We also found that important cost drivers were not consistently spelled out in writing, requiring us to repeatedly "catch" omissions and ask for clarification. That level of vigilance shouldn't be required of a homeowner -- especially on a project of this size. By the end, it became clear that the contract structure and process primarily protected the company, not the client. In our case, this resulted in a significant waste of time and energy, with little confidence that the final cost would stay within the stated budget. We ultimately chose to walk away and pursue a more straightforward, transparent approach. This may be a better fit for clients who are comfortable with a design-build model and flexible budgets, but it was not the right fit for us.

They are licensed, bonded, and insured, with an impeccable record at the ROC. They speak English (Chris speaks the most fluently) and were naturalized as US citizens years ago. They've been doing pool work for about 40 years and are incredibly knowledgeable. These people are amazing. Super communicative and reliable, for starters. In less than three weeks, they have chipped out the old plaster, installed new pumping equipment, installed new plumbing, repaired the poor grading in our cool deck, and are today texturizing and staining a new cool deck coating. Last step of installing the pebbletec will be done in the next couple of days, and the complete job will be done. To say I am extremely pleased is an understatement. I highly recommend Rey Perez and his company Foothills Pool and Repair at (602) 768-3784. They are located on the West side of metro Phoenix but service the whole valley.
