Had the chopped chicken salad after a week long bender which required some roughage. While I am not a salad guy this thing was great, packed with bacon, avocado, onion, tomato, feta, etc. I have heard a lot about the grumpy guy behind the counter from yelpers.....who cares. I wish I had read the reviews before placing a telephone order for pickup here. The food was very good and tasty. The filet kabobs were exceptional! However, only one staff member was properly wearing a mask, the other was wearing one under his nose. No one else in the entire restaurant was wearing masks at all (cooks and customers). It's really a shame that management cares so little for customer safety because they really do have good food. Shouldn't the place that calls itself backyard grill have outside seating? Just sayin'... For some reason my coworkers love this place for its salads, but the portions are usually so huge and the protein so oily...that it probably defeats the purpose of having a salad. I tried the hamburger last time around and it was just a-ok...not sure why they ask if you want it done medium when they can only make them well done. I used to go here so many times in the past when we lived around the area and I did recall liking most of the food we ordered here...However, we ordered a bunch of food-gyro basket(lots of meat), philly cheesesteak(i wasnt too impressed by), rib and chicken combo(ribs were tough to chew, chicken was alright), cheeseburger(nothing special). I only had the gyros since I read Steve P. review about their in-store gyros. I tried their gyros twice and it was good but I still think Hellas Gyros tasted better to me. The onion used for the gyros here had a very strong taste which is not to my liking. The staffs were nice to carry on a conversation with me while I was placing my order. read more

The wings did not even seem to have been warmed up, but they were supposedly fried and made fresh. Not as far as I could tell. They were room temperature, BUT I WAITED THE FULL TIME AS THOUGH THEY HAD BEEN MADE TO ORDER. The burger was alright. Typical Greek fast food joint; not particularly better or worse from a food standpoint. The reason they get the one star treatment (and they really don't deserve that) is the owners. The place wasn't filthy, but how about clearing what little is still on the table and straightening the chairs? Is that too much to ask? I don't need to be fawned over, but how about showing some appreciation to your customers for coming in? A simple "Thank you." How about a look that doesn't say, "I'm talking to my buddy; make it quick."? My brother refused to let his kids use the bathrooms. 'Nuff said about that. I wasn't a big fan of this place when it was Nick's #2. (Come to think of it, #2 is still an appropriate numeral for this joint.) It took them two years to remodel. I think Backyard Grill has the best tasting Gyros on the North-side. It's homemade and is very tender. Most Gyros is pre-made from a factory. Not Backyard Grill. They blend the meat on-site. Some people might think this place is expensive probably because they're used to dollar menus and drive-thrus. This is not typical "fast food" Their salads are big and good too. Backyard Grill replaced a prior fast food place that was here for several years. But they revamped the space and made it 10 times more attractive. One side of the seating area is elevated and cutesy. Somehow, it doesn't feel quite so fast-food. Gyros plate has an authentic strong lamb flavor and significant in size (leftovers produced 2 more meals).. I love backyard grill! There's nothing on the menu that isn't delicious, and I've tried most everything so I do know. I especially like their beef sandwiches, very generous offering. They have soups,sandwiches, really great spinach pie and a very informal setting to enjoy your meal. Parking is available too Which is a big plus. read more

I live by this place. Sometimes if my mom doesn't feel like cooking we get the chicken with rice and potatoes and it's always amazing. The hot wings also equally amazing :) Portions are huge and cheap prices! The only complaint I have, and it's not really a complaint is that I need to find my .10 cent wings in Chicago.
