    Pachos with chicken tikka
    Karishma P.

I was quite excited to try out Baba G's as I had missed out on trying their food at Shoreditch. We opted for their pachos- an indianised fusion version of nachos with popadoms and Indian sauces - raita, mango sauce and chilli pickle. Now in my head, these elements seemed a bit disparate, but they came together really well with a topping of chicken tikka. There were more items in the menu that I would have loved to try like the chicken tikka nuggest, but sadly they had already run out. I'd love to go back and try some more.

Baba G's is something different. I know personally I have never had an Indian inspired burger and I must say it was pretty damn good. This place was recommended to me by another Yelper who was in London the week before me so I knew I had to try. This place is located in a smorgasbord type of area so you might miss it if you are trying to follow Google maps which brought us around the back into a parking lot. Now I must warn you, if you do not like spicy food you may not like Baba G's. I ordered the Crazy Lamb Jalfrezi Burger which was super delicious but super spicy. The lamb and the spices go great together. The fries had a mango sauce and yogurt sauce that was unmatched to any other fry sauce that I have tried. I respect the menu, I think it's a great idea to mix Indian cuisine with the best of American cuisine. If you are in the area or can get here which is easy via the train you will not be disappointed!

I'm not sure on that, it's just something I thought we caught on to before we left and there started to be RESERVED tents going on the tables. We went and had Scotch Egg, Calamari, Arancini, fish & chips and STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING. Oh. My. Goodness! First the Scotch Egg. I don't want to be a Debbie Downer but it was....ok. It was a little plain. A little tasteless. They could have thrown a few spices into the meat, just a little something. To say that we've made better at home wouldn't be far out. But still good. The calamari was cooked just right. It's what you expect out of a calamari appetizer. Was it the best you'll ever have? Not really. Worth the price? Add it to your appetizer list! The rice balls, which is arancini is, were good. Add a little salt to the top and they were, also, as you'd expect. The fish & chips were exactly as we were hoping when visiting an English Pub for fish & chips. The fish was perfectly cooked, the coating was fabulous, and of course the chips were a perfect compliment to the fish. A great fish & chips experience. The star of the show was the Sticky Toffee Pudding. What a treat! Granted I've nothing to compare it to, this was my first time having it, but whether I've had it before or not THIS was perfection. Perfect texture, the flavour was amazing, the caramel drizzle was perfectly proportioned, and the little bit of ice cream on the side was just perfect. I would go back here simply on this dessert alone. As for the drinks, because, you know, it's a pub....I couldn't say. I don't drink alcohol but my Diet Coke was great! Fresh bottle! ....I suppose I could have gotten a non-alcoholic beer. Wait....did they have non-alcoholic beer there? SOMEONE FIND OUT IF THEY HAVE NON-ALCOHOLIC BEER THERE. The atmosphere was great. I can see how it would be perfect in the evening and on into the night. Very welcoming with a great looking bar.

The cafe is super cute in Covent Garden. We were seated quickly at a small table and given a complementary cup of fresh popcorn. Jessi Juan, our server, was attentive and friendly. We ordered a glass of wine and a beer. The menu is fairly simple, steaks and sides. Other steak and wine specials are listed on a board. Steaks start at £15 and sides are £4-5. Food comes out super quick. My husband and I had Flat Iron steaks and shared sides of Roasted Aubergine, Tomatoes and Mozzarella and Bone Marrow Mash. I also ordered the Bearnaise sauce to compliment my steak. Everything tasted excellent. My husband LOVED the Bone Marrow Mash potatoes with fried onion bits. I loved the aubergine. You receive a token for a complementary ice cream cone, which you pick up when you leave. The ice cream is topped with chocolate powder. The free cone is delicious and a nice touch. I'd return, heck, I'd even stand in line.

Usually, places have minimum orders, especially for delivery, but I didn't see one. I did want some spuds and a lemonade with it, but the sequence of screens didn't allow for changing the order. I'd have to start all over again. After getting frustrated with that, I decided to just go ahead and try finishing the order with ONLY the burger. I expected it to not let me. But it did. HOWEVER, once it was delivered, joke was on me. See pic. That's one of the smallest, plainest burgers I've ever had. Dollar bill is for size comparison. Note there's no lettuce, no onlons, no mayo. Just some melted cheese, a puny burger and plain buns. That's it. And no second burger, either. For $15 plus a driver tip!?!?!? I called them, but the guy on the phone kept giving me the runaround, telling me to call UberEats, even though I emphasized it was their offer, their sent 'order', and I was paying them. Of course, on the UberEats website there's no real way to even contact them. They had a brand new customer. One that was ready to like 'em and do more busines. Not now. Quite the opposite. I wanted to write a colorful culinary review of this burger joint but I didn't want to put readers to sleep before I officially recommend Dirty Burger. If you are in London near Embankment or Vauxhall or Lambeth or at the MI6 headquarters, get your arse down to Dirty Burger and bite into the meaty cheesy greatness and enjoy the glorious french fries (frites) and the surprisingly savory donuts. DB is also hangover worthy as they stay open pretty late. As for the burgers, Dirty Burger encases the patties in exact proportion to the bun such that the bun is not violating the meat and toppings it's holding. I never appreciate things like that until I get a bun that dwarfs the meat. I don't know if they use local grass-fed cows, Angus, moose, Spanish Toros or whatever and I don't live in London so I really didn't care. But where ever the beef originated, god bless that place! Don't forget to top your burger! Onions are a must, cheese is a must and bacon is a must. You can't be calorie counting at DB. Attack those calories! Show 'em you ain't scared! The place is small but it serves the purpose. Decent background music and clean facility. Don't remember a toilet being there. Prices are great. A good meal for less than £9. Staff is efficient and courteous. 5***** no doubt!
