Pontoons to the right brought to renter right up the shoreline.

Quick, efficient and great customer service made our rental of a pontoon an enjoyable experience. The only issue was trying to get through to the business via phone upon initial attempt to make a reservation. The hours are limited; therefore, can be difficult to reach someone when convenient for workers. The accessibility to the boat was a short walk from the parking lot and an easy walk up a ramp making this an option for the handicapped which is exciting as many boat services done have an easy on and off length and exit. Kudos for doing this instead of utilizing a dock! Upon existing the boat, we saw a worker disinfecting then washing off the boat. Again, great job and very reassuring during covid. Highly recommend this rental. Be prepared to pay park entry fee as it is located inside the state park and paid for at the general store.

We rented a pontoon boat with a slide with a large group of people. It process was painless. We showed up and the boat was ready. We loaded up and set sail. We returned once during the day for a bathroom visit but spent the remainder of the time riding around Lake Monroe and swimming. We packed tons of coolers and enjoyed lunch out on the water. There was plenty of seating on both levels and the boat was very easy to drive. This has become an annual event!

First of all the location of this place in the maps is not correct. It's actually inside the Park for which you have to pay $7-10 to get inside. I think this is a form of a lie I.e telling people a wrong location. Some Employees have no empathy or professional courtesy as it felt like all they want is money. When I was there, I just wanted to get out of there. It's like a monopoly as there's no other boat rental around so they can ask any rent price. Limited choice of food, and other super generic items that are priced considerably more than their actual cost. Try to get your food beforehand.

    Friendliest staff on Lake Monroe!

A little shy at first, but after gaining composure this young gentleman gave us an excellent explanation on how to safely operate our double decker pontoon boat and jet ski. Will return to rent again!

Boats were barely functional and whenever we would begin to go a comfortable speed. Sucks and I wont be recommending this place.

Staff is rude and owner was incredibly obnoxious in his demeanor. Save yourself some money and time by finding somewhere else to rent from.

Welcome back to 1972 when The Fourwinds Lakeside Inn & Marina was built!…read more This motel is a step back into the past with no internet, sculpted carpeting, a wall made entirely of rocks, dark hallways, toilet paper as thin and rough as sandpaper, and what looked like a popcorn ceiling! The photos online are NOTHING like the real thing. This is not a fancy place. That said, the bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom were clean, and it was generally restful and quiet. We were able to check in early (at 1 pm) for free when we called the day we were coming in. Thank you! There was a gorgeous view of the lake in our lake-front room but on our patio, there was only 1 chair, and the dividers between patios didn't come all the way down which meant there wasn't much privacy. The internet was out most of our stay (2 days), though the staff tried hard to fix it. Turns out, the modem was above the ceiling tiles! Most of the staff was very responsive and friendly, including the cleaning people. We were able to get towels to the pool from them though there were no towels by the pool and very few towels in our bathroom. Parking was easy and plentiful. The pool was gorgeous and warm and lovely to swim in. There were a number of leaves in it, but, other than that, it was nice to swim in! The workout room was closed during the time we were there, but, we chose to swim instead which felt great. Tips: 1. If you want to check in earlier than 4, call the same day and ask if you can. 2. The Fourwinds Inn is inside a state park which means you will be paying $7 that you get back after your stay. They also give you a flier with your name and room number so that you can go in and out of the park without paying again. 3. Bring food and bottled water! The rooms have antiquated looking tea and instant coffee -- and if you're looking for anything more, it's not going to be right. 4. The restaurant gets horrible reviews and it's very expensive. They also don't have many or any gluten-free options. For food, I would recommend places like FARMBloomington, BRU Burger for lunch/dinner and Vivencia for breakfast. 5. They do have a kiosk that sells a few snack items but it's not very well-stocked. It would be nice if the hotel had bottled water in the rooms (for free) OR if they brought in a coffee company like Tinker or Hopscotch to sell coffee and breakfast items. They would make a killing! This is the kind of place you stay when you want to rent a boat (apparently, it's 25% off during the week), or want to avoid the Square during college move in or move out times.

The website and even some of the Yelp photos make it look MUCH nicer than it really is-- they are clearly very outdated photos. There is a tiny indoor outdoor pool right next to the on grounds restaurant. It was too small and packed with people at all times for us to want to use. The room was average; nothing special. We ended up spending most of our time in the room or away from the resort. The lake itself is beautiful and it was nice watching so many families take boats out for the day. It was quieter during the day as families spent so much time on the water. The staff were friendly.

