Be prepared to communicate with BAB Realty ONLY IN CAPS LOCK via hotmail or in typo-laden letters that appear to have been written on a typewriter.
BAB Realty took over managing my townhouse near the end of my lease. They immediately informed me that if I wished to renew, my rent would be $200 more per month than it was when I first moved in three years ago.
When I decided to not renew my lease due to this steep increase I immediately contacted Tom Babineck to request a cursory walk-through to alert me of stuff I should fix or replace before moving out. He was reluctant to do so, and when he finally gave in he was unhelpful to say the least. He couldn't tell me anything I needed to fix, offering that he "just didn't know."
I made multiple maintenance requests to Mr. Babineck, one that the screen door needed to be repaired/replaced. He refused to do anything, stating in an email that the maintenance guy was "very busy." After move-out he charged me for replacing the screen door, both for its materials and labor.
Additionally, he charged me for carpet cleaning even after I'd just used the carpet cleaning service the property owner had recommended the day I moved out. He blamed the worn carpet on keeping bicycles indoors. Sorry, but anyone who lives in Montrose knows you can't leave a bike locked outside. Also, super cheap white carpet in hallways and bathrooms-- yes, carpet in the bathrooms-- should be replaced every five years, in my opinion.
I gave BAB Realty two stars instead of one because Mr. Babineck seems like a nice guy and may have just been following orders from the property owner, Louise Perlitz. Still, I would not recommend this company as communication is poor at best. read more
