I visited two days in a row for breakfast, solely because it has the best views and was incredibly quiet both times. I was questioning why it was a ghost town on a these beautiful summer mornings. The service is very mid. I ordered a Bloody Mary and pancakes, and the pancakes came out first. The service was overall really clunky and made it seem like maybe it was their first time serving. The second day I came back expecting to be able to order off the menu again, but I guess on Sundays they do a breakfast buffet only. Everything was ok -- filled the void -- but nothing to write home about. I still love the deck area they have, but must note it's a little odd, they have these huge tables with comfortable seating but the seating for smaller parties is a metal chair. An odd contrast, but since the place was empty we sat at a big table both times. A little awkward for a table of 2. Prices are reasonable, but service and food is mid. read more

For being one of the only spots in this area, you can't necessarily go wrong. We stayed at the hotel which had an interesting crowd but great, updated rooms. The place is nice for the area it's in with a dock across the street with my boat club rentals. If you're going to stay at Eddys, do yourself a favor and pack some snacks and maybe even some meals to hold you over during the day so you only have to eat once at night. This place closes food orders at 8pm sharp so don't make the mistake of waiting a second later. Also, if you're gonna purchase mixed drinks, a) don't b) pack some booze in a water bottle to add to the lack of flavor. Also, avoid the margaritas. Otherwise, you can't expect much and it was a nice relaxing weekend with A LOT of fried food & very few options. read more

We stumbled across this cute new place on our way north on Labor Day. It was clean and cute inside with amazing views of Lake Millelacs. The menu was unexpectedly gourmet. My husband ordered a burger, which he proclaimed was the burger he's "been dreaming of for 6 months". With a heavily seeded, perfectly toasted bun and a patty that was fresh, cooked perfectly and was juicy enough to stand on its own! I got beer cheese soup that was delightful and a crostini and bourbon bacon jam that was really amazing. Hard to top the views, but we loved this surprise of a stop! read more

My wife and I visited Eddy's the day before Father's Day. We got there right when they opened, and there were a few families waiting to be seated outside, which has absolutely beautiful views. We were seated almost right away, but that's where the good review stops. The waitress was nice, but incredibly slow for how few people were there. Also, she couldn't tell me what beers were on tap. When I asked what her favorite thing on the menu was, she told us about a salad that was no longer on the menu. Lastly, the food was borderline terrible. I ordered the beer mac and cheese with brisket, and my wife ordered the brisket sandwich. We didn't order fish because we eat fish all the time. The brisket must have been pre-sliced and packaged, because it was extremely dry and had no flavor. Obviously, we should've diversified our orders a bit more, because it ruined both meals. I'm giving this place two stars, only because of the view. read more

I love the place and I hope I can go back. The food was fresh and delicious. The waitress was very nice and pay attention to the needs of my 3 children. The kids ate all the food and that is surprising. The portions are not huge and I like that. The restaurant has amazing views. The place is spotless including the bathrooms and the kitchen. Customer service was excellent! Beds were comfy, pillows good, great view, etc... The people were so nice there, would definitely recommend for all those reasons. The only issue was cleanliness here. I took those pictures when we got there, and it still hadn't been cleaned by the time we left. We also had some bug problems in our room and had to ask for bug spray to spray around our window/door area, since there were spiders, flies, and mosquitos everywhere here. However, I do understand it's a place on a lake, too, and those things will be there. Just didn't want them inside our room. If they could just take care of this one small cleanliness thing, I would have given them 5 stars. read more

Service was okay. We never got refills on our drink which was much needed when we ordered a medium well steak that came out well done. Not good. It's a beautiful spot to be on the water, but the food and service were severely lacking. Got a hamburger for lunch. I could tell right away the it was a preformed frozen patty. I choked down most of it. Never saw the server to check on us until we were pretty well done. No refills offered for soda. We were there for a Saturday lunch and was very slow (it was rainy). My wife and I and most of our immediate family had dinner here tonight. The food was excellent and there was way too much to eat. Fortunately they had take home boxes so we brought enough food for at least one or two additional meals for each of us. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was great, although my wife's meal wasn't right, she quickly agreed to take it back and provide a fresh dish. My husband and I stopped in for dinner around 7pm on a Sunday evening, as we were on our way back to the Twin Cities. We were very happy to see this updated modern restaurant in northern Minnesota. The service was very good (Daniel, our server, was quite friendly). We had the Chicago Pigwhich and the Brisket Sammy... Both were very good though my husband said he would order the brisket on our next visit. We also tried the Launch Poutine, which was a unique take on Poutine and we enjoyed it. We also tried the Beer Cheese Fries which were good but a bit on the bland side. All in all... A good meal and glad to have another food option not far from Garrison. read more

