Dr Emily has a magic touch! She's been incredible for the treatment of my back after a serious snowboarding fall causing minor whiplash and some crunching in my spine. I had been to the urgent care to get Xrayd so nothing was broken, but definitely had some tears or trauma to the soft tissue around my spine. I wasn't sleeping due to the pain, and having some migraines from the muscle tension and with her expertise she applied a combo of gentle forms of adjusting, soft tissue manipulation, massage and laser treatment. I was sleeping like a baby that first night. My neck and back was feeling much better after just one session, and after a few sessions enough to return to my normal physical activities and routine. I am working with Dr. Shayna. I'm two sessions in, and everything has been going well! She's welcoming and friendly. The first session took an hour. She spent the first half an hour or so asking questions about what brought me into the office, my lifestyle, and other information to help her understand me as an individual. She also made some observations based on my posture and movement. During the hands on portion, she talked me through everything before it happened. It was a comfortable experience, and I look forward to going back to keep working with Dr. Shayna. I went to see her postpartum with lower back pain and she was able to ease the pain I was feeling with a solid plan to fix the issues. This review is LONG overdue!! Back to Basic has served as the corner stone of my wellness routine since I began care back in February. Both Dr. Ryan & Dr. Shayna have provided excellent care. Having a background in chiropractic myself as an assistant for 4+ years, I was very specific about the type of care I was seeking. Manual manipulation was a must and I was looking for localized individualized care as I am healing from multiple traumatic injuries, loss of cervical curvature and a recovered case of scoliosis from childhood. Each visit they take the time to check in and understand what my body has been up to since our previous visit. Aside from adjustments alone, I'm often offered heat, electrical stimulation and cold laser therapy to supplement my care. Emma and Christina at the front desk have been an absolute dream to work with. Everything from coordinating with insurance to getting scheduled has been smooth. I look forward to chatting with the gals every time I come in, they're always very warm and kind! Nicole the massage therapist here has an incredible gift. She has a specialized method of locating and releasing tension that is reminiscent of pressure point work and the gratin method. After my first session, my shoulders literally dropped 2 inches further away from my ears - I left feeling renewed and lighter. As an avid believer and massage paired with chiropractic care for literally years and years I can honestly say I've never had this drastic and lasting of a result. Through continued care, I'm pleased to report that my upper body released even more stress and stored trauma and I have never felt better. She's also a genuine and beautiful soul! I typically don't prefer to talk during sessions, but have during a handful of ours and am so grateful for the aligned, healing connection that I've experienced. This review is long overdue. Seven years ago I was rear ended and met Dr. Ryan. All previous doctors just said where's it hurt, did an adjustment and asked for a payment. Dr. Ryan took the time to talk with me about the accident, previous injuries, current activity and recommended we do x-rays to make sure there weren't any surprises. This attention to detail was the difference of me finding out that my spine was severely out of place from the accident. I am feeling great now, and visit his office to give my body a tune up when I push things a little too hard. Dr. Ryan and Dr. Shayna are both excellent! I've had back issues for years and it is all finally manageable thanks to the team at Back to Basics. After a back injury while moving and lifting heavy boxes I shouldn't have, they got me in right away, did X-rays to see what the issue was, then created a great treatment plan and walked me through every step of the way to make sure I felt my best. They even have an incredible laser machine that has really helped my back. I now see them every 4-6 weeks for adjustments and to make sure my alignment is on track - sitting at a desk all day working on the computer really does a number on your neck. I started going to B2B in 2008 after injuring myself rollerblading (don't ask... it was a stupid mistake that lead to tweaking my back and leg). I was in so much pain! It hurt to sleep, to sit, to drive... everything. I was 28 years old and yet I felt like I was 70!!! I tried massage first and that didn't help and I was desperate for help. I wasn't new to chiropractic care--I had seen chiropractors as a teen in Florida and always had good results with the doctor my parents saw. But, I was also aware that not all chiropractic offices are truly interested in healing the patient. So, I searched google for local chiropractic offices and read lots of reviews. Back to Basics seemed to be legit, so i made an appointment with Dr Tom that day. After chatting about the injury that led me to seek his help, he took X-rays and we talked about what was going on. He then did more measurements and after some e-stim, he adjusted me. I immediately felt relief from the debilitating pain and scheduled a follow up for a few days later. After about two weeks of bi-weekly visits, I was pain-free and back to normal!!! I have been continuing to see Dr Tom and Dr Ryan for the past 10 years on an as-needed basis to adjust my back and neck. I find both doctors incredibly gentle, skilled, and professional. They listen intently to your needs and complaints and will try a variety of methods to help you--whatever is most appropriate for the issue you are dealing with. They are knowledgeable in chiropractic care as well as physical therapy treatments and have an acupuncturist and massage therapists on staff as well. If you haven't scheduled a massage with their therapists, do it now! They're both amazing! Nicole, the receptionist/office manager extraordinaire is warm, welcoming and very helpful. 3 years ago I had some really major back problems and this place was recommended by a co worker. I had a great experience with them and after doing some sessions with them my back felt a lot better. Fast forward 3 years and my pain came back. Going to a regular doctor only nets me pain medication which I'm not a big fan of, so I decided to go back to back to basics.
