I've been here three times and the first massage was adequate, but the second two were much better. The price is reasonable and I found the place very nice and comfortable, I have seen much worse. Looking for a spa concierge to greet you with a complimentary $10 bottle of water then guide you through the extensive (and ridiculous) list of services? Not the place for you. A few tips: (1) get the table shower, very relaxing and worth the extra 20 bucks. (2) if your therapist is relative small, which most are, ask for "table service," in which the therapist joins you on the table for the massage, definitely increases the pressure due to the leverage factor. (3) if people are speaking loudly ask your therapist to quiet them. Usually works. Happy customer, bigger tip! (4) if you want to be totally pampered, ask for "button service" where the therapist unbuttons and removes your clothes at the outset and then puts them back on at the end of the massage - sounds a little weird, but it is soooo relaxing. No funny business, just button service. No extra charge for "table service" or "button service," but, as always, tip generously. Have a great massage! read more

Wow, this place is not worth the price. I called up and was told that a one hour massage was $50, when I got there it was more expensive, but I thought it'd be fine since I saw so many positive yelp reviews. The massage itself was terrible --never-had-such-a-bad-massage-in-my-life kind of terrible. I had a middle aged woman that was just using one hand on my back, and when I turned around to ask her to apply some pressure, she wasn't even looking at me! I asked her over and over to go stronger, and for about a minute she would do it and then go back to lazy fingers. This went on throughout the whole hour. Then she had the audacity to stand right by me as I was paying to make sure she got a tip. My boyfriend paid since he knew I was about to leave a $1 tip. Worst place I've ever been to. Use a groupon and go somewhere else, you'll actually leave relaxed. read more

Though I reside in Chicago, I was recently visiting my friend in Boston. He worked the first day I was in town, so I was left to fend for myself. Therefore, in total girl-alone-in-a-new-city fashion, I felt like treating myself and doing something I wouldn't normally "spontaneously" do in my "regular life" back in Chicago: Impromptu Day O' Beauty! I used Yelp to search "massage" and this place got such favorable reviews. Holy cow -after my service, I can see why! For $88, I got a TWO HOUR MASSAGE! Lisa was my therapist and she was very sweet and accommodating. The service started with a hot foot bath and a cup of green tea. As I sat reading my gossip magazines, I was in heaven! Then came an HOUR LONG FOOT MASSAGE....uhhhh, I'm getting worked up just thinking about it. That was followed by an HOUR LONG BODY MASSAGE! The place was clean and well kept up. Some of what the other Yelpers are saying is true -they were speaking to one another room to room -and there is no ceiling on each room so you could hear the "chop chop" sound of the other therapists pounding away. But hey, for the price, it was an excellent experience that I kept gushing about all day to anyone who would listen! Lisa was very sweet and kept asking if everything was ok -the pressure -if she was hurting me. I like how she asked for feedback. There was one moment during the foot massage it was a bit too hard and i told her and she eased up and it was perfect. Always be sure just to let your therapist know if anything is uncomfortable and they will adjust it right away. She was so good I overheard another woman asking for an appointment with her who initially wanted to get a massage right away. Since Lisa was busy with me, this customer was willing to come back later just to see her! Great experience, great price. Highly recommend to any visitors or "natives" who are looking for a little R&R! read more

Ive been sorely disappointed with this place twice now. The first time I went here I asked for a deep tissue massage. The woman who massaged me gave me the weakest massage I have ever received. I asked her to massage stronger three times throughout the massage and even though she said "yes" I don't think she understood. I ended up paying $60 to basically get lotion rubbed on my back. I decided to try one more time and went back. This time it was a man giving the massage and although the massage was strong enough, it seemed very haphazard. Also, he was barefoot and his feet stunk. I don't plan on going back to this place ever again. read more

This place used to be better. The package I usually get went up over 20% and the masseuse whined that her $10 tip wasn't enough. She said I used to tip the other girl more.. So now it's $120 out the door and not looking like the great value it had been. Lost my enthusiasm about this place. read more

Highly recommend this place. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate me. The massage was superb. Only thing I didn't like was that the rooms are not 100% private. The wall that separates the rooms doesn't fully reach the ceiling so you can hear when someone else is talking in another room. read more

