My partner suggested this as a place to check out after seeing it on Kelly Drive with Bob Kelly. There were not many patrons when we arrived. One of us ordered the Sandwich and Tender with Crinkle Cut Fries and Macaroni and Cheese. The other ordered the Original Sandwich and Tender with Nashville Crinkle Cut Fries and Cole Slaw. The food took a bit of time to come out because it was made to order. It was hot when it came out. The flavor was delicious. The mild sauce was not too hot. The fries were very good - crispy with good flavor from the Nashville seasoning. The only issue with the Nashville seasoning was that it had more sugar than expected. The interior is rather basic with some high top seats and a counter near the front and a few regular tables along the side of the restaurant. We enjoyed the service. I got the four chicken tenders (hot) but they weren't that spicy at all. They were delicious though. Tender chicken and a crispy crunchy light breading that is outstanding. I ordered hot honey sauce on the side and it was ridiculously good. The crinkle cut fries were ok and they came with a garlicky dipping sauce that was good too! I ate in my car and ordered ahead so I can't speak on ambience or atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for really good chicken tenders. Holee Hot Chicken was this good. I got the grilled chicken sandwich (hot) with just lettuce and a side of coleslaw and Memphis Bbq sauce as I wanted to combine it in to my own creation. First, I like spice but am on the "I don't claim to be able to handle to heat" so the Hot was right for me enough heat to make me question my choices but not enough to not love it. The grilled chicken was also cooked perfectly: juicy, tender and plentiful. Coleslaw was beyond. Absolute perfection if you love a creamy coleslaw and I do. I was in the area and was hungry for HOT chicken! I ordered one of Baba's plates - sandwich + tender and 2 sides. After ordering my food, I then realized they had beer on tap!! I guess that's what "and brews" meant. There was some trepidation on my part since I'm not one to put pickles or slaw on my sandwich. The hot original was a lil' messy - but I loved it - all of it. I got collard greens and the potato salad for my sides and they both provided just the right contrast. The single tender was perfectly cooked and yummy. They brought my food to me at one of the outside tables - smooth. For beers, I tried the ale and the lager - both were very good. This place surprised me. 1) Most hot chicken places don't deliver on the "hot." I ordered the trio plate and the wingding/tender were not that hot. It seems like they didn't apply it well enough, because the chicken sandwich had my mouth on FIRE. One of the hottest food experiences, and I like hot food. I probably will get the Insanity and not their hottest (Permanent Insanity) though, next time. It was intense, lol. 2) Most hot chicken places only serve fries, and a salad if you're lucky. The potato salad and greens were very tasty. I wasn't expecting much from the potato salad because it's light, and I like mustard in mine. But it had everything else. And tbe greens were surprisingly good. Plenty salt going on, I'm sure, so I couldn't eat this everything day. But I'll definitely be back for that heat. Glad they are in the area. I forgot: I did had the banana pudding, and wasn't a big fan. Tasted artificial: needed real banana and maybe some cream cheese, or just cream for that matter. I've been there twice the the last 3 days and had 2 completely different experiences. If i could rate a 3.5 stars I would so I'm going with a 3. Thursday 1/29/24 ordered lunch for work: Southern Bbq chicken (permanent insanity heat): *VERY SPICY!!* I have to give kudos to whoever made this hot.. it's actually spicy and packs a hell of a punch! Enjoyed the spice level. However, if you're going to call this a barbecue sandwich, it needs more barbecue sauce than just the quarter size dollop in the middle.. tasted zero bbq Chicken tender- very good. Fries: right amount of crispness. Mac & Cheese: very similar to Wawa's. Just ok. Peach cobbler: I enjoyed this. My coworkers tried the custard and banana pudding: both enjoyed their desserts. Fast forward to today 2/1/24 ordered dinner for the family: Collard Greens: Good seasoning. Enjoyable Macaroni salad: I have no idea what kind of macaroni salad this was but it's was more like a pasta salad- with cheese and tomatoes . Didn't have much creaminess and was very dry. Not a fan of this. Coleslaw: loved it on the sandwich, didn't like it by itself. Fries: this time were soggy. Disappointing Chicken wings: LET'S TALK ABOUT THESE WINGS. This was my first experience of the "no heat" option for spice. I didn't realize that