I've been twice and have enjoyed both classes. I do several barre classes a week and this one is one of the best in DC. I'll be back.

Every single instructor teaches such incredible classes and has great instructors like I barely look at whose name I'm signing up for. The strength and cardio slay. The class times are perfect. Everyone is friendly and positive and uplifting. They have dry shampoo in the bathrooms. The studio is beautiful like the brick and plants everywhere are so good. It's so clean and they give you a disinfecting wipe (not Clorox like a good wipe) for your props at the end so the props aren't grimy. It smells good because of the lemon candle they use. In general just such a positive space and the vibe is not to hate on your body it's to modify and like be balanced and functional The essential oils is what I will especially highlight because basically at the end of class they waft around these essential oils during breathwork and I am in loveeee with it!!!!! I will say I wish they had more retail that's my one thing

I tried the free class at a few different barre studios around DC and Pure Barre was my favorite,…read moreso much so that I bought a monthly membership on the spot. I was a fitness instructor for many years and I am picky about safety and form. The instructor who taught the intro class, Gabrielle, was excellent at explaining proper form and giving alignment and safety cues. I have since taken classes from several instructors and the quality of the instructors is very good overall. I love how they make hands-on adjustments during class--that is something a lot of instructors/studios seem afraid to do, but it makes a huge difference in helping achieve proper form and alignment to get the most out of the exercise (and do it safely). Some of the other barre classes I took at other studios didn't challenge me, but I have been sore from some of these classes and I definitely feel like it is a great workout. I have to take breaks during the abs a lot which is good, it means I'm being pushed! Shoutout especially to Anna R. and Gabrielle whose classes are super tough and they both give great hands-on adjustments! All of the instructors are very friendly and try to remember your name, which is also very nice! I do wonder about the carpeted floor and how well it can be cleaned--the studio overall is very clean and you have to wear socks for the classes (no bare feet), but I get a little germaphobic thinking about carpet in a fitness studio, especially since they don't use mats for a lot of the stuff on the floor.

What started as a free class ended with a commitment to stay on the journey to wellness…read more I have been attending the pure barre classics sessions for almost two weeks and my instructor, Gabrielle, does a good job at coaching you through the exercises. The staff is friendly, the facility practices cleanliness and I pretty much get into my class and leave to start my work day. I can write a more detailed review after a few weeks as I know most people might want to know if it's worth it-too early to tell. Price: it is a bit costly but I think the decision to choose your health will come with a price worth paying...invest in you! I'll be back with an update!

This has been my go-to workout since moving back to DC. I lived in West Hollywood for over a decade…read moreand started doing Lagree after a terrible knee injury. I was a longtime runner, Barry's Bootcamp, and Cross Fit enthusiast -- all of which destroyed by body and left me injured more than in shape. Lagree Pilates and Solidcore are a full body workout and exactly what I needed. There is zero impact on the joints and each movement is slow and in control. You also majorly get the heartbeat pounding and I find myself a sweaty mess like I did in those other fitness routines. Solidcore's approach isn't always my favorite (the trademark language and constant soundtrack of the instructors). If I had to pick, I prefer Lagree's approach more but hey, I'm just grateful to have this workout in DC.

But as many have said, it has…read moresome really bad policies that come with it that don't have the client in mind AT ALL. so I am going to leave it and hope others consider the same: 1. Expiration policy on classes is VERY short - this means that if you get a VERY EXPENSIVE classpack but say get sick or have to travel, there's zero flexibility to get an extension. Pretty tone deaf given we just went through years of a pandemic. 2. There is NO HUMAN to be found to help with any questions on classes/memberships, you just email some general account and someone with no name sends you boiler plate marketing. 3. VERY EXPENSIVE It all just leaves a very unpleasant taste in your mouth and there are too many other fitness options where you are treated like a human and where you can get a great workout.

Today was Day 5 of the Dancing in the DMV. This institute also shares their lovely space as a daycare/summer camp for the neighborhood children. The institute has been home of some of DC's elite dancers who gone on to train at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. The staff were welcoming and the faculty was very clean. Restrooms fully stocked and smelling fresh because that's so important. There are a set of elevators if someone is unable to take the stairs. Beautiful inside. Nestled right in the park rd area of uptown DC. There's a parking garage located at 3100 14th street, one block up from the institute. Very reasonably priced and takes the worry out of getting a ticket.

