I've been shopping here both personally and for work for almost ten years - it's a great store run by the nicest people. I was so surprised to see the negative review! If you have any kitchen supply needs, please do go and see for yourself that everyone that works there is perfectly nice & professional. We (The PIggery) buy just about all of our paper goods there, and they have a full range of compostable "plastics" which is nice - instead of throwing eveyone's used cups in to the trash we can toss them right in to our Cayuga Compost bins. We've also made equipment purchses through them, and they are currently being our personal saviors by helping us with a nightmare kitchen hood situation. Figured I should respond, because someone at B&W thinks I work for their competition. I did purchase over $15,000 of kitchen equipment from their competition, but not from B&W because apparently $15,000 of purchases is just "harassment" from the customers. After I posted my review - which described my actual experience of being insulted by their staff, the owner contacted me to get my feedback. Yes, contacted me directly. Here is the message he sent me: Hello Trance A., I am a part-owner of B&W Supply Co, a business that you reviewed, and I was hoping to learn more about your experience with us. I love restaurant supply stores, heck I love anything restaurant and food related. I really liked their "used" storeroom. I would love to know the stories behind the equipment in there. The staff were very helpful with locating what we needed, making the receipt for a special return since it was off the shelf instead of in the box. Just in case the pot didn't meet our beer making needs. I didn't see any real savings shopping here but it is still neat to poke around. read more

I am so appreciative have having B&W supply as part of our local community businesses. A great place for food businesses to purchase their supplies and support the local economy as well as a place for individuals t purchase items that are practical or inspirational for your home kitchen. Family run businesses have been the foundation of communities across the country. Will never order from them again! We have been customers for decades and spend $100's/mo. with minimal issues and mediocre customer service until our recent order. We were shorted a case of toilet tissue, which we prepaid for, and after several unreturned phone calls were told that the driver said he delivered it, end of story. After reviewing our surveillance footage it was confirmed that we never received it. Again, several calls later we were told that they would deliver it "when it was convenient for them or we could pick it up". First we are called liars and then told to wait until they got around to it. No apology, no compensation, nothing. Their response to my email was as follows: (All in caps, but Yelp keeps changing them to lower case) "thank you for your input. all of our deliveries are checked here before they are loaded into our van. i cannot imagine a customer accepting a delivery from us and not checking it in to make sure it is correct. i am deeply sorry we have failed to meet your expectations. with that being said; we will make one final delivery to you with one case of toilet tissue at no charge. . i will try and get it to you tomorrow. i think it is better if we go our separate ways and student agencies find another supplier that can better meet your needs. becky benjamin b and w supply." I go here when ever I need any kind of kitchen ware or any random item I think they might possibly have and they usually do have it! Bought perfect containers for all my different kinds of bird food and so much cheaper than similar, but not as nice containers at Bed Bath and Beyond. I found super trays - just the right size to put under my many plants to protect my furniture! Great place to buy paper bags, waxed sandwich bags. - I refuse to shop on-line if I can buy anything from a locally owned business that employs local people and pays taxes in Tompkins County! This place is awesome! Don't be fooled by the exterior--even though this is a restaurant supply company, individuals are welcome to wander in and buy things for their home kitchens. We picked up nice salt and pepper shakers, a syrup dispenser like the kind they have in restaurants, several bottles for olive oil, and some other great stuff. If you like to cook and spend time in your kitchen, I'm sure you'll find something useful here. Best of all, everything is very reasonably priced. read more

This store is a real gem for people who love cooking - not just restaurants. They have great quality commercial grade kitchen items (pots, pans, gadgets, etc) for VERY reasonable prices. I swear by their 1/2 sheet pans. Also great for paper products like compostable plates, forks, cups in case you're having a picnic or casual party. Friendly, helpful staff. read more

This is my happy place. I'm just a basic cook, but also keep bees, tap maples, raise broilers, and do fieldwork with insects. This means I often need to improvise containers, filters, tubing, etc. and can occasionally justify commercial grade kitchen-ware. The staff has always been open and helpful with odd requests and creative solutions, and it's just a joy to browse through the pots and wares. read more