Excellent foot massage place! I was super ticklish but the masseuse did a nice job. I finally got to fulfill my reflexology foot massage dream. And it was with it. I'm a big fan of reflexology as a concept, and find that it works quite well. I enjoy the idea of detoxing as well and this environment, while not fancy, gets the job done. I felt very comfortable and the price is absolutely right. Plus you get a cool rewards card so if you indulge multiple times you can get a great deal. I will likely be back again before the summer has ended. The staff was nice, and the quality was excellent for what you pay for. Location is a little hard to find at first, but once you know where you're headed, you can miss it. Plus, it's right by Newbury St and the convention center so you can peek your head in after and try not to buy anything. read more

Great price -$59 (must pay cash) for 60 min massage. The woman was extremely thorough and used perfect pressure throughout. Like everyone else says, the place is very clean but casual. read more

Went here for a couples massage. They were very flexible with time and scheduling was not an issue whatsoever. I knew from the price not to expect the luxury of a $250- $500 couples massage like some parlors charge in Boston. The facility was clean and fairly quiet for the time we were there. For $118 plus tip we had a very nice relaxing hour, the massage was nice and I enjoyed the hot rocks. Would recommend if you are looking for a nice relaxing experience at low cost. read more

Returned twice and both times had amazing experiences. They really do a thorough job and provide exactly what you ask. Got Wendy for an excellent repeat of the previous session and Tina last time. Tina is also very skilled, and an incredibly pleasant person, as I really appreciated her talented skill set, soothing nature and attention to detail. Left feeling so relaxed and invigorated; additionally, both my hips and lower back felt fantastic as we made our way around the city. A great place on many levels, staff, cost, rooms, two thumbs up for the Rainbow Health Center. Lastly, bring cash, a bit of a better deal and make sure to tip well! read more

I was riding by Rainbow Health Center on my way to work one morning. I was drawn to the sandwich board that was outside their office displaying their services. Something made me want to go in and have a reflexology session. I have been suffering from a health issue so I thought I'd give myself a gift. While sitting with my feet in water, I saw the meridian chart on the wall. I completely forgot that your feet have points that corresponded to all parts of your body. My problem has been related to digestion so although the area of the colon (arch area of the foot) did hurt during the massage, I was surprised to find the side of my foot really hurting! I asked the woman what part of the body that corresponded to and she pointed to the knee on the chart. I was surprised because I have no problem with my knees. Well, at least I didn't think so but the next morning, I woke up and my knee was killing me! Obviously, I had a chi block there and she loosened it. The pain represents detoxification. I was thrilled, what a revelation! The only downside (which is why I didn't give this place 5 stars) is that the person who did my reflexology did not speak English. Most there do not. It's unfortunate that you cannot discuss what the therapist is doing, and even ask to focus on certain areas. I asked her another question at one point and she did not understand me at all so I never got an answer. But the fact that it's only a couple blocks away from my work, and you can't beat the price, I'll be going back. read more

I really like this place. I have been there 3 times and used Wei each time. He is great at his craft. He is strong and seems to find each and every knot in my body. This place is bare bones, no fancy candles, no incense but if you are looking for a good value and a good massage then I highly recommend it. Also language is a bit of a barrier but I think for the price, location and skill it is a great fine. Highly recommended. read more

I've had a lot of massages in my life. This was just about as good as it gets. Strong, deep tissue, warm towels, clean rooms, professional in every way. And, it is in a very charming part of town. Unless you feel like spending $20 more at the local hotel spas, make rainbow part of your trip to Boston. I was very happy. read more

WOW! I wanted a cheap massage at lunch and I found it! Who knew it existed RIGHT in back bay! This is a hidden gem. The beds are normal with a nice head rest. It's clean. The girls are super friendly! You can use a card for tips. They even offer you water at the end. $40 for 30 min or $55 for an hour. DEF worth the $55. Highly recommended. I had Emma who was really good catering to my needs. There is a little street traffic and she will giggle and talk a little but if that saves me $100000 dollars I'm all for it! read more

My wife and I came here for a couple's massage. We both had an amazing experience. The ambiance was relaxing and the rooms were very clean. Our masseuses asked us how we wanted our massages (harder, lighter) and if there were any spots we wanted extra attention. They were quiet the entire time and were very thorough. I cannot wait to go back. Ask for Tina! read more

Great price. But you get what you pay for. My boyfriend and I got a couples massages. When they walked into the room they took the towel off of him and exposed him naked and then started laughing. Weird. The tables were the WORST part so uncomfortable and ergonomically unsound. You have to get a chiropractic adjustment after lying on one of those tables for one hour. The massage wasn't even "deep" like they claim and we both felt rushed. read more

