After spending a very long day at City of Hope with mother, she asked me to pick a nice restaurant and she loves Italian. We've been driving by this restaurant for a while and since it was on the way home we popped in. We were greeted instantly and immediately shown to a booth. My mother wanted lasagna, so we ordered that first thing with our drinks while my sister and I browsed the menu. She ordered the chicken parmesan. I'm on the carnivore diet, so I ordered the meatballs with a chicken side. (So many restaurants don't make it possible to accommodate carnivore diets, but they did! So, I eat out with my family more often now!) Everything was delicious. The food was delicious, fresh and my mother especially enjoyed the olive oil with balsamic vinegar that came with the bread. (Great quality olive oil, a beautiful and rich green color.) Everyone was friendly. Our server, who happened to be tending the bar as well, very graciously made me a raspberry mojito without mint because I have mint allergies. He was the FIRST bartender to make it without questioning it and it was PERFECT! Lovely service, great atmosphere, food was delicious and fresh. First time and probably the last time eating here. We went on a Saturday afternoon, but were not expecting only 2 other small parties seated in the booths. The restaurant was very clean and nicely decorated. The service was very good - our waitress was friendly and helpful. I ordered the chicken Parmesan and was NOT impressed. I can't really give it a fair review for an Italian restaurant because we actually only ate appetizers but if you like Bruschetta, pronounced Brusketta not Brushetta, for all you non Italian foodies, this is not traditional but pretty darn good. The bread and oil they serve when you first get there it was actually very good, the bread was very soft and flavorful.. The iced tea is nice and clear and tastes good, I'm a big tea drinker so I had to add that. The restaurant is very clean and neat and the service was very good. Next time we come, we'll have to actually eat the Italian food and give a real assessment of their food and how it taste here. But for now, here you go and at least give it a try. read more

Beautiful design restaurant with a clean modern design mixed with historic pictures. There is plenty of seating with areas for private parties. The service is friendly but slow. The menu has options for all Italian cravings. The food is good but not amazing. The lasagna is the best ish I have tried, the bolognese lacks flavor. After years of just trying Babbo to go we decided to try eating at the restaurant and it was just as good if not better! Our faves are the Great White Buffalo pasta , Brussels and Beets appetizer which also has a healthy amount goat cheese in it (so yum) and recently discovered their dessert Zeppoli- amazing deep fried dough with cinnamon sugar (I think). The service was a bit slow at lunch on a weekday, but they made up for it through great food. read more

The food was very good -- the gnocchi was excellent, and the wedge salad was packed with flavor. Service was solid; our server was especially attentive once the food arrived. The crispy chicken parm sandwich was just okay -- a bit too much bread compared to the chicken, and it could have used more seasoning. It was a tad bit over cooked, but lacking that extra punch of flavor. The interior of the restaurant is nicely done, but it felt like something was missing -- maybe some music or ambient lighting to set the mood. I thought Babbo was great! I had no idea that they were located so close in Goodyear. They are just past the Harkins theater on McDowell all by themselves. It was Valentines Day and we were in the mood for Italian food. Because I didn't reserve in advance, I called to ask about a reservation. I was told that reservations were only taken for large parties. Good for us. They said that there was no wait, so we headed out! The place smelled delicious when we entered and was elegantly decorated. There were about four other couple ahead of us, so we were told that there would be a 40 minute wait. We decided to wait at the bar. The bar was so nice and the bartender all over the service, that we decided to dine there. We were immediately served really good best gooey bread with olive oil and balsamic. I thought that was a really excellent start. Only 10 minutes later the hostess asked if we still wanted our table, but were happy, so stayed put. I was boring, and decided a wanted classic spaghetti and meatballs. My wife had roasted shrimp and vegetables. The spaghetti was some of the best that I've had at at a restaurant and my wife was impressed wither her shrimp as well. We thought the whole experience was great. Great atmosphere, great service & great food! I was thrilled to have a new restaurant in the area look forward to my next visit to Babbo! read more