My wife and I showed up at 10:10 pm and were put on a list to eat. At 10:30 after waiting for 20 minutes we were told we were told they were no longer seating. The serving hours were until 11pm... if you're going to stop seating, don't do it to patrons that have been waiting for a seat for 20 minutes. I called to complain and the front desk put me through to a "manager". The phone rang for about 5 minutes before the call disconnected. Absolutely terrible experience. Stopped in to have breakfast at Eddy's after a camping weekend. Right near Kathio State Park, the establishment looks like it was recently renovated and has a hip, modern vibe which is pretty cool being in the boon docks. Food was impressive! I had some of the best biscuits and gravy I've had in a while; slightly spicy with a robust savory flavor, the chunks of sausage were delicious when smothered over warm and flaky biscuits. Also had some pancakes which were good, and a taste of French toast which was served with whipped cream and fresh fruit. I'd come back here! read more

We had to walk out. Sat at the bar today (10am) to get some brunch. It wasn't busy, but the woman behind the bar never even made eye contact with us or said hello or I'll be right with you. We sat there for over 10 minutes while she slowly walked back and forth in front of us, never acknowledging we were even there. I was fairly impressed with the food and drink selection. We didn't have much luck at other local restaurants, so we tried the one in our hotel. And it did a pretty good job! We tried a number of items - the brisket sandwich, the wings, the pork chop and the walleye. All of the entrees were really good. However, the sides left something to be desired - the creamed spinach and garlic potatoes could be made at home. Overall, it was a good experience. The food was actually pretty decent but the menu is dry and there weren't that many options if you're looking for a diverse variety. Also I ordered the burger and asked for no tomato and when my waitress came out to bring the food the burger had tomato and she saw and was like "oh oops just pick it off" I was like lolllll ok queen. The waitresses are very kind and nice and the inside of the building is gorgeous but kinda reminds me of a fire station which is kinda cool. Another thing is that we started outside and it was sooooo windy our table was moving everywhere and we had to go inside and it was FREEZING inside but over all pretty ok. Finally, the music choices were hilarious like it ranged from Christian country music to pop and rock and old Katy Perry songs it was great. So over all this place had good vibes but I wouldn't go past a 3 star rating because it was exceptionally amazing. read more

Oh my God, it just goes to show you that 3.5 stars average can be deceiving. 5 stars reviews abound, they deserve it. The beer cheese soup is obviously homemade and one of the best ever. The deep fried deviled egg appetizer was unbelievable, the only complaint is it left us wanting more. The walleye (Canadian) was a perfect breading. Beer is cold and the Wheatstone is great beer. WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN! Edit: Homemade ice cream. Great service. Go. Addendum: we were back and I had the Achiote chicken sandwich. Incredible spice and flavor, I recommend it. This review is from 5/2015, and I noticed there was a new entry for the hotel and restaurant separate from the launch services across the street: When I realized that Grand Casino on Mille Lacs doesn't serve alcohol in any form, and the restaurants looked like something out of a culinary hell, I noticed a clever little advertisement near the nickel slots that offered good food, craft beer, and ambiance on the lake. Pulling it up on my phone, we headed toward the car to make the 3 mile drive down the highway to check this place out. It used to be solely a launch and guide service, but recently opened a contemporary looking hotel with a restaurant to the side, and it opened a few weeks before at the beginning of May. Walking in, everything is CB2 and West Elm, but it creates a northwoodsy feel without the run of the mill decoration that prevails along Mille Lacs and the Chain of Lakes. The staff were friendly and welcoming upon arriving, and the view toward the lake was amazing. We sat at the bar, as usual. Our server was no nonsense, and took no grief from a couple of catty customers to our left, which was amusing. We had a good time interacting with the staff behind the bar. (The service is much more personal at the bar anywhere you go in my opinion). They have a nice selection of craft beer, and a full bar. I like the choices from the Twin Cities, Surly Hell and Fulton's Libertine. Nice variation! The menu is not too expansive, but I noticed immediately the prices were very reasonable...even more so when I found out they prepare all of their ingredients in-house. That's impressive in this day and age of Sysco and US Foods. We ordered up a couple of pork plates, with a side of beer cheese fries, and the quality of the fare was off the hook. Everything tasted home made, and fresh. the pulled pork sandwich was so juicy and full of flavor. The bread it was served on was whole grain, like it was made on site in a bakery. I am so glad we stopped in here, having watched this place get built over multiple trips to the cabin last year. We normally stop in Garrison for a meal on our way north, and have decided Eddy's is the perfect stop on the way to the cabin going forward. This place re opened a few months back after a rebuild of a longstanding staple pf Mille Lacs lake. Let me tell you this place has your modern urban city look and feel with your north country charm a lake place is. The menu is very unique and delicious with prices being reasonable. Ive tried most of there jams with the bourbon jam being my favorite. They put a twist on the classic beer cheese soup and it's to die for. The decor and theme is designed around the lake and fishing theme of there launches. The staff is always friendly and helpful when in there which impresses me the most being a re opened business that is doing something new from the old building. read more