Wow great service and great price especially for the location they are in. I had a Groupon and this was my first time with my girlfriend and we both loved it. Will definitely be back read more

Horrible experience. I called to set an appointment, but they wouldn't give me a specific time, and instead told me to come right over. I said I would be 20 minutes to 1/2 hour, and got there 35 minutes later. They said that they were full and couldn't take me, and castigated me for being late (5 whole minutes!). They said that if I came back in 1/2 hour they would have a slotso I decided to go out, walk around Newbury St. for a bit, and then go back. When I got back at exactly the time we agreed to, another person - not the woman on the phone, nor the guy in scrubs who had originally turned me away and told me to come back - said that it would be another "10 or 15 minutes", and blamed "the manager" for giving me misinformation. At that point I called the number I had originally called, and could hear the phone ringing in the back. But the person who answered - the same woman with whom I had originally spoken - wouldn't come speak with me, and then hung up when I tried to complain about having been jerked around So, I wasted well over an hour and still didn't get my back spasms attended to. This is clearly a shoddy little operation which cares primarily about maximizing its churn. I have no idea whether or not they actually give good massages - I had gone on the recommendation of a friend, who said that she liked them - but they obviously treat people like cash dispensers without regard for their time, trouble, or need (I am still in a lot of pain...even worse from the tension caused by my aggravation). As far as I'm concerned their approach has more in common with running a bordello then an establishment that is supposed to take care of stressed out people who might also be in serious pain. My advice: whatever you do, don't expect to be able to count on them, or deal with them if time and reliability are a concern. read more

This has been my go-to massage place in Boston since I moved here a few months ago. The place is centrally located right by Newbury and I can always get an appointment in (which is definitely recommended). The space is fairly clean but of course don't expect spa-like environment. The masseuses have varied in quality quite a bit, but there are good ones, so I would recommend finding one you like and sticking with him/her. The value you get here is pretty decent. read more

The room I was in was small and there is some overheard conversations and reception talk due to the open ceiling but that is expected. Good pressure on a deep tissue 60 minute massage, professional and non talkative as it should be. Came back and got a 30 min foot reflexology with the GF. Also very well done and we didn't even have an appointment on a Saturday evening. I will go back again. read more

I am hooked now and become a weekly regular. Recommend Vicky for deep tissue massage.

Awesome Awesome Awesome. Did I say Awesome? The price is right - about 50% less than the "best" and "not so best" spas out there. You can ask for the treatment to be less forceful and they accomodate willingly. Very plain accomodations. Clean. Easy to get appt or walk in. You can easily pass 2 hours here without breaking the bank. A great find. read more

I woke up with a sore neck, and searched for a reasonably-priced massage place to try to alleviate my pain -- also to avoid the many places I've had bummer massages. I walked into Rainbow, was greeted super courteously, and was treated to one of the best massages I've had in my life -- at one of the lowest prices, too! This place is great. Lara absolutely rocks. Amazing. I left without pain in my neck, and feeling like I got 4 Seasons-like treatment at a fraction of the price. This is my new favorite go-to. I'm telling everyone, even if it means I'll need to start making scheduled appointments! Thanks, Rainbow. Keep up the good work. read more

If you are serious about getting a good message avoid this place. It is not terrible. However, the staff is very unprofessional. We came in for a couple's massage and they were speaking the whole time. Background music was not relaxing at all. It was more like an elevator music. Really amateur. read more

I came here on the recommendation from a friend of mine who is a professional massage therapist and boy was he right. Had a 90 min massage from Jerry today. His technique and pressure was great. Really enjoyed the hot stone treatment toward the end of the massage. Also I appreciated the hot towels and being wiped down to remove excess oil. All for $89 cash. You just can't go wrong. read more

I have had massages at every nice spa in Boston, and I have to say, this place is the best. I recommend both Tony and Jenny, the price can't be beat. It's definitely no frills, but very quiet and clean and I can call the day of to get an appointment. I also loved the reflexology foot rubs...amazing, especially if you spend a lot of time on your feet. read more

YES YES and yes. One hour massage in a very clean and professional environment for $59? As I said, yes.