We had a great dinner at Babbo's Italian Eatery in Goodyear! We ordered the Valducci, the eggplant parmigiana, and a kids' mini calzone -- everything was delicious. The Valducci was packed with flavor, the eggplant parm was perfectly cooked, and even the kids' calzone was a hit. The food came out surprisingly fast, which was a nice bonus -- especially with a hungry kids. The ambience was really nice -- casual but warm and welcoming. Staff were lovely - no issues there. However, the food I ordered was so salty, it was inedible. I had GREAT WHITE BUFFALO with a Creamy Gorgonzola Sauce. Served on Linguine topped with Gorgonzola. I suspect chef emptied a jar of garlic salt on the food thinking Italian is served that way. I'm afraid I couldn't even taste any Gorgonzola. My husband and I went to Babbo on my birthday for an early dinner on a Friday around 4:30 pm. We had originally made reservations for 5:30 on open table, but our matinee ended earlier than expected. When we arrived we were seated right away and offered a booth which was nice. The lighting was nice and our waitress was excellent. I ordered one of her recommended dishes and wish I would have tried both of her recommendations. I will next time. We were able to order a bottle of wine and get appetizers from the happy hour menu. We did the seafood artichoke dip, firecracker egg rolls with steak, pesto pasta, and the sunset tortellini which were all delish. I almost chose to go somewhere else after reading some of the other reviews, but I'm really glad I didn't. From the moment we walked in, the experience was great. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the service was attentive and welcoming, and the food was honestly really good. We were there celebrating a birthday, and they went above and beyond by bringing out an amazing dessert to make the moment feel special. It was a thoughtful touch that didn't go unnoticed. As someone who works in hospitality and dines out often at all types of restaurants, I pay close attention to the full experience, and this place delivered. I had high hopes for this place but we kept eating at our normal Italian restaurants but for Father's Day we wanted to try something new and that was a big mistake on our end. We both got a pasta and some focaccia bread and both pastas were bland and did not taste at all. The sauce separated completely in mine and that's all that was left. We ended up throwing 66.68$ worth of food away. Not to mention 20$ for the small portion of noodles that didn't taste was not normal. We couldn't even get a refund on the delivery service (not the restaurants fault) but we will never go here again. Extremely expensive for what? Nothing. What did we have for dinner on Father's Day? Go for lunch and get one of the lunch specials. It's a beautiful restaurant, and if you get Jessica as your server, you will be very happy. She's friendly and fun. The general manager is a very nice man as well. I like their pesto sauce, and the sauce that comes on asparagus and mushroom pasta. The fresh hot bread dipped in olive oil is a perfect start. The spring salad is delicious and light but tasty. I do wish they had more desserts that were lemon based. It would be very traditional Italian to do so, but also pasta is heavy, so you almost want your dessert to be refreshing. read more

This place is a little off the beaten path, but very close to all the eateries at Pebble Creek and McDowell. We've been here several times, including the second night it was open. I remember that meal well...I ordered the chicken parm and a nice plate of pasta and marinara sauce arrived, but after searching under the pasta...there was no chicken! Chalk it up to opening week jitters. The waitress and I had a good laugh, and she of course took care of it. And yes, the chicken parm was great, one of my favorites. My wife loves the vodka sauce with pasta and artichoke hearts, and since I'm watching my carbs, I love that you can sub the zucchini noodles on any pasta dish. The ambience is nice for a date night. It was rather empty on a Wednesday night. Service was fine. When you dine in you get some onion breadsticks with olive oil and balsamic to dip our bread into. The bread was soft. I ordered the brussel sprouts appetizer. It was ok. I wish it had more of a char to it and more acid. I would've loved a little reduction of a balsamic glaze. I ordered the garlic shrimp. I saw pictures of it on yelp. It looked really good on someone's post so I decided to order it Unfortunately, my order did not look like what I saw in the picture. The sauce was too thick and rich. I think they overdid it on the sauce. I had a bowl full of more sauce than I expected. The flavors had too much going on. I wanted to taste my shrimp and have more spaghetti. They can improve had they went light on the cream and allowed the shrimp to shine. I saw no traces of garlic, and wished to have had that garlic butter flavor. The ratio was off when it came to the sauce. I wish I didn't have a pool of sauce so I could at least taste the spaghettini. There wasn't a lot of shrimp but they had more mushroom. My husband got the creamy chicken chipotle pasta but it was mediocre. He felt it was a little bland. He found a chicken bone shard that poked his mouth. We spoke the waitress about it and she apologized All in all. I don't think I will come back when it comes to the food. Although the place is nicely decorated the food wasn't to my liking. I have been disappointed in the goodyear location. The red sauces always has ZERO flavor and its very watered down. I decided to try the chopped chicken salad. It was the driest chicken I have ever had. I was gagging trying to get it down. I asked for more dressing, but it didn't help. Why not serve that salad with a nice fresh piece of cooked chicken? Hmmmm .... okay so first off our table was way to close to the front door it was uncomfortable. Felt like we were at an after thought table. The waiter approached our table talking to us while mid walk. We asked are you talking to us ... he asked what we wanted to drink. No, welcome in / no welcome at all just "what can I get you to drink" while chewing gum. We pointed out that we didn't know he was talking to us and he just looked at us like we were nuts. He had long and I mean long painted black nails ... and chewed that huge the entire time he handled our table. Never asked how food was, whenever he was in the area of our table we asked for refills, had to mention one of the meal we got was wrong and had to flag him down again for refills and to go boxes. The only time he gave us two sentences was when he handed us the bill. Never saw a manager or anyone that looked like they were in charge. As I mentioned earlier my friend received the wrong meal and it took forever to get it replaced. It was a calzone...shouldn't have taken that long. We all finished our meals before hers came and it was room temperature. My husband ordered a spicy fettuccine and he loved it. Everyone liked their food (other than my friend) I love that there is gluten free, zucchini and wheat pasta options. I don't know if we would go back. It felt like kids were running the show. Service was bad but food was good. Service to me is everything and for a new restaurant .. this was a bad impression for a first visit. This was my second time visiting Babbo. My first experience with the food was not the best. I had visited a different location and ordered the drunken shrimp pasta (seasonal dish) but I didn't enjoy it at all. I decided to give them a second chance and it was definitely a better experience. We waited about 30 minutes for a seat at a table for two, which was actually a booth for four. I ordered a garlicky sun dried tomato pasta and a drink. The flavors were mild and delicate. It really depends on taste. The sauce was cooked a particular way so that it couldn't thicken very much, and it sunk to the bottom of the plate, which is actually pretty traditional, if you think of all the times that someone mentioned the Italians dunk their bread in the sauce from their meal. This place is a bit on the pricey side and ran about $40 for a meal and alcoholic beverage. They had a lot of vegan and vegetarian options, however my boyfriend wanted the spaghetti and there was no meatless option for this. read more