this also meant ZERO flavor. The coating just tasted like crispy fried flour. My mom and husband both tried the wings and nobody liked them- there was just something off putting. The skin underneath was thick and gummy which was causing the coating to fall off. Even tried putting them in the air fryer and it didn't help. We threw these outside for the animals to eat. Very disappointed as we paid $20 for 4 wings and 2 sides and didn't like any of them. Final thoughts: I enjoyed the chicken sandwich's and tenders. Fries are a hit of miss. Not a huge fan of any of the sides I've tried. Give their sandwich's and tenders a shot!! I can't think of one bad thing to say about Babas. We came here because it was literally 50 feet from our Hotel and had good reviews. I ordered the original sandwich hot, we got the babas fries (sauce and chicken) and the kids got the mac n cheese. My wife and I also tried their draft beer. The beers I guess were a little small, but they were tasty. This is a go to the counter and order place. But the food was absolutely outstanding. If you like spicy you could probably go up to insanity, hot was hot for sure but I think I could've done more heat. The couple people working were as nice as can be and everything came out quickly. The amount of food for the kids meal gave us plenty of leftovers, a great value. The sauce is not like a buffalo type sauce but more a creamier based sauce. I loved it. The chicken was good to perfection, not dry, just done very well. I guess they have a couple locations. If we are back in the Collegeville area I would definitely eat here again. Okay so I loved my first visit, but didn't try everything I wanted at that time because this place offers so many incredible options! Now that I've returned and have tried everything that I wanted, I have to confess that this place has such a homestyle feel to the food with very tasty flavors. The cornbread reminded me of my great-grandmother's, and the collard greens were so good with the bacon (maybe turkey bacon?). The milkshake was so thick yet creamy, the mac and cheese almost tasted like my own, and the Nashville fries were seasoned to perfection. So now the chicken. I will support this restaurant forever because they offer choices and the food is awesome! I like a bit of heat but not HOT, and they ask you what level of heat you want, so I said mild and the chicken did not disappoint. The flavor combination of the Baba's sauce and the chicken tenders fit like hand in glove! Excellent place to visit as the staff are always welcoming and accommodating. In comparison to other local chicken joints, there are more options for type of sandwich flavor combo as well as wing, wrap, and tender options. The portion of chicken was substantial as well. My more spice inclined friend did note though, if you want your actual spice level order 1 higher than you expect. The plain fries were crispy, would definitely opt for getting them seasoned or topped with cheese or sauce. The Mac and cheese was your regular tasting stovetop Mac, nothing to phone home about but satisfying enough. The service was prompt and the restaurant was very clean. Quite possibly the best hot chicken sandwich period. It's not heavily breaded nor is it greasy but it's got a great crunch and the chicken is very moist and tender. Now the hot sauce....it's hot for sure but it's also full of taste. You don't feel heavy or regret eating the food. You feel like you got great food at a good price with no guilt. We were anxious to try Babas, as it's not far from our house, and we love good chicken! My husband decided to try a few different things, so we could get a good idea of how some items were. He got 2 chicken sandwiches, 4 tenders, 2 wings and an order of fries. We got the chicken mild flavored. The sandwich was good, but not great. The chicken was moist, but lacked a flavor and we did not like the sauce on it. It was somewhat crispy, but the batter tasted more like flour then anything else. The tenders were again, moist, but not very crispy. We agreed they were good, but Popeye's and Chick Fil A tenders are better. The wings were average. At $4 a piece, there was not much meat on them, and they were not as big as we thought a $4 wing would be. The fries are crinkle cut, which I do not prefer, but they were actually good and crisp. Overall, we agreed that with Popeye's and Chick Fil within a mile from Babas, we definitely like Popeye's Fried Chicken the best, as it is always very crispy, not dry and not greasy. Chick Fil A is always good too. It cost us almost $45 for our order, which is high for what we got. We were hoping to really love this place, but we did not. Maybe the hot varieties are better, but the mild lacked a lot. read more
