tasty place for thai food and good portion sizes! loved the thai tea as well

Great price, great portions, great location! My boyfriend and I were visiting Victoria and this place was on a restaurant recommendation list our Airbnb host left for us. We ate here on a Friday night, no wait! We were greeted immediately. Staff was very friendly and efficient. The food was wonderful. We got our food mild and it was delicious. We will definitely come back the next time we visit.

This is probably Top 2 Thai restaurant from my point of view! The taste is good and the servers are very friendly. The atmosphere is good as well. And one thing I want to highlight is that the price is lower comparing to other Thai restaurant! No.19 and No. 26 are my favorite!

Tasty Thai food with great service and a nice environment! Good place to dine-in for your traditional phad thai or a stir-fry style dish if you're feeling like something healthier. Great price point as well, especially when you go during their lunch-time special hours! Food always comes out fast, hot, and fresh. Can't ask for any more! (well actually, I would gladly ask for more hehe!)

    Awesome Thai iced tea!!

"A Comedy of Errors" Thai Lemongrass, for the…read morepast several years, used to be one of our favourite restaurants where we had often enjoyed lovely meals, but when we went there recently, it was immediately obvious that it had changed hands. The waiter was totally unknowledgeable about the menu, and his service was slow and hesitant. We were served cold tea and when we asked for hot tea we're told that they had forgotten to plug in the water heater. After a second serving of cold tea, third time lucky, and the waiter brought us tea that was hot! We proceeded to order our meal, and when we asked for mild curry, we were told it would cost extra because the cook would have to add more coconut milk. When we expressed our amazement, the waiter said he would check. He came back with the manager/owner, who said no, a mild curry would not cost extra! Every course of the food, when it eventually arrived, was cold or luke-warm and the meat (lamb) that I chose for my curry dish was gristly, fatty and tough. When our main courses arrived, one was missing. The waiter, who had started to walk away, seemed surprised when we asked where our son's meal was. He couldn't remember what we ordered, so we told him and he said he'd check with the kitchen. My husband and I proceeded to share our almost cold meals with our son and waited for the his meal to arrive. It was very cold in the restaurant, so we kept our coats on during our meal. When we asked if the heat could be turned up in the restaurant, waiter brought a small space heater which could not be plugged in near us because the waiter couldn't find an outlet to plug it into! Consequently, he plugged it in on the other side of the room. My husband finished eating and excused himself to go out into our car to start it and turn on the heater so he could warm up. Our son's meal arrived at last and we asked for it to be packed up to take home. When it was time to pay for our meal, I mentioned to the waiter that I didn't think we should pay for the lamb curry that I had ordered because we couldn't eat the meat, and only ate some of the undercooked hard potato. I pointed out the majority of my mail that was left in my bowl. The waiter said he would have to ask about this and went and got the manager owner again who said to me that I couldn't expect to eat for nothing, but he would deduct 10% off my meal. He was adamant about this until my 6' 2" son stood up from the table when he immediately agreed with me that I should not have to pay for this inedible meal. Despite all this, the meal still cost us $80+. Another family had arrived and sat at adjacent table to us. They kept their coats on too, and decided to order their meal to take away so that they could eat it at home rather than sit in a cold restaurant. Much needs to be done by the new owner of this restaurant to train his staff and to improve his own attitude towards his customers. Needless to say, we will not be going back to Thai Lemongrass!

Note: those with kids will find there is no kid's menu, so be prepared to share or bring some home :) === 2. FOOD Thai Iced Tea ($4.50) Served in a tall, slim glass - lovely! Som Tum Thai (Green Papaya Salad, $16) A little on the small side for the price, but the flavours and mix of crunchy textures delight! Ruam Mit ($20 for 2 people) 2 x chicken satay skewers, 2 x spring rolls, and 2 x fish cake patties: the taste makes it worth the price of admission! Egg Fried Rice ($12.95 for large) So the portion is small for the price, but the flavour is delish and comes with that authentic taste that could only originate from a wok that had the right heat and cooking technique! Gang Dang (red curry, $19.50 with beef) This red curry has bamboo shoots and peppers, as well as your choice of prawns, chicken, pork, beef, or tofu. It comes in a small bowl and does not include rice so this may be the worst value on the menu, but the flavour is spot on. Pla Lad Prik (deep-fried fish, $25 for red snapper) You could do base fish for $1 less. The price is steep for what you get, but you will enjoy each mouthful. We got the sauce on the side which was good for us (your preference may differ) - it's sweet-and-sour like with chopped veggies. Nam Sai (like pho, $18.50 with pork) It's like a Thai version of Vietnamese pho! Comes with your choice of beef or pork. Nice and flavourful without being too strong or making you feel thirsty afterward. This might be the only item on the menu that aligns with the value/portion size! === 3. SERVICE It was good overall: reservation was taken easily and honoured, server was quite attentive and apologetic when she brought the incorrect dish and when the table seemed dirtier than expected upon arrival. No worries here! === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's a neighbourhood joint that shares the building with a framing company. Older on the outside and inside - to get up and into the place may be a challenge with those navigating a wheelchair or baby stroller. There are a decent number of tables for groups up to say, 10 or so amid the older, perhaps intimate decor. Parking is however lucky you are between the businesses; at least 5 spots appear to be available on the side of the building.

We are big fans of traditional fare, but the Block is a place we are so glad we experienced and will certainly return utilizing the knowledge we garnered during our first experience. A big thank you to for helping us through picking one price fixe January exploration of your local restaurants and filling it with other ala carte additions. As we often do we ordered far too much food, wanting to explore everything off a menu that is far reaching. Not sure if our additions worked with the price fixe menu, but we sure enjoyed checking everything out. The interior is interesting with the addition of structural steel in the space to keep this heritage building (I think) standing tall for a few generations. We sure hope it's still here for a long while and will most likely come again the next time we are in Victoria. That is saying a lot as there are a wide range of restaurants in the neighbourhood, but you do want to check the Block out!
