I took my son here for awhile. The doctor was usually pretty abrupt, for lack of better words. The office staff, I thought, were great. My son kept having the same break in the same place for many pairs of glasses. So I sent the one pair in and paid for another out of pocket in March of last year, received April. Paid a pretty little penny to have an extra pair and was told there was a warranty and that, since there was no change to his vision, would be fine. I called today because of the havoc of covid and being home, my son often did not wear his glasses and I have been managing quite a bit on my own during this time, just like everyone else. I call to get replacement frames for my son to be told they don't take his insurance and apparently won't hold up the warranty for a transaction made with them because the prescription expired and they won't talk to me about it unless I want to come in for a full exam out of pocket. Cool Ok. Send me all the information via email so I can go to the source of the warranty myself since I can't talk to you (the person I am fairly certain was the actual doctor based on the voice) to which they agree and only send me the expired prescription. The prescription that expired 3 months after buying glasses out of pocket because I was told there was no change and no need to be seen for awhile. If I remember correctly, it was like 18 or 24 months I did not have to be seen? But here I am, a kid needing reading glasses, with frames broken under the eye. In a frame that cannot be glued because of the break's location, with glasses that were not validly his prescription 3 months after the purchase. With no call to schedule or let me know the prescription had ended, even though we went in for the exam with no changes. I paid money and was scammed because they, first of all, didn't tell me it was an invalid prescription. Secondly, they won't hold up their promise of a warranty because I don't have their desired insurance, even though this was a transaction, not a doctor visit. I'm really surprised they have so many good reviews on here. read more

I ordered $650 sunglasses and they delivered a pair with wrong color lenses and frame. I was patient. Didnt complain. When the replacement pair arrived it had the wrong perscription...could not read in them and the frame color was a different wrong color. I once again left politely waiting for the correct frame but they started giving me the run around saying my eyes may of changed in the 2 months since my last appointment when inquiring about lenses. Knowing this is not the case being my regular glasses work just fine I asked for money back. Instead of crediting my credit card they told me their accountant would call me. It's ben a week and no call. Filing dispute with credit card now. The office help is worthless. Merry Christmas! Could use that money back. read more

You can tell she sincerely cares about her patients and makes sure to take the time to explain everything as she goes through her examination/visit. The office staff will go above and beyond to try to resolve any issues you may have and make sure to follow up in the time frame they provided. Dr. Bernstein is a really nice guy. I like that he gets to know you. Nice office, felt very comfortable-- parking lot is a little tricky (I pulled in too late into the wrong one and there was no connection, so I had to pull out and then turn back in to the right one) but if you're looking out and just pull in right after you see the sign, you'll be good. Women at the front desk were really nice and helpful, too. Even before my appointment they were so helpful with getting my insurance all settled. Overall my exam was completely painless. This review is so unfortunate, since Dr. Benham was nice. If you don't need a referral or anything out of the ordinary, then your experience will probably be fine. My daughter needed a referral to a pediatric ophthalmologist. When we checked out, the front office girl stated she would be sending the referral over immediately but it would be at least 2 weeks before a provider was chosen. The following madness occurred: I waited 4 weeks to allow plenty of time (appointment on 11/1, called after Thanksgiving for update), and I was told by a nervous lady that I needed to wait for a call back in a few minutes. I waited a few hours with no call back, then I called back for an update. I was then told I had to wait for the Dr. to come in the following day. I asked why, since she had already put in her referral and it was sent to insurance. She handed the phone to someone else. Spoke with the worst customer service person I have ever experienced, Monica, who said it was filed away and NEVER SENT! If it wasn't sent, why are you stating you need to speak with the Dr, just trying to get me off the phone unfortunately because it was awkward for her to explain. I could not believe it! I told her when we checked out it was supposed to be sent right away. She just stayed quiet and said she would send it then. She said she would send it marked urgent (after I asked her to) to the insurance, and was not empathetic but sarcastic and almost bothered that she needed to do this. I waited a few days for the authorization to go through, then contacted the insurance who stated Bernstein and Benham is supposed to contact me to provide the new provider info, which had already been authorized 2 days prior. Needless to say, they never called to give me the info. On top of all of this, when I called the authorized provider they stated Bernstein and Benham sent the referral with no codes, and it could not be processed without them! I feel like Monica did this purposely just to be spiteful, although I hope this is not the case. I was able to call and plead with the insurance to get it fixed because I never want to have any ties or communication again with this office. I feel bad for those who need referrals or anything other than business as usual, because it is like pulling teeth. All the while, my kid has been the one suffering because she cannot see well out of one eye and needs glasses. A huge delay occurred all due to one person's negligence. read more

My family and I have been going to B & B for close twenty years. The service has always been excellent. I didn't think it could be better until we were served by Liisi and Nancy. At our 1st appointment Liisi and Nancy offered advise on how to chose glasses that allowed my daughter and grandson pick out glasses that fit well and were very complimentary. Both ladies made us feel so comfortable and were very professional. This was especially true for the follow up fitting appointment. This was perfect for my teen age grandson who was being fitted with glasses for the first time. Liisi made him feel comfortable and taught him how to care for is glasses.
