wood target. I worked up a sweat over the course of an hour, throwing and fetching my axe. I even hit the bullseye a few times! I recommend wearing a shirt/jacket that allows you to freely move your arms and shoulders. You'll use your whole upper body to catapult the axe.

I've wanted to try this and finally had an opportunity. Let's be honest, I'd seen photos and pictured my athletic self walking in and knocking this out of the park. Didn't go as planned! They have coaches on each level and they are there to help you and laugh at you if the opportunity presents itself. They have games you can play with your partner and a bartender to give you any liquid courage you might need! Make sure you check them out. You won't be disappointed.

I went to Bad Axe Throwing Company for a friend's birthday party. It wasn't something I would've picked out to do on my own, a plus for having friends that make you try new things! I had a lot of fun! After the explanation of dos and don'ts, you can begin throwing to your heart's desire! I was a little fearful at first about getting injured, but it is a very safe environment. You could bring your own food in so our party ordered wings and soda to enjoy while we chucked the axes. Great opportunity to socialize with your friends while you wait for your turn or laugh at the group member that just can't seem to make the mark. Wear closed shoes and I wouldn't wear super loose clothing or any jewelry that hangs. You'll also be using a lot of body strength so be ready!

Super fun double date night or team building activity. In the perfect location to eat dinner, throw an axe and then get drinks at the bars after. You can buy alcohol upstairs.

This is a great spot for date night or just some exercise. We had never thrown axes before but had some free time without the kids and decided to give it a go. When you arrive, you have to complete a waiver on your phone. As soon as you do that and pay, the coach takes you to a lane and explains the weights of the different axes and then gives you the basics of how to throw. As you throw your first few, he points out what you need to do differently. In the first 10 minutes, I don't think either of us got anything to stick. By the last 10 minutes, we were consistently sticking them to the board. It is a solid hour of working out and a lot more fun than anything at the gym. I will absolutely do this again.

Bad Axe Throwing is as epic as it sounds. Get your friends together, drink some beer and throw some axes. We did make reservations before showing up since it was for a friend's birthday, but the sign did say they accept walk-ins as well. Major perk: Grant, our host, walked us through every throw we could do and gave us tips. He showed us the throws and taught us many competitive games to play. Our group is most likely the reason why it is called Bad Axe Throwing (ha!). We had such a great time and loved that Grant was always around giving us tips and challenging us to new things - like the long throw!! Highly recommend and will most likely return.

Great fun away from the usual suspects. A little loud and a little pricey. Our "instructor" offered knife throwing once we got the axe throwing understood and then told us it was an add on charge. While that was fun, it would have been nice to know that ahead of time.

Awesome time. DeJon was outgoing and provided great service and entertainment. Good for kids and a quick Birthday party with the ability for you to bring snacks and cupcakes. They do sell Beer and Wine for the adults. Make a reservation so you don't get stuck wait

I know Axe Throwing is the new IT thing, but I never thought I'd actually go and do it. I thought it would be hard, but it was actually really fun and easy! My friend arranged everything and I think we had a private party. There were 20 of us and we were upstairs. I did like that there was a long bar where people cold sit, actually there were two so lots of places to be out of the way and be able to talk. My friend brought some snacks and we got drinks at the bar. Cooper our coach was great. He made it seem pretty easy and really helped with form. I was excited that by my second turn I got an axe in and my 3rd I actually got a bulls-eye! My only regret is that with 20 people and only 2 hours I only got to throw a few times. We also did a game so that involved everyone and was more fast paced. I would have liked a few more chances since it was kind of pricey.

When it's a birthday in you thirties, what do you do for a new activity? Grab your closest friends and go throw some axes! Here is what you need to know: - Make an appointment online, there is a deposit of $70 that goes towards the fee for 2 ppl. - it's $35/ person - birthday person goes for free, bring your id, they'll take a pic to verify - Group has to be at least 6 ppl - They only take credit card at the facility - you can bring food/ have pizza delivered - You can byob, but no glass and hard alcohol There is an instructor who hangs out/ directs the group the whole time. We had James he was a cool and informative. He teaches you various throws, then you play some games. I was pretty horrible at it, but still had a blast! When I was able to get the axe in the board it was pretty exciting!

