all I can say is wow I am amazed at how quickly Tara Pierce was able to resolve the pain in my hip and right buttock. I had been walking around with this pain for over a year, but it had started really interfering with my walking gate and the pain started extending down the outside of my right leg into the outer knee and even waking me up while I was sleeping. I realized I had to do something, but I wasn't quite sure what to do beyond taking anti-inflammatories which didn't seem to do anything. I found Oc Well Studio on yelp, and decided to give it a try. I met with Tara for a consultation and gave her my entire background. She was very patient kind understanding and really willing to get a good grasp on what was going on with me, the types of activities I was doing, and what I thought might be the issue. Tara is incredibly skilled. She is a chiropractor, but that isn't going to be necessarily her first go to. I was interested in acupuncture as I've had it before and it has been effective, she suggested dry needling, which in layman's terms from my perspective as a combination of acupuncture with electrical stimulation so I guess the electrical current goes deeper into your muscle. After the very first treatment, I noticed a difference. After three treatments, I had no pain in my knee or down my leg and the pain in my hip and buttock was tremendously reduced, and I was walking normally again and able to participate in all my activities. The next two times I went in, we did a very minimal chiropractic adjustment. and that was it! I'm sorry to say I'm cured! Because she is so wonderful and the office is beautiful and the staff is amazing and I think I may just go back just to say hi to everybody and maybe get a massage! I am so very, very thrilled that within weeks the pain I had injured for over a year was gone, and has not come back again even two months later. I have been suffering for the last year or so with arthritis in my left shoulder due to shoulder instability surgery (shoulder dislocation) way back in 1990. Because I tend to favor the shoulder, the muscles from my neck through my shoulder blade had become very stiff and loaded with tension. Tension that a normal massage, Motrin, etc. could not improve. I started seeing Dr. Pierce about a month ago and have had 4 dry needling sessions. She has really mitigated the pain. After 1 session I noticed a 50% improvement in the tension. I have just completed my 4th session of weekly dry needling and the pain is almost gone. The dry needling procedure does not hurt at all, just relief. I'm an aspiring aerialist/contortionist and while injuries tend to come with the territory, this one was a doozy. In March of 2018, I suffered a fairly severe right hamstring tear while training on silks. The pain was excruciating and I was afraid of just how badly I had injured myself. My fellow aerialists told me they had all suffered the same injury at one time or another with most getting back to full training after 10-12 months. That was just too long for me! I came to Dr. Pierce after hearing wonderful things about dry needling for injuries, but had previously seen her for acupuncture. It's been 6 weeks since we started treatments (once per week) and my hamstring is 98% healed, which is amazing to say the least. The pain was so bad, I was unable to walk for the first 10 days after the initial injury. Three months later, I'm back to training splits 3-4x per week. While I was and still am diligent with my rehabilitation exercises, nothing touched the pain and sensitivity I was dealing with until we started dry needling. We've also been needling a few other chronic trigger points in my trapezius and left hamstring with the same amount of success. So... Dr. Pierce is GLORIOUS!!!!!!!!! I have had the unfortunate luck to be involved in back to back motor vehicle accidents. I had been receiving "care" from approved locations within my health provider with no real benefit. I did not feel they were healing me, helping me or teaching me on how to improve my body, which was in enormous amounts of pain. I was having muscle spasms, tightness, daily headaches, migraines and unable to be active, which I am very very active. My life was halted and I was struggling. I did not want to take medications, I wanted something more, not a temporary fix. Headaches were so bad I would be brought to tears. Dr. Pierce is incredible. I'm an elite athlete training full-time (in the sport of rowing), and I came to her practically immobile after about four days with lower back & hip pain that came on quite suddenly (and that kept me off the water & limited my crosstraining & weight lifting options). Obviously injury is the enemy of any athlete, and I was scared about how it was going to impact my training & career. I went to Dr Pierce for chiropractic & dry needling work, and it was almost instantaneous relief. There was a huge decrease in pain and increase in mobility the very next day, and by the next week I was back on the water with nearly full range of