We had…read morenever been on a boat together before, and I was kind of wondering what I had gotten ourselves into when we stepped aboard. The thoughts running through my head included: How the heck does a boat work? How am I going to shuttle us along safely when I've never driven a boat before? And other anxious boating thoughts. But luckily, Paradise makes it easy to rent a vessel and take it out on the lake, even if you've never driven a boat before. First, when you book your reservation, you are directed to watch a long video about the dos and don't of boating on a lake. Then, the kind people at Paradise go over the rules again when you're there before you shuttle off. It turns out that boating isn't super difficult, as long as you follow some common-sense rules! And also, always wear a life jacket! We rented a pontoon, which is great if you have kids with you because this vessel has a canopy that provides lots of shade. Kids can't be in the sun all day, you know! The pontoons also have lots of storage space so you have places to put all of your snacks and extra supplies. We spent about three hours out on the lake, and by the end of the journey, I felt like I was almost a boating pro! Renting from Paradise was a great experience from start to finish, and I'll definitely be renting from them again the next time we want to spend time boating on Lake Monroe.

Being new to town, someone we met recommended Outback Marine. We took our boat in last winter to…read morehave it winterized and to have the company check the engine due to engine loss earlier in the summer. We were told the timing for everything would be a couple of months (close to December), which was fine considering the time of the year. In January, we called to ask about timing. We were informed Outback Marine was backed up and it would take longer. We waited and as spring came, we called again. We were told the issue was a cylinder and we needed a new motor. Soon after, we picked up the boat and brought it home. Upon inspection of the boat, we discovered a broken rocker--the engine culprit, which meant we did not need a new motor. He also found a crack in the motor, which happened because the boat was not properly winterized. We called the company. They said to bring in the boat and did own up, stating they did not properly winterize the boat. This realization did make us nervous as we feared other things had gone wrong. When Outback agreed to fix the crack, we asked them to install a new fin as ours was broken. They estimated approximately $100 for a new fin with approximately one to two weeks turnaround. Over the next couple of weeks, we called to check in on the boat repairs. We were told parts were on back order, the motor wasn't finished, etc. We returned to the marine to try and get the boat on the water while waiting for the fin. The engine did not run, which did not make sense. We talked with someone at Outback again and they did not have an answer. Were almost always talking to someone different and it appeared there was not a great deal of communication passed between employees. We returned the boat to the marine the same day we tried taking it into the water and continued to wait for the new fin. Another week or so later, we returned to pick up the item after we called and learned the boat was fixed. When picking up the boat, my husband was told the fin was more expensive than originally estimated (over $100 more) as they had to order a different fin than originally thought. We were not informed of the additional cost and were not asked if we would approve the more expensive purchase. Patience now gone, my husband just paid the bill. When he brought the boat home to research the issue, which my husband now thought was a fuel problem, we discovered that someone disconnected a wire. My husband reconnected the wire and now the boat runs. Not only did we almost buy a new motor, which wasn't necessary, our boat was never winterized, items were disconnected and not reconnected, and we were not asked permission for a much more expensive fin. We take blame for not arguing the price of the fin and for not calling more to find out a timeframe after we were quoted a much shorter time frame.

My family and I have been boating on Lake Monroe for 30 years as I grew up on that Lake. 446 Marine…read moreformerly known as Outback Marine had been in business since I was a kid. My parents had taken their boat motor issues to Outback for years with great service and customer service. Last fall my wife and I had purchased a used pontoon boat with a 90 HP Yamaha four stroke engine. (2007) model year. We also purchased a new camper and settled down in a seasonal campground in the area which my parents and family have been in for many years. So unfortunately one day this summer 2020 back in late June when we were on the Lake developed a bad engine noise and had to get off the water. When we got back to the campground I immediately called 446 Marine and discussed my issue. They told me that they were open Sunday the next day if I wanted to bring it in, but warned me that they were backed up and it would be four weeks before they could get me in. So without many choices we brought the boat in and dropped it off. Not hearing a thing from them for four weeks they finally called me and told me that I have wasted gears in my gear case and that they wouldn't be the ones to help me with this issue. My first question was why not ?? I was told that since they're not a Yamaha Dealer they wouldn't be able to help me with this issue. My 2nd question "Then why in the hell did you waste my time if you had no intentions on working on my engine"??? I was very upset that they wasted my four weeks of my summer, didn't offer any help or suggestions. My third question was "So how about the rest of the items on my list did you look at those ?? no we did not was the answer I got . Well, they replied (Linda) we can work on Yamaha but it takes so long for us to get parts it could be weeks before we get them. So at this point I picked up the boat from them and was charged $65 for labor when the mechanic never dropped the lower unit, never did any testing , and I believe all he did was spin the prop and said yep bad gears. I brought the boat back to the campground and noticed that my boat trailer license plate had been bent in half. So, I told my wife that I'll just fix the damn thing myself. So, I ordered a new lower unit for my engine, and replaced the tilt trim motor and steering cable myself. At this point I'm so very, very, disappointed in 446 Marine. The only reason I went there was of their past reputation. So to my fellow boaters stay away if I were you !!! Get on you tube and learn as much as you can about your particular motor or boat. It will save you time and money. I'll never step foot in this shop ever again !!! oh, and my favorite thing yet was they didn't even give me the key to the boat engine I had to go back in and get it, then told me wife if there's anything we can do for you guys please let us know. Really !!!!
