During our busiest times, we reached out to them for our warehouse labor. They sent us several placements, some did not show up and some were not qualified. Out of the 6 or 7 they sent us, we were able to use one. He has been great but when it came time to convert him to permanent, they really showed they do not care about finding permanent jobs for their staff nor do they care about their customers. We tried to have the employee converted to permanent with just a few more hours left but they would not waive their conversion fee even when we told them we would not use them moving forward if they would not convert. Brittany Calderon was our rep and she was a bit stand offish and not friendly at all in the midst of these discussions, while our main rep never Trish Cereda never got back to us, a couple of weeks later they told us she was no longer with the company. Brittany copied her VP Teresa Cardenas in the email and she also did not step in to try to make our experience a little better or try and retain our business. There are so many staffing agencies out there to use and we chose to give Staffmark a try and unfortunately because of this poor experience, we will not be using them in the future. Thinking of the business relationship and bigger picture would have been ideal here but to make a $700 conversion fee seems what was most important to Staffmark. She said that she sent my resume to their client company, a multinational distributor in La Mirada. The following day, Mihyiesha arranged a video interview with the hiring manager, which took place a couple of days later. After the interview, Mihyiesha called to give me the good news, which was the manager decided to bring me on board. :-) I was then sent all the onboarding documents to fill out and return. The following week, I started my assignment. It was a great company and a great job; unfortunately, after 2 weeks, we decided it wasn't working out, so we terminated the assignment. :-( But Mihyiesha came through for me with another assignment, this time with a nutraceuticals manufacturer in Santa Fe Springs. I completed the video interview yesterday and I was informed they want me to start on Monday, 9/13. It pays more than the last assignment and hopefully, this job will be a better fit. I found that Michelle had the TOP RATED AGENCY ON MULTIPLE SITES and wanted to take a closer look. I read through every. single. review. I thought to myself, "Really? Every single person had a positive experience with this agency? That's just not statistically possible if she's really working with this many people..." I decided to set up a meeting. I drove to her office where we met to discuss particulars (what I'm looking for, what families are in the market for a nanny right now, what ages/salary/commute/hours I'm looking for) and the moment she opened the door and greeted me with a giant smile and her upbeat, positive attitude, I felt like just working with HER was my perfect placement! Once we started the process, Michelle was completely professional while also refreshingly honest and realistic in her suggestions. She really took the time to get to know me and what I was looking for and she only suggested me to families that she knew had the potential to be a "love match!" Upon my arrival, I was given a small stack of paperwork I needed to date and sign relating to the client company where I was to be assigned. Once that was completed, they had me go to a vacant computer to fill out more forms, this time pertaining to my personal information. When the electronic forms were all done, I had to take a typing test. The computer I used to take the typing test was S L O W and could not keep up with my typing speed on the keyboard. The website for the typing test also kept generating lots of pop-up ads which slowed me down even further. I took the test a number of times before I got a passing/satisfactory score. Drug testing was also required, so I was given a small plastic container and led to the restroom, where I gave a urine sample. Finally, I watched an introductory/safety video which was required viewing for all new applicants. Before I left, the recruiter said she would contact me on the following Monday (this was on a Friday when I came in) so that I could start work on Tuesday. When Monday came around, I never received a call, so I called them before the end of the day to find out what was going on. I was told by another recruiter (the one I originally dealt with was out of the office) that they were going to have a meeting with the client company to find out how many people were needed (or something to that effect). Needless to say, I was NOT happy! X-( Lastly, I got a call that Friday letting me know I will be working the following Tuesday at the client company, a local non-profit. Overall, this agency did as they promised. However, I took away a star for being given erroneous information. They shouldn't be telling applicants these things unless they were TRUTHFUL! I took away another star because the computer I used to take the typing test was slow and full of pop-ups. Employment agencies can be helpful in a job search, but I truly feel you're better off finding a job on your own.
