Peameal Bacon & Fried Egg on a bun

Stopped for lunch and after having our temperatures checked (Covid) we had the chicken club (with bacon and cheese) with fries - sandwich was tasty, plenty of bacon and good size piece of chicken. Fries have a breading - not my fav. We also had the pea-meal bacon with fried egg on a bun and it had 3 nice slices of bacon and perfectly cooked eggs. Folks were very friendly. Bathroom very clean.

12 pieces on bacon, 3 already eaten

The food's decent, but $22 for a cheeseburger and fries? Outrageous for a simple diner, not a five-star hotel.

My favorite go to place for breakfast when I am working in Canada. Always filling, always flavorful and always a great price.

Hometown cooking, fast and efficient. I enjoy the western sandwich and western omelette.

Review Highlights - B&L Country Kitchen

We went out on the spur of the moment to grab a quick bite and not being into the fast food variety we decided on either Wimpy's or B&L.

Had the fig salad, which everyone seems to rave about, and yeah, it deserves the hype. Fresh, dressed properly, actually filling. The shoestring fries are a problem in the best way. I also got one of the bowls based on what the staff recommended and it was excellent, the kind of food that makes you slow down between bites. What I liked most is that you can tell someone in the kitchen actually cares. Local ingredients, seasonal stuff, and the vegan and gluten friendly options are not slapped on as an afterthought. Everything on the menu feels like it was thought about. Staff were lovely, room is bright and easy to sit in for a while, and the prices are fair. Walked out feeling good, which is rare these days. Honestly, if you live in town and have not been yet, go. Small independent spots like this are the ones worth showing up for.

It had a cozy atmosphere and a nice welcoming vibe. I ordered takeout and got the signature fig salad with added chicken breast--it was delicious and very fresh. Definitely planning to come back another time to dine in.

Decent spot overall, with a few things worth flagging. We…read morecame in for dinner on a weekend and the place had a good buzz to it. Big sports bar setup, tons of TVs, plenty of seating, and the staff were friendly from the moment we walked in. Service was attentive without being pushy and our food came out fast even though they were busy. The menu is huge, maybe a bit overwhelming honestly. We tried a mix of appetizers and mains. Portions are generous, prices are fair for what you get, and the flavours on the dishes that were not deep fried were genuinely good. The braised beef and the seafood pasta in particular stood out. My one real issue, and the reason this is not a five star, is the fryer oil. Anything that came out of the fryer left me feeling heavy and a bit off for the rest of the night, which I have noticed before at places that do not change their oil often enough. The fries and the fried apps tasted fine in the moment but sat poorly afterwards. Not the first time I have had that reaction here, so I do not think it was a one off. If they tightened that up it would make a real difference because the rest of the kitchen clearly knows what it is doing. Service, atmosphere, and portion sizes are all strong. Would come back, but next time I will stick to the grilled and braised dishes and skip the fryer.

So many choices to choose from. My table ordered the lobster crab dip to share ($15). The pita chips were pretty good. I ordered the Fried Soft Shell Crab sandwich ($16). I thought this sandwich was OK, wasn't the biggest fan of it. The crab didn't have enough meat in it, it was pretty small. My friends ordered the burgers and they both enjoyed it. Overall, service was decent. At times it was hard to track down our server, but the restaurant was pretty busy. Menu was great. Food was decent. It's a lively restaurant with lots of tables and TVs. Good atmosphere.
