Always fighting between 4 and 5 for this place. I like it better than most places in the area but 5 says it surpassed expectations in some way. So I try to switch between 4 and 5 in my reviews because the food is good. Deviled Eggs $16 were very tasty. They came with a slightly spicy hummus that went very nicely on the eggs. Cavazza Pinot Grigio $10 was a nice wine and a nice size pour Parmesan Crusted Halibut $36. Nicely and lightly crusted, the flavor of the fish was not overwhelmed. Herb crusted Walleye $28 was treated the same. Turtle cheesecake $8 was a good size for two and very good. One of the TVs had its sound on, not too loud but sometimes distracting. Server was Stephanie A did fine but was the only person working the tables on a busy Sunday. The bar tender did help some. read more

I ate at B Merri tonight. Had the blackened chicken sandwich. It was ok. The fries were not good. But what was really bad was that we were sitting inside. We chose to sit inside. Some guy, whom I assume was the owner, opened up the sliding garage door type thing to the outside. So we combatted flies during our entire meal. There is a reason people sit inside. Let them do it. If we wanted flies, we would have chosen the nice outdoor eating area. We didn't. That said, my dining companions were all pleased with their food. Except for the flies. read more

This is a nice place with plenty of outdoor seating. The wall of choose-your-own Minnesota draft beer was nice and simple to use. Service was prompt and friendly. It was not very busy, but it was 7 pm on a Monday night in June. The menu has changed from what was shown on Yelp and on the B Merri website - which was disappointing because we were looking forward to the choose your own bruschetta. That's no longer and option. We ordered the beet salad - which was enormous and included almonds and watermelon. We also had the walleye dinner - again it was an enormous serving over wildrice and served with a shrimp gravy. The food was very tasty. The only off note was dessert. We ordered the Fruit Custard which for some reason was served with zero fruit. Not impressed. Not sure how the waitstaff is trained, but the service is disjointed. 3 of us ordered drinks, took 10 minutes to get them. Ordered food, she brought out 2 meals, and the third came about 10 minutes later, and it was the daily special. Ordered 3 more drinks. Soda came in 5 minutes, cocktails 10 more minutes. Maybe I am old school, but you hump drinks to the customer right away, and never bring meals unless they are all ready to go. Not all of this is on the server, the cook needs to time out his meals, it seems, so they are all done and hot at the same time. read more

The two of us rolled in at 1pm on a Friday and the service was spot on. Our lady server was polite and courteous and concerned that we get what we wanted, when we wanted it. I had the sushi side, my buddy had the dumplings side, and we were both pleased with the amount in the food given. The quality of my sushi was delicious and definitely freshly made, with detail given to the beauty of the presentation and the extras such as soy, wasabi and ginger (and the ginger was VERY fresh, and the wasabi was not something squeezed from a bottle, it was homemade and delicious) My buddy's dumpling's were clearly just made, with detail given to creation and wonderful seasoning. I could smell it all the way across the table and the smell made me jealous and wishing I had ordered them. (and knowing that I would, next time around) We sat outside and I will mention that this is bee season. Bee forewarned. (yes, a very bad pun, lol) We ended up making friends with the table of four sitting next to us who were wonderful people, and the bees kept crawling into Bruce's beer and swimming around. We all found it funny, but then it would crawl up on the rim and fall off on the table and crawl drunkenly around...but honestly, the bee's were very annoying and very possibly dangerous to someone that is allergic to them. As mentioned, do be forewarned and bring your leg-jabber if you are allergic. We didn't have fancy drinks, just sodas, but she gladly brought us refills when ours got low, even though she was a very busy server. She had excellent serving skills and I knew 5 minutes into my interaction with her that I would be tipping her well, simply because I respected her personality and manners. And that she wasn't rude and didn't hate her job or us. She treated us with respect and in turn, we left her a hefty tip to show ours. read more

What an upgrade! B Merri had become one of our favorite date spots in the area. The menu is creative and we've enjoyed pretty much everything we've had. They've been super accommodating to our son's but allergies and their kids menu is great. We'd also recommend checking them out on their drive in movie nights! They do get late in the summer as the sun stays up so long, but we all had a great time. I wouldn't order food to be delivered to your car from the restaurant (it was a bit clunky) but they have a great movie snack selection and popcorn! read more

