He fixes it right, the first time, every time. I discovered Craig's shop years ago when I needed a smog. That was it. I have never had anyone else even LOOK at my vehicles since then. I've called him with the stupidest crap several times, and he patiently explains and tells me to come to the shop. Like right now. He drops everything to throw a code reader on my car, or test drive it to make sure everything is normal. Or like today.... My alternator goes out yesterday. I get a jump and call Craig. This man is booked, solid. I mean to the gills and beyond. Know what he says to me? "Bring it in, 9am tomorrow. I'll fit it in." I show up, 9am on the dot. He has 4 customers ahead of me already. Racks full. I'm marvelling at the fact he told me to bring the car down at all. "It won't be done until sometime after lunch" Craig says rather apologetically... Did he forget he's doing me a huge favor? Pfffttt... "Just give me a call Craig. You're the best!" Then he says something that I thought about for a good while.... Keegan, my service advisor, was outstanding. He communicated with me constantly, kept me informed, and provided regular updates throughout the entire process. I never had to wonder what was happening with my truck. What impressed me even more was how I was treated before the service department had even opened. I was stranded at the dealership on a Sunday, waiting for the tow truck to arrive with my truck. A gentleman working that day--I believe he was in sales or finance--treated me as though he were welcoming me into his own home. He came outside to visit with me, invited me to wait inside where it was cool, and offered me water and cookies. That level of genuine kindness is incredibly rare in today's world. I spent my career in retail and served as a vice president of a national brand, so I recognize exceptional customer service and a well-run organization when I see one. He kept me updated on my car and explained the repairs needed clearly and succinctly, educating me on what my car needed without any extra sales pitches or pressure. When it became apparently that it might be a wait based on what was needed, he scheduled me a Lyft to help me to make my next meeting on time. After repair, my car's AC is working great, and I'll reiterate that their offer of a Lyft to and from their shop made what could have been a stressful day significantly easier. Both Julie and Corey (not sure on spelling) are sincere, reasonably priced and just easy going people. A local tire shop was changing my oil recently and said that I needed to replace my valve cover gasket because it was leaking AND they also said we needed to replace the drive belt. I thanked them for their notification and asked them to please just change the oil. I then contacted Julie at SMELTZER and she was able to schedule me in to see her hubby for a second opinion. My husband and I took our car to have Corey look at it. He looked at the engine and found nothing wrong with it. I was shocked by two things, shocked by his honesty when most other mechanics would tell you what best benefits their pocket books- but I was more shocked that a local tire shop in Paso Robles that we have trusted for many many years would try to take advantage of their customers like that. Always dependable in the past, I thought it was roadworthy for a trip from LA to Paso Robles. It was around 90 degrees. Around Arvin, I got a check engine light. When I popped the hood, there was literally an inch high strip of engine fluid left! A good samaratin helped me fill it, and I was able to get to Paso for the night. I was checking out dealerships in Bakersfield, but my friends recommended Dan. Dan squeezed me in the next morning, replaced the engine coolant tank, pressure tested the hoses, and drove it at least 30 miles for testing. The charge was reasonable considering the work they did on it. Dan couldn't find out why I'd lost the engine fluid, but he assured me the car was safe for the drive back. My friends told me to "trust Dan". The car's been running fine ever since.
