It's the only one I'm aware of and for a city of this size, I would think there would be more than one. A Yelp search returns this location as the only bowling alley in Bloomington. It does not list the one on the IU campus probably because it is for students and not the public. The location was not so easy to find even with GPS. I missed the first turn because it didn't look like a street but more like a driveway. Eventually arriving close to my destination, I found the building is located behind a row of buildings on a main road and then set back out of sight on a side street to accommodate a large parking lot. Upon arrival I saw half of the overheard lights turned off making it rather dark inside. The counter person gave me an open lane sandwiched between two sets of young children. Out of 32 lanes, everyone was crammed into the last eight lanes all bunched up together. The other 24 lanes were empty on a day when no leagues were due to bowl per their website. Could I not get a lane without having to share the ball return with people that don't know proper bowling etiquette? It is customary to wait for the person next to you to take their turn so they have no distractions. This was not the case with both sets of people on either side of me, including the adults and the children. Then someone turned on the music on these large speakers mounted every ten feet or so. It was so loud people had to shout to be heard. I happen to be on a phone call and had to step outside the building to talk. I could not hear them and vice versa. If it was later in the evening I could understand but it in the middle of the afternoon. I wasn't there to party, I was trying to practice my bowling skills which takes concentration. I found it too difficult to concentrate with their blaring offensive music. Then there was the snack bar. It was closed! There were no alternatives. No vending machines providing liquid refreshments and a big sign on the door that said no outside food or drink is allowed. Is bowling a sport? Hydration during sporting events is not allowed here? I bowled four frames and left; never to return. I donated my remaining games to the children next to me.

We tried playing this course a year ago but got rained out and got rain checks. We were able to…read morecomplete our round and boy were we in for a real treat (slightly sarcastic)! The course was super wet as it had rained for 6 hours the early morning of making it a puzzle to maneuver throughout the course. Regardless of that the course was beautiful and super challenging. We don't know if we'd ever make it back so we played the tips (very challenging) to get the full experience. Boy was it a full experience! We're both long enough but if you're anywhere not in the fairway you are punished, repeatedly. Accuracy is king and hitting fairways is a must. Greens were pretty slow because of the rain, but if they're a little drier I can see them being very fast. Bunkers were compacted and pretty much mud because of the rain. The par 3's were some of the longest par 3's I've ever played. 3/4 we're over 230 yards with 1 being 275! Just insane! Par 4 we're lengthy with most reaching 500. 2 of the par 5's were over 600. Quite a few blind shots so playing previously would help know where to go. Practice facilities were nice which included free range balls. Overall it's a nice course that can be challenging if you're not hitting fairways.

The fairways & greens are very well manicured & the design is challenging. If you are not a scratch handicap then you should not waste your time or money on this course. A few architectural features remain helping visitors to visualize the site. Now, there are numerous plantings in this block-sized park which offers a quiet space in the downtown for visitors to pause. Although the park does not have its own parking, there is a lot next to the Kroger & Wendy's to the west. Note: At the time of this writing, an art piece called "(C)olumn" is located on the northeast corner of the park. Still, the park is unfenced and visitors can use the nearby parking lots to access the shelter, playground, and courts within. There is one shelter and another building that looks more like a maintenance building than a true shelter. It did have picnic tables by it, so you'll have to inquire about its function. The playground has a variety of slides and swings, but doesn't have much of a base to protect from falls or keep kids from getting dirty if it has rained. This review is for their General Store ONLY since we did not rent a boat from them. The store is…read morelocated just outside the check in gate for the camping grounds. There are within sight of each other. The store is basically stocked to support the campers but also the people renting boats who may have forgot some critical needs. For such a tiny store they have managed to stock just about every need one could think of. And no matter how prepared you think you are, it seems you always forget something or run out of some supplies. This store has been a lifesaver for us. We needed a smaller styrofoam cooler to take on a boat instead of our full size cooler on wheels - check, they had it. We needed something to go on a sunburn - check, they had it. And it was a great product, an aloe gel with lidocaine. We forgot to bring the cereal, brought the milk, but forgot the cereal - check, they had eight kinds to choose from including our favorite, Frosted Flakes. Last year when we brought the granddaughters, they had all that weird packaged candy they like. And of course, they have three giant freezers of bagged ice. At $2.50 a bag, I think that's pretty reasonable all things considered. Some prices are high but fair for being remote. Kroger is six miles away. They aren't gouging you like some places outside the State Recreation Area.