I'm giving this place a four star rating, not because of the service but the food was tremendous. When I first arrived I sat at the bar and the bartender said she'd be right back. When she got back nearly 10 minutes later she waited on two people who already had drinks and started pulling dishes out of the dishwasher before she even asked me for my order. Luckily there was a bartender change and the next one was really good. I ordered the firecracker shrimp and it was terrific but for $11 you get six shrimp that are medium size. And then another incident that was not her fault I was watching the University of Minnesota football game and someone change the channel on the only TV that was playing that and it took another 10 minutes for them to switch it back.I'm guessing this is not regular service but for the first time going there it was a bit annoying. read more

We heard this place had been redone and brought a large family group in for dinner. The staff had kindly arranged the tables in a large wide rectangles so it wasn't just a long strip of tables and we could have more group conversation. We took them up on the invitation to trust them with fresh seafood. The appetizers were all great- don't miss the Bruschetta Board! A bit of a misnomer as it's more like a charcuterie board of bruschetta toppings, but each is delicious! Order the extra toast; you won't want to miss one flavor. The roasted garlic head is exceptional. The poke nachos are a little ambitious for this place, they don't quite nail it as they are over sweet and under spicy. Firecracker shrimp are better. Miss the Ciopinno; it's more of a bland tomato bisque with a lot of nice seafood, but missing the intense seasonings I would have expected. The salmon was excellent. Lobster pasta was fantastic. Chicken and burger were both very tasty. Delish fries. A little echoey inside and the outdoor patio is gorgeous so try to sit outside if the weather is nice. The perky waitstaff deserved a great tip. read more

We celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary at B Merri. We could have gone to any other area restaurant, but based on our prior experiences with the great food and service we went here. The food and service exceeded our expectations. Our server, Abby, did a great job of taking care of us, helping to make the evening memorable. The good - plenty of waitstaff, decent and varied amount of items on the menu, beautiful inside, walleye po boy. The bad - kitchen was short staffed so they only served the lunch menu. Seems to be a common theme post-pandemic with difficulty hiring staff. The owner was actually eating around the rush time and got the tacos (he ordered after us and we were told they were out of tacos ). Service was incredibly slow. The majority of tables that sat down and ordered after us got their food before us. It just seemed disorganized. The hamburger was way over cooked and tough, the pastrami sandwich was dry and fairly tasteless. We did have the walleye sandwich and it was amazing however. The ugly - EVERYTHING was an up charge (even the things we never got like cheese on the burger) . Prices on the menu are not accurate. $1.00 extra for ranch on the already up charged $3.00 side salad. Drinks were charged as two different charges making it look like an up charge as well (I never asked for the drink menu back to see what the advertised price was but the receipt had a charge for the drink and a charge for the alcohol in the drink which was named on the menu, not top shelf). I've eaten at this place in its various iterations over the years (chaparral, the chap, the woods and now B Merri) and it's very hit or miss. Tonight was a big miss unfortunately. First of all, the food is awesome, the DIY craft beer center is a super cool thing this far away from the cities, but this review is really about the service. Katie has that perfect balance of playful snarky with an actual want to help people figure out what they want to eat and drink. Katie is service with a smile! She makes an amazing cocktail "Katie's special cocktail" which is her take on a pineapple upside down cake (it actually tastes like a pineapple upside down cake.). I ordered take-out for my mom's bday. It was stellar!!! So delicious! Perfectly prepared!! Nothing over or undercooked!! We shared the smoked pork ribs with a Dijon bbq sauce and the outstanding chicken and sausage penne. OMG!!! The ribs were a delightful combo of taste from the smoke and just enough sauce (which was so tasty!!!) without being drenched! These two dishes paired so well together, too!! For both dishes there was a slight sweetness with the Smokey taste which was like a party in my mouth! Even the veggies were perfection! The carrot were fresh and cut large; crunchy, yet still cooked, just like the green beans, too! And just enough sauce to have a lovely flavor, but not too much to hide the taste of the veggies. Amazing! I've always liked this restaurant, but they have really stepped up their game! Hands down the Best food around! I would give more stars if I could!! I also got the "ugly" cheesecake (since it was a bday meal). It was smooth and fluffy cheesecake. Very nice ending to a wonderful meal! read more
