Finally got around to trying this place after hearing rave reviews about it. We ordered the Boardwalk Tony and the Carnizza. The Boardwalk Tony, which is an upside down pizza, was very good. The Carnizza, with pepperoni and sausage was good, but very greasy. We also had the butterscotch budino, which was excellent. Overall, this was very good pizza, but not as great as it is hyped up to be. And the prices are higher than basically every other place in the area. So, while good, I'll stick with some other spots that I think are better. read more

We ordered the Vodka, Hold the Tonic pizza with sausage as an additional topping. The pros: the pizza was ok, but not great. The cons: the pizza was burnt both on top and on the bottom crust, resulting in a bitter taste. Coal fired pizzas do not have to be burnt, but this place burns them. We saw the pictures on-line and said: "They look burnt." Yup, well that's what you'll get. Also, the sausage topping was $5.00, and let's just say they gave out the sausage with an eye dropper. Ordered here for the first time - went into farm/fisherman about an hour before and had a couple drinks - when it was time for pickup; just drove around to the "back door". Ordered a white pie with half broccoli and half sausage - I actually wanted broccoli on half of the pizza and sausage on the other half - what I got was both sausage and broccoli on 1/2 and the other half was just plain white - My fault for not specifying more clearly when I ordered. Also had the Caesar salad which was beyond great. Pizza was so tasty but a little doughy for my preference. I much prefer a thinner crust - but it was very good. I've been wanting to try Back Door Pizza for so long and finally got a chance to order. The pies are a bit pricey but probably worth the quality. I got the Broccoli Woccoli, which was really different from any other pizza I've ever had down to the cream based sauce and pepper jam. I didn't get to eat it while it was hot (my own fault) but overall the flavors were good but not my favorite. I would like to try it again and try additional pies. read more

30 years in South Jersey and finally a top rated pizza place. This pizza is as good as any as I have ever had in South Jersey white with some veggies and pepperoni/sausage was made to perfection with tons of toppings. I gotta go back for more, love the ordering process make me feel like I am buying booze from the prohibition days lol worth the trip and about 10 minutes from my house. OMg that's good pizza. They only way a person could possibly NOT like Backdoor Pizza is if they didn't get a slice. I placed my order online as directed by this speakeasy of a pizza kitchen and started my drive from work. Other reviewer's have said it is a very speakeasy style place. They were not kidding. One must drive behind a strip mall...you know what that area looks like right? Dumpsters, employee vehicles, poor lighting and puddles of mystery moisture that never seems to evaporate even though it hasn't rained in 4 months. So that's what I did, I drove the Malibu behind a strip mall and the first think I see is a bunch of dudes lined up at a door. What in the world?? So I parked and watched. The door opened, a hand came out holding a pizza box and one by one the queue of pizza enthusiasts dissipated. Ok, my turn. I got out of the car and walked to the door. There was a hand written sign that said "knock here for pizza". So I knocked. The door opened and a young woman asked my name and handed me a box. "Enjoy," she exclaimed before disappearing behind the door. There is no door knob so don't think you're going to get in there...cause you're not. Ok, now we begin the drive home. The car was permitted with the fragrance of basil, spices, and tomatoes. At the second traffic light I lifted the lid to see what was calling to me so strongly from inside that cardboard box. Holy Crap that looks good I thought to myself. Actually I think I said it out loud. Leave me alone, it was dark, I was alone and hungry and the traffic was brutal. Anyway!! After a challenging ride home the pizza was icy cold. I had a guest and asked 'should we heat it up?' Nope, we ate the whole thing icy cold and I would do it again. It is one of the top 3 pizzas I have ever eaten. I read the reviews and also spoke with staff at Farm&Fisherman so not sure if comments were hyperbole or not. They weren't. I don't know why I haven't heard of this sooner but thanks to my son forwarding me a TikTok reviewing it, we are now big fans! This is probably the best pizza I've ever had. Do I think everyone will love it? Nope. You must like wood fired pizza and appreciate the little bit of char flavor you get from it. We tried the plain which was good but the real star was the Margherita for me. The crust was thin but not floppy and had the perfect crunch plus it was not bland as many local places are. I ordered online and if you use the directions on their website, it takes you to the wrong location. Just put in Farm & Fisherman to find it easily. We drove around back thanks to an easy to see sign and I got out to knock on the door. I could hear some Phil Collins blasting in the kitchen & had to knock several times before he opened the door and handed us our boxes. I definitely recommend checking this place out. I can't wait to try another, along with some of the other offerings. We dug in before taking a proper pic but shared a pic of our leftovers which we enjoyed today. read more

Stumbled upon this place via a community Facebook page post and boy was I glad I did. This is literally the back door of the venerable Farm and Fisherman one of our favorite restaurants. For those who lamented Angelos of Haddonfield leaving for South Philly like we were, this place fills the void. We had a plain, Meat Jawn (meatball) and Mr McKale (kale pesto) plus a Caesar salad with pistachios. Everything was amazing. Crust had a slight char and just the right amount of chew. Sauces, cheese, topping were all done with the right amount of restraint and balance. Ordering is easy online but beware hours are very limited (today was 2-7:30). Pickup easy in the back alley behind F and F with a masked worker who can drop it in back of your car. I really hope this stays and isn't just a pop up. We will be back read more

Don't let the sketchy alley fool you. This is some of the BEST pizza I've had in a LONG time! My son and I were traveling and decided to look for some good Jersey pizza rather than eating at a purnpike rest-stop. We looked for pizza on Yelp and stumbled upon Back Door Pizza. I'm so glad we found it. You have to order on their website--I would recommend ordering ahead. It took ~70 minutes to get our order on a Friday night. We got a cheese pie with mushrooms and kalamata olives. The crust was chewy and perfectly charred, sauce had the perfect balance of garlic and sweetness, and the cheese was delectable. Pizzas come in only one size--16 inch. We had a tailgate party and ate it straight from the car while it was still hot. You MUST go hear if you are nearby. read more