Nothing says stress relief than throwing an axe. Bad Axe throwing has finally made its way into the Indy scene. Located right next to Haveli Indian Cuisine on Meridian Street, all that stands between you and the fun is an short elevator ride to the second floor and a short stop in the area to fill out a liability wavier. The setup is pretty simple. Similar to batting cages, there is a fence, with a bar top and some bar stools to enjoy the action. There are two separate two lane throwing areas.Don't feel imitated if you've never thrown an ax, don't worry, as you will get an orientation . Then the games begin. Practicalities: + Make sure to wear closed toed shoes + Make sure to always pay attention after your throw, the ax can bounce back if you hit the board wrong + The bulls-eye- while you would assume is worth the most amount of points is in fact not. The small two blue dots in the upper corners are worth the most + Throwing an ax looks simple enough, but there are a lot of little things that can mess your throw off. After a few throws you should get the hang of it. + There are multiple parking lots near this location + use the website to book an event + Credit card only for payments, as cash is not accepted + Bring your own food or drinks. Just no glass! + Unless it an Public Walk-in session ( $20/person) or other special event, you will have to go as a group event(varies based on group size, $35+tax/person for 35 +, $44.25+tax/person, but you will need to verify if there is a minimum), or be a member of their Axe Throwing Leagues($15/week on league day) + Target boards are regularly replaces when they become too damaged. I would highly recommend getting a group of friends together and have some fun!

If I recall correctly they had bags of chips, along with a pretty decent beer selection but they let you bring your own snacks in. We brought a ton of food with us with no problem

It was impacted by the current health pandemic (as was most of the state of Indiana). However, Lacy Park is alive and well and on a recent weekend when I visited it was definitely being utilized. Lacy Park is practically the definition of a neighborhood park. This 2-acre Fletcher Place park is nestled in nicely at the corner of Greer St. and East Street. In fact, it was originally known as Greer Street Park until being named after Edna Balz Lacy in 1995. The park itself was established in 1917. While Edna Balz Lacy may not seem like a familiar name, her impact on Indy is rather profound. She was an Indianapolis native who started off as a teacher in 1972; in 1934, she married Howard J. Lacy II (son of U.S. Corrugated-Fibre Box Company founder Howard J. Lacy). Lacy took over the company from his father in 1952. He passed away in 1959 and Edna took over the company and led it for 24 years. In 1972, it became Lacy Diversified Industries. In 1973, she established the Stanley K. Lacy Foundation in memory of her son. The Stanley K. Lacy Leadership Series is one of is many contributions to Indy and it continues to this day. Edna passed away in 1991. Lacy Park was developed to reflect its diverse heritage. If you notice, its gazebo is painted red, white, and green to reflect the Italian heritage of the area at the time. Along with playgrounds and picnic areas, there's a sand volleyball court along with four bocce ball courts that were contributed by the Italian Heritage Society. The group hosts bocce ball leagues here. Holy Rosary Italian Festival is also located in this neighborhood that is easily within view of Lilly and is close to downtown yet feels like a little bit of a wooded oasis. This is a small neighborhood park that remains as welcoming today as it was designed to be in the early 20th century. It continues to be considered a "family park" - a reflection of Lacy's own emphasis on family including ensuring that her business continued to stay within the family. While this is not really a destination park, for those near downtown needing to get away for awhile this is a perfect place to get away. In the front of the park you will find an adequate sand volleyball court. There is also 4 dirt boccee ball courts near the back of the park. They did not look very inviting though. The park has a small jungle gym with some slides, a larger jungle gym with more awesome slides, a bank of traditional swings, and a bank of toddler swings. The playground is lined with wood chips and the equipment is a bit on the older side. It has definitely seen better days. This park has a history dating back to 1917 when it was known as Greer Street Park. It was renamed the Edna Balz Lacy Family Park in 1995, to honor a notable local businesswoman. Fun fact: One of Indianapolis's first recreation centers was built here at this park. The park has a strong Italian heritage background. The gazebo is actually painted in the Italy flag colors, red, green and white. Also, the boccee ball courts were a gift from the Indianapolis Italian Heritage Society. They hosts spring, summer, and fall bocce ball leagues on those courts. This is an ok park to visit, if you are in the area. But last many of the features, and maintenance of the newer mega parks. It is definitely a gem if you live close by, but is probably not a park that you would drive to to bring the little ones, or run. I saw the park getting most of its use with kids on the playground equipment for a bit and it was also popular with people walking their dogs.

