Backyard Bird Shop in Beaverton Town Center

One of my favorite shops which happens to be a franchise yet really does support local artists and businesses. We are always in awe as to how the shop seems like a completely different place each time you visit with new things to drool all over yet I know where to find my hummingbird supplies, bird food and suet. There is something for everyone there truly...just wow on earrings, candles, soaps....even artwork. We even found some art from a gentleman in Gresham who we also say at a coast gallery. Just wow... I really do love to come here even to just grab some seed and a glance around but have found unique gifts for friends here too. **WC** I was amazed even with the amount of fun things in here that I could get around pretty easily as long as I was mindful of the small ground statues and such.

It must've been fate. I was driving back to downtown Portland after a day of shooting in Hillsboro and turned the wrong way for the on-ramp of the 84. So to get back to where I needed to be I had to take a short-cut through this shopping plaza. Low and behold, like a beacon shining in the night, there was Backyard Bird Shop. Dozens of wind chimes hanging in the floor-to-ceiling windows. Fate, I do love you sometimes. Now you are asking why I am so happy to find a wind chime selection? My mother has asked for one for Christmas and what mother wants ---- mother gets. But I have been hard pressed to find something other than the lame-o leftovers at Target so this was a blessing -- choices upon choices! I wandered through the store which also has a great selection of seed for your various birds and backyard animals, bird feeders,(including hummingbird) as well as a few other gift-y items. I found a great Tibetan bell chime at a very reasonable price as well as a little travel gift for the sis. The sales ladies were attentive without hounding me and the store was well stocked with good variety -- I had to hold myself back from buying a few different items since I like to pretend I am Snow White and feed all the birds on my back porch. As I got on the correct ramp to get back to the hotel I had that happy I-know-I-just-purchased-a-kick-ass-gift feeling. (Come on, you know that one)

Ask the Community - Backyard Bird Shop

Can I use Cotton Candy floss sugar to make hummingbird nectar?

Thank you for your question Diana, and thank you for feeding the hummingbirds! This is one of those situations that the simpler and more basic the better. We recommend only using white table sugar and water to make homemade nectar.

My hummingbird feeder came with me and even on my balcony, those little magical birds have found it.

Gizmo's head popped out from under the towel, and she bit Beverly. I'm so sorry Bev, at least it was just a nip, not a full on bite. Just a warning shot, as you said . Within 2 minutes Gizmo was rolled free into her cage , promptly shook off with a "woo, holy shit" And NO I did not teach my bird to have a potty mouth. Gizmo is 43. I have had her since I was 8yo and she had just hatched. So she has an immense vocabulary! Bella was next. She went a little easier. I was able to get a better look at her. When she had first come to my house Friday, I thought to myself, yep girlfriend needs a bath! And Bev said the same thing today. She doesn't like the spray bottle per her owner. So she has to go in the shower with me. I have ALS, so that will be interesting She had her nails trimmed and filed by Bev and did amazing. No screaming or biting! Super Mello. My friend Rene, put her back in her cage herself. It was $11, for EACH , a Grey and a Umbrella. So $22 Total. That is just for NAIL trims. And just as a reminder Bev sells the top food brands. She also ships, which is awesome for me as I have ALS and live almost in Camas,WA. I don't really drive anymore. My transportation caregiver that gets me around during the week. She and I have become really good friends and she is the one who brought me out today, thank goodness. Gizmo, my Grey, had prison shanks for claws, and Bella could catch her own fish in the Lewis River with her Talons. There is no longer a Parrot store in Vancouver. And months before that, their grooming shop was closed. Hope this helps Parrot People!

I was in a lot of pain and might have to have surgery. So I called and canceled my request for the bird and asked for a refund. The owner was so upset that she called me a name ( that I will not repeat). She told me that she had a No Refund policy, that I was not aware of, she had not told me that at any time when we spoke of the bird before. I told her that I didn't think that was appropriate in my case. Then she said that she would refund my money after she found a bird and placed it in another home. That was on December 9th of last year. At the time we spoke she had not found the bird that I had requested and has not responded to my emails or calls or text messages asking for the refund. I have had the BBB and Consumer Protection Agency contact her and she has not responded to them either. It has now been 4 months and I have not received nor heard from her yet. That is very bad business!