Thank you so much Tina for an excellent deep tissue massage. I was very happy with your experience, care, and professionalism. I went in with a lot of pain on my shoulder and lower back and came out so relieved. I will be back! read more

This place is awful. I have made numerous appointments to show up and be told that I needed to what 30 mins to an hour after my scheduled time. One instance I was undressed in the room, on the table, when someone came in and told me they messed up appointments and I would need to leave. I went back a few times after that awful experience only to have them mess up my scheduled appointments again. Not sure if it's a translation issue but they need to figure it out. If you actually have an appointment the massages are good but not worth the drama. read more

Another Phenom Massage at Rainbow!. Amy did an amazing job. I highly recommend.

Great massage!!! Friendly staff and great price! Definitely not a fancy spa or anything but it's worth it.

I have been incredibly uncomfortable. One of my hip flexors was a total mess and my shoulders were the usual tight knotted balls of stress. One word. MIng She was amazing. If you need an excellent massage. See her. Now. read more

I have been here a few times as it is near my office and my results have been mixed. The location itself is clean, but kind of cramped on space. The walls in the massage room do not go up all the way so you can sometimes here the conversation in the room over, which can be annoying. The girls giving the massage speak very little to no english so communication can sometimes be difficult. The massage itself has been great, to just awful. It really is hit or miss with who you will get. Perhaps it is best to call ahead and request someone if you like their skills. Turnover seems high on the staff as everytime I have gone in there is someone new. Price is very good for the area compared to the Newbury Street spas, but sometimes you get what you pay for I guess. read more

Hands down the best massage I have ever received. No, the location is not fancy or ritzy, but everyone is super professional and my body has never felt this great immediately after a massage! read more

This is the first time ever for me to write a negative review on Yelp... My boyfriend and I booked a couple massage with hot stone at Rainbow via Groupon. I have tried massages from many different places, but this one is by far the worst. A female and a male massage "therapists" attended to us, neither of them seemed to be trained properly at all! The male masseuse had cigaret smell all over him, and I honest felt like laundry or potatoes skin being rubbed harshly. I personally preferred "deep tissue" massage, but the one he gave was something that he probably learnt from an outdated video without practicing on real human. The female masseuse, on the other hand, gave the lightest "rubbing" that you could ever imagine. I cannot call what we received massage since there was no skills involved, maybe "paid rubbing" is more a appropriate to describe it. The hot stone part wasn't as bad but it was very brief. I do not understand all the positive comments at all and would not return for sure! read more

Negative comments : the guy never told what to do when I got into the little room, he just closed the door. Positive comments : he asks you if you want it soft or strong (I asked for strong) and he definitely did as requested. It was kind of painful but I have a high tolerance for it plus no pain no gain right. He doesn't rush and he makes sure everything is fine when he goes starts putting more pressure (shoulder blades and hips will hurt) and during the foot massage he definitely a perfect job (he gets calves too) the pricing for the two of these were worth every penny read more

Really great massage and that's what it's only about isn't it?! Reading other reviews yes, the setting is basic and you can hear conversations in other rooms. But the massage is amazing and double so if you consider the price (which contrary to another review is clearly displayed on an illuminated sign at reception). \ $59 gets you an hour of attention on whatever bits need it. I've got knots that belong in the navy that were fixed. It's an undressed face down massage that starts off dry (under a towel) and then with creams. Yes the booking system is chaotic, 4 girls turned up as a I was leaving insisting they had a reservation that through the slightly bonkers owner into a panic. But if the saying is you pay for what you get, you get double here. read more

It was very loud in there , u felt like massage was rushed .. couldn't be at peace with all the loud talking and yelling

They did not speak good English or communicate what the next step was throughout the appointment. Mark took care of me. The massage was deep - perhaps too deep and he never asked if it was comfortable, perhaps I should have spoke up but he is the professional. The service was named body works but only a couple minutes was spent on the arms/hands and one minute on legs. There was a negative attitude when I did not want to extend the time beyond 30 minutes. The room was so small, the tech was bumping into things and virtually in top of me. One good thing was they were available when I walked in. Perhaps other techs are better than Mark. read more

the ambient is really subpar, and the masseuse never asked me about pressure. He just started and it was one hour of torture. When finished, the guy forced me to pay 20% tip on top of $59 cash. I hesitated, and he insulted me in Chinese, which he didnt know that I'm fluent in. The massage was so bad, I'm now feeling beaten up and I have to tell everybody about it. read more
