We came on a rainy Saturday morning around 11:30 and this place gets a lot of business! Even so,…read morethere's plenty of tables and seating so we had no issues with finding a spot and painting for hours. When you come in it will probably take you some time to first pick an item to paint. They have a variety of options to choose from with various price points. The price includes all the materials and supplies as well as the glazing process and the excellent service you receive. They do a great job with labeling paints, having different size brushes, switching out jars of water, and checking on you throughout the process. I will say that since it's best to paint 3 hours it takes a lot longer than you would think. So come with the mindset of getting lost in the therapeutic process of painting. We took 4 hours to paint our items. We will have to come back to pick up our items. They have a sign and provide clear communication on when to expect our items back. We had such a blast. I noted they have a party room that can be reserved so this would be a fun way to celebrate a special occasion! Will definitely be back to paint some more.

This was a birthday celebration time with my little cousin and we had a great time! As you walk in…read morethere is a wall of white ceramic items from which you choose something. It ranges from $5 to $50 and many are around $20 or $30. It was interesting to see all the options! I would have liked a few $10 options but we settled on two things each as a celebration. You pay and then they set up yup with a table and brushes. They have paint labeled with colors as well and a multitude of stencils and stamps plus other gadgets that you can use for your creation. They mentioned several times that you need to paint everything three coats in order to have a vibrant color. I will say that takes much more time than one would think so definitely give yourself time to paint several layers without rushing. My only other thought was next time I would pick a bigger object for our small ones to do as opposed to the tiny hand. Painting was very frustrating for them. We were able to help, but next time e Id pick only big easily painted objects. It was a fun airy spot with lots of tables and creativity abounded! Once you are done they fire your objects and you come back later to pick them up. I would definitely go back and try something else with friends or for a date night even.

If you want a fun activity on the Indy Northside, look no further!…read more I came here with a group of colleagues for a fun night out from the lab. It was a nice social activity that also allowed moments of quiet to focus on your piece. I find this dynamic kind of nice because I'm not one to talk endlessly even when I'm with my friends. They have tons of pieces to choose from, ranging in price and size, so you can make this activity as much as you want to get out of it. There's no studio fee, so glazes and kiln services are included with your price. They have just about all the colors of glaze, which have a display on the wall by the glaze bottles. The staff are all very friendly, Brooke and Fernando were especially attentive to us throughout the evening. They made sure to help keep our workspace tidy and helped with some glazing and artistic touches. Importantly, we never felt rushed with the process, which helped us feel like we could make something we're proud of. They also have some glass fusing stuff as well, so you can make some kinds of mosaic glass lamp shades (or at least that's what was shown throughout the space). I'm curious how that's priced, because that would be another cool outing! Pottery pieces take about a week to be fired in the kiln, so I don't have my masterpiece back yet. I'm very excited to receive it! They also provide shipping, so if you're a little further away, you can still get your piece. I'm sure I'll be back again before too long!

My husband and I came in for a date night and it was a great experience!…read moreWe arrived on a Saturday around 3 and they were quite busy, but we were able to get a table for two. They have a LARGE variety of different items to paint (as well as different offers as well). The employees were attentive as we painted with filling us in on the process, getting us new brushes, etc. They also offer adult beverages, which is a nice touch for date nights!

Much of this store is local/regionally-made art. Jewelry, paintings, photos, sculpture, wood…read morespecialties, apparel like hats and gloves, wall art, all made by area artisans are here. The prices are reasonable for the quality of work. This store is run by a non-profit artist organization, The Pillar Group. There's another similar shop at College Mall in Bloomington, where Victoria's Secret once stood past Target. The art is diverse and has a local and Indiana theme to it. While most jewelry is focused towards women, there are a few pieces of men's gear. It has the feel of a gift shop, and indeed there are greeting cards, and wrapping available for purchases. It's a very wide variety of handmade art, and it's all well-presented. I'm embarrassed how much I've purchased here; the values are pretty good for what I look for. Parking is downtown-crappy, but the store is bright and easy to shop.

Another benefit of getting out to explore your community is finding a business you didn't know was there and you are pleasantly surprised by what you find. Kind of like finding a hidden treasure! My wife was shopping next door inside Tivoli Fashions in the Fountain Square Mall just south of the county courthouse in Bloomington. Since the shopping she was doing had nothing to do with me, I wandered out into the mall and found By Hand Gallery just across the hallway. If you enjoy looking at hand crafted items like wall hangings, ceramics, and small items that can be gifts for either your friends or for yourself. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted and asked if I needed any assistance. Even when I explained that I only stopped in to pass time while my wife shopped next door, he said he understood and to feel free to browse and ask questions. I was feeling welcomed, not watched or like I was wasting his time. That's good business. I really enjoyed looking over the items. I don't do a lot of decorating in our home, but I did see things here that I thought would look nice. I didn't make any purchases at this time, but the items I looked at seemed of good quality and worth considering coming back for. Review #3911