My husband and I were in town to look at homes at the golf course close by. Our friend took us to lunch here. As we stepped inside there were about 2 tables occupied and we waited by the "Wait to be Seated" sign. After about 5 minutes one of us went by the kitchen and bar area to ask someone ..should we just seat ourselves with no one really helping. Then a mgr appeared from the back looking highly annoyed to say she had only been gone a couple seconds. No apology just a rude face and seating us as if we'd done something terribly wrong. It was very uncomfortable. She came back to see if we wanted drinks but her demeanor was still less than welcoming. Just to say we would have absolutely understood if she had said " I apologize I stepped away to do something". Not a big deal. We ordered our food. 2 salads and one meatball sub. We are Italian so we know the meatballs won't be as good as my husband's but are always hopeful they are close. LOL My salad was very brown on the sides not much dressing or flavor and wasn't the best I've had. I believe it was $17. The meatballs were not good at all nor was the sauce. The focaccia they serve at the start was very doughy and not truly enjoyable either. Our Arnold Palmers were very watered down with no flavor. I asked for a Coke to substitute. It was not great either. Not calibrated correctly and flat. We decided to move to the golf community, but will definitely not be back to this " Italian" eatery. read more

Pretty sad that this new location is so low rated. I understand everyone's experiences differ, so I'll share mine...which was nothing but positive! This is our third location we've tried and it happens to be the one closest to my house. We dined on a Sunday evening around 6 and only had to wait about 15 mins for a table. Honestly it wasn't busy at all, which while a bit sad, we loved because it was nice and quiet for our party of 7 to converse and not have to yell at each other (haha). I usually get the same dish here (Brussels and pancetta!) but they had a new menu item that caught my eye. Pete's pink fettuccine. I love a good 'rose' pasta sauce so I had to try it. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it was very good and I would order it again. The cook burned my son's pizza and came out to apologize and quickly remade a new one. We really appreciated the attention to detail. And how about that FOCACCIA. We all agree it's heaven sent so delicious and they happily brought out more when we asked. Well this is review #2. Last one I complained about the long waiting time to be seated. Well it was busy again today so we sat at the bar (can't fool me twice). So my wife, 90 year old mom and I sat at the bar because there was no way we were gonna wait. We sit at the bar and we get a salty barmaid that sends us our drinks. See photo below. Question: why is my drink not full? Answer from barmaid: I guess I didn't put enough mixer in it. Ok well we've all had plenty of drinks in the world and we know what to expect in a mixed drink. Tasty, full, nice presentation....because I can make the same drink at home for $2. When it's not full when you pour it in the glass, figure it out and make it right. Not only did the server put his hands in my pasta he also had the courage to stand there and curse as if that made anything better. He was fired the first time why was he hired a second time????