motion. I've been seeing her weekly/every other week since, and the pain is gone. She's been wonderful at helping me not only keep the pain away, but working with my coaches and myself to help me move properly & strengthen the proper muscles, allowing me to fix the cause for the issues in the first place (as opposed to just remedying the pain). I've had back problems for years. Herniated the same disc twice and it's been misery ever since. Tried A lot of PT without any success, swimming, yoga, you name it I tried it. The second herniation was right before my wedding. Dry needling got me back on my feet and able to function in about two sessions. When I moved out to California I was looking for an acupuncturist to help me with my back pain. Found dr. Pierce and haven't looked anywhere else. I hurt my back again when moving into my new place and went straight to her. After about 2 weeks of sessions I was able to get back to working out and after 2 months of sessions I'm back to lifting (lightly). Additionally, she gives core strength exercises that have been helping me prevent future back problems. Haven't had my back act up since I've seen her. Highly recommend her for acupuncture. And lumbar spine complications. Side note, I don't do bAck manipulation often, if ever. Dr. Pierce was reluctant to do any manipulation until she made sure I went to my back doctor and imaging showed no structural issues. I'll be doing manipulation with her soon to help increase my range of motion, but as a nurse, this was an amazing part of her practice that I really appreciated; making sure that I didn't have any limitations from a structural standpoint before she started her treatment ensured me that she knows exactly what she's doing in every aspect of her practice. read more

As a massage therapist of 10+ years I have been around a good number of chiropractors. Dr. Pierce is by far one of the most intuitive practitioners I've had the pleasure of working with! The initial evaluation covered all the basics but also if you had more input to give she is intently listening and constantly taking notes. I know a practice can be very busy and sometimes if feels more like a factory of patients vs a center of wellness.. but throughout the whole process I never once felt rushed. Dr. Pierce has been nothing short of amazing and a life saver. Sometime in July 2015 I woke up with severe pain, tightness, stiffness in my lower back. Initially, primary care physician referred me out for physical therapy which didn't help. Eventually I was seen by an orthopedist and sent out for diagnostic testing. According to the orthopedist, my results were all negative. The orthopedist opined that "back problems just happen." His solution for my back was drugs - lots of drugs. Eventually in September 2015, I wound up in the emergency room because my back pain became intolerable. I was given more drugs in the emergency room. The following day I was given a Cortizone shot to my L4-L5 and a prescription for more drugs; this time more powerful drugs. The Cortizone and the drugs did not help. They simply masked my pain. Again the prescribed treatment was more drugs. In fact, I was offered another cortisone shot 2 weeks after my initial shot. In sum, I was seen by pain management doctor, my primary care practitioner, an orthopedist, a physical therapist and two different chiropractors. No one offered help. No one offered any real explanation. Everyone gave me "cookie-cutter" treatment like stretch and take these drugs. I was in terrible pain. My life as I knew it had drastically changed. I'm an active person and regularly exercise 3 to 4 times a week. I'm also an attorney and do a lot of sitting in an office. My back pain made every aspect of my life difficult. Thankfully, I did some research and found Dr. Pierce on yelp. I gave her a shot and I'm happy to say it's one of the better decisions I have made. My initial evaluation was long and thorough, not just a quick "what hurts you" 15 minute evaluation. After the evaluation she pinpointed the potential problem areas in my body and give me a specific treatment plan of action to address my issues. I've been seeing Dr. Pierce for approximately two months, both for chiropractic care and acupuncture. I'm almost pain-free!!! My life has returned back to normal. I can exercise again, work around the house, and do all the things I used to do prior to my back injury. What I really appreciate about Dr. Pierce is her commitment to educating her patients. What I mean by that, is she really takes the time to explain what is happening in my body and how her treatment plan will help with my symptoms. Dr Pierce is a wonderful chiropractor and acupuncturist. I found her shortly after moving to the area when I was looking for a practitioner certified in the Graston technique for my neck, shoulders, and upper back. Dr Pierce listened to my medical history and developed a treatment strategy including a mix of muscle manipulation (including Graston), traditional chiropractic, and acupuncture.