I'm somebody who believes that my instructor should be GREAT b/c it shows me, very tangibly and visually, what to strive for. If I'm supposed to mimic you and I am not impressed with your skills, that is not at all good. You can't tell me how to be great, you have to show me. We did some barre work and then put together a short routine. While it was quite chill and all levels are welcome, it wasn't what I was looking for. I'm looking for rigor. I'm looking for someone to point out all my flaws, make me stronger, and improve my form so that I can be a better aerialist. I want great lines, stronger muscles, and to become a better performer. I don't see that at all happening with that ballet class. If you're looking for something easy and chill, then this is probably a fine ballet class. I might be interested in taking the hip hop class or something else, but I'd rather sell off my pass. All that being said, would anyone like to buy my pass from me? Seriously. $40 for 6 classes or best offer.

Let me introduce you to my eXtend-ed Family (and maybe yours too!)…read more I've been coming here for almost two years, and while I originally came when my former beloved Barre3 studio closed in Clarendon, it now truly is a home to me. I dream about my teachers and friends at night, and I wake up in the morning looking forward to my mid-day workout (I most often take the noon classes). If I haven't been to the studio in a day or two (like when I am out of town) I don't quite feel 'right.' Let me tell you about the teachers: Dana is sunshine personified! Her positive energy is contagious, and her wit and word plays make me laugh out loud. She has a way of making everyone feel welcome and has only positive words to carry us through the classes. Her good-natured cheer and self-deprecating charm belies her intelligence and warmth. Elaine is a mistress of form. Her watchful eye ensures we all move safely and effectively, while offering modifications that cater to everyone. Her passion for teaching shines through, and she genuinely cares about helping each student improve. She is encouraging and helpful and always gives you a reliable workout with a good kind of exertion. Kelly, the owner, pours her heart and soul into this studio. Her classes, along with Stephanie's, are no joke - they'll push you to your limits, but you'll leave feeling empowered and accomplished. Kelly is a tough cookie and I think that the studio's success is a testament to her keen eye for detail (the Bath and Body Works hand soaps will always match the season, for example), her sense of style and her welcomed obsession with cleanliness. Kelly also has a ROBUST holiday decor repertoire for EVERY occasion. Alissa is GORGEOUS and you easily feel her warm embrace as soon as you walk into one of her classes. In Alissa's Barre Camp and Bounce classes, your coordination will be tested, but she always helps you feel totally OK about just doing what you can do and will talk you through every move and choreographed series. Emily is ADORABLE. She has a playful, jovial demeanor and her Bounce classes are my favorite since the trampoline is intimidating to me and she really breaks each move down and builds up slowly so you don't feel lame when you are bouncing like a goofball. Kate is literally a RIOT. You almost don't need any ab exercises since you'll be laughing the whole time, even as you are working your glutes or your triceps. She has an irreverence and wit that has led to me changing my family's weekend schedule so I can attend her Sunday classes. Marti and Tonya are both sweetness personified. Marti has a calm, wise, soulful spirit that is soothing, even as you are sweating. Her poise and grace are the perfect antidote to the early morning screech of the alarm. Because of my schedule, I don't get to take as many of Marti's classes, but when I do, I feel treated. Tonya's Southern accent sounds like mother's milk. She does a great job of coordinating the beat drop of a song to the moves and her workouts can be deceptively intense. Tonya's modesty alleviates any anxiety you might have when you have an 'off' day. "Bless her heart!" There are a handful of teachers that I have not had because I only take morning or noon-time classes. There are also teachers who have gone on to other destinies who I miss dearly (looking at you Colleen!) but every Xtend teacher I've had has been welcoming and taught me something. That's saying a lot since I've been in some form of Barre, yoga or The Daily Method for 20ish years!! Xtend is a place where you grow stronger, laugh often, and feel genuinely good about yourself. The sense of community is truly special - you can tell everyone there genuinely cares about each other. Come join us!