When the late Yelper Ken N. first reviewed Windsor Village Park as part of his passion for…read moredocumenting Indiana's parks and landmarks, it was a sad little park. It's improving. This is a relatively small park at five acres. It houses a family center that was established in 1953 and was renovated in 2009. The family center is a 12,000 square foot center that has a fitness room, game room, computer lab, multi-purpose room for rental, outdoor basketball court, indoor gym, patio, seating, and the park includes a covered shelter with short trails. This is definitely a residential park, and the neighborhood around it is definitely dense in population. The park has a food pantry every Thursday from 1-3pm. You can also now play pickleball here. Oh, and the park has a splash pad for the kids. This is definitely not a destination park, however, it serves the neighborhood well. Around 2024, IU Health made a donation that helped to provide some upgrades, safety improvements, and improved trails. If you're in the area, it's a park worth visiting and it's nice to see the improvements from back when Ken N. first let us know about the park.

There is a decent playground, open space, and a shelter on the west end of the park. But the parks department website says the community center is closed until further notice. The splash park is a concrete slab with a pole sticking out. And on the west end of the park, houses on each of the corners are boarded shut. Although that doesn't mean it is unsafe, it does make me take caution, especially if I had a child with me. So, my advice is to watch the website for updates and hopefully, Indy Parks will come up with a plan to re-establish this park. Review #629

The park is named after George Rhodius Jr, the son of German immigrants that left an endowment to the Parks Department after his death in 1909. The park has two playgrounds, located on opposite ends of the park. The smaller one is by the parking lot and has an accessible jungle gym with slides, a set of traditional swings and a picnic table. This area is lined with wood chips. The other playground area, that is near the school is larger and the better of the two. It is lined with plastic tiles and has a large set of traditional swings there. There is a huge jungle gym with a bunch of bridges and a few slides. There is also a musical gazebo that kids can play with some music making instruments. It is nothing really special though. So, don't set you hopes too high on this one. The park has about 4 baseball diamonds that have seen better days. The fields are not well maintained and could probably only serve as a field for a preschoolers pick up game. It is such a large and spread out park that there is green space available where you can do field sports such as soccer or football, play catch, fly a kite, or have a picnic. There are three decent tennis courts that are lighted at the park and a field hockey court right next to them. The park also has two shelters with a bunch of picnic tables under them, but I did not see any grills nearby. The park is one of the few Indianapolis parks that has a pool. I can during the off season when it was also packed away for the winter, but it looks like a decent complex. The pool is housed in the park's family center and you can find a fitness center, youth game room, large community room, a dance studio, arts and crafts area, conference room, full kitchen a sensory room and a gym. There is a decent paved trail that goes around the park and is between a mile and a half mile. It can be used for running, walking, biking, or just strolling. This is a decent old school park. It has a lot to offer and does not get as packed as other parks. Personally, I am more of a modern playground type of guy, but this still works. There are much worst parks that you can visit.

I enjoyed the shelter that directly across from a children's play area and there is so much grass to just run free.
