Breakfast bread bar I'd like to call this place. Very unique bowls and wraps. The wraps are genuinely my favorite from this place, especially the spitfire meat wraps. Most favorite part of their wraps for me is always the wrap itself. Carbs itself can be so good. Reliable lunch spot for me to order takeout as it's close to my office with less delivery traffic. The only deduct from me is the food here can be pricey and more so if added as a combo. A wrap with waffle fries and their beverages can average out to $30 something on a hungry day. SO good - we came in to ask if we could place a big group/catering order a few days ahead of time since this is a smaller spot/window in the shops at Columbus Circle. They put me in touch with a manager who emailed me to coordinate. They did not discount anything even though we ordered for about 40 people, but the price itself is pretty reasonable. Flavor wise, all the bowls (which is what we got for ease of eating) were delicious! Enough so that a few of us went back a few days later to get more. I got the wrap the second time and unfortunately was a bit disappointed - not much sauce and it was really hard to eat, so wouldn't recommend taking it to go because that may have been the issue. read more

Thoroughly disappointing. I chose the Fold Ups in Spicy Pork ($11) and Waffle Fries ($6.50). Brenda asked me what level of spiciness I could take? When I got my lunch, I went to eat it at the table outside which was standing only. I opened the fold up box to see two flattish buns with pork strips looking pink and unappetizing. One bite confirmed my fear. The fries were fine but I did not spend $19+change to eat potatoes in any shape or form. Another customer came to eat her fold up of chicken and told me that it tasted dismal. It is perplexing that Bāng Bar operated by the Momofuku group should dish out such poor quality food when right next door the cuisine is one hundred times tastier and of course much more costly. read more

I was pretty crushed when Momofuku closed up shop here in Toronto, so I was excited to check out Bang Bar during my New York City vacation. We showed up around lunchtime on a weekday and I was surprised there was no seating available. There was a table nearby for standing, though, which worked just fine for us. It's a pretty limited menu, so I went with The U Wrap, which is a flatbread rolled and filled with, in my case, Spicy Pork. It was ready a few minutes later and I dug in. It's really good. Like, shockingly good. The fresh, thin flatbread is excellent, but it's that filling that knocked my socks off. The tender pieces of pork have been accompanied by this sweet, spicy sauce that's nothing short of addictive. Give me a bottle of that stuff and I'll drink it straight. I can only hope that the Bang Bar makes its way up here, because I need to eat that wrap as often as possible. read more

Stopped in for lunch on a day off. Only a few people in line ahead of me. Once I ordered, I don't think it took more than 5 minutes for me to get my food. I ordered the spicy pork U-wrap and since several other people did the same they made them all at the same time. If I went back I wouldn't order the wrap again. It's essentially meat and the wrap, a little too basic. The online menu says it comes with onions so not sure if that's true. The flavor of the pork was very good! I haven't been this disappointed in a meal in a long time... it's a pretty limited menu, and since it was our first time, and given it was a Momofuku, we definitely had high expectations. We ordered a bit of everything to go. However, we're extremely disappointed. The only saving grace was the fries, extra plain rice and miso CC cookie. My partner and I got chicken teriyaki bowl and the eggplant bowl. Both bowls were drenched in white sauce. And not appetizing. The white sauce did nothing for either dish. I'm pretty sure this is not halal or Mediterranean? So, the vision for this eatery is unclear and disappointing. We also ordered the side of garlic cucumbers. The garlic cucumbers were drenched in softened peanuts. The garlic was garlic powder, not even fresh garlic. Nan Xiang Express does a better job. Even the sauces on the side were terrible, and seemed confused with no vision on the cuisine. The spice green sauce was reminiscent of a Mexican tomatillo picante, but also a Caribbean pepper sauce. The red sauce, which was teriyaki-like was also a disappointment. Not sure what the vision was for all of these flavors, but it does not work. The eggplant itself was okay, but again, Nan Xiang Express is so much better. The chicken bowl was even more disappointing. The teriyaki sauce was not good at all. Also the quality of the meat was questionable. Overall, it really deserves a 1-star, but the saving grace is above. I do not recommend. I had the spicy pork U wrap, which totally hit the spot for me. It's a korean spicy pork wrapped in a thin tortilla! Basically a light Korean burrito. I liked the pickled onions, although as I made my way on to the end of my wrap I thought it became a little much. Maybe a little less pickled onions inside, and having more on the side as an option would have been better. My friend said she really liked her spicy eggplant fold ups (look like tacos). Well I'm not a huge fan of Momofuku Noodle Bar I did hear good things about this place and wanted to give it a try. Apparently, one of the things that they do well it's just the quality of the better they're using for their U Wraps, which are just U-shaped rolls, kind of like Kati rolls, but with East Asian inspired fillings and sauce. It's kind of like kati roll meets peking duck vibes. PORK U WRAP The sauce kind of reminded me of a hoisin/chili paste sort of deal, with heat running through it. It was richly savory, and the pork was fatty/globby at times, tender but tough at others. The bread was warm, and was light, airy, crispy, and was quite good. For $12 it's not exactly the cheapest thing, but I would def eat it again and am surprised by the quality as it's in a mall. read more

I love this place. It is pretty unique, I don't see other lunch options like this around midtown. The spicy pork is so good and the tangy white sauce and spicy red sauce compliments it so well. Portion sizes are good, price is good. I order on DoorDash and it is always ready quickly for the Dasher to pickup. I wish they had a low-carb options (e.g., a bowl with a cabbage or veggie base instead of rice) because then I could order it more often without feeling as guilty. But it is a delicious meal when I choose to treat myself. EDIT-turns out you can order a cabbage bowl with no rice as a modifier option for the rice bowl. My mistake! Bāng Bar really does give you quite the bang in terms of the interesting flavors you can find here. Seeing as it's tucked away on the third floor of the Columbus Circle mall, the hidden gem title is more than deserved. This time around, I ordered the teriyaki chicken U wrap with a side of waffle fries. Starting with the fries, I found absolute quality in the first bite. Satisfying crunch on the outside and a plentiful, soft, and moist potato interior. Considering the wide surface area of the waffle fry, this is exactly the kind of production you're looking for. Feels like you're feasting on the whole potato farm in one bite. The chili dipping sauce that accompanies it is delicious as well. It's everything you'd look for in a sauce of its kind: spicy (actually somewhat spicy, not like McDonald's spicy), sweet, a little salty, and a bit tangy as well. With as blank of a canvas as a fry can be, this sauce makes for a wonderful taste portrait. The wrap comes with a rather unique design: a long and skinny flatbread bent in the shape of a U such that you start with two ends to bite as opposed to the usual one. It's attractive and novel, but a little hard to navigate once you hit the bend of that U turn. I don't mind getting a little messy with my food every once in a while, though. The real concern here was the moisture: I felt that the wrap could've used a bit more sauce or moister chicken. The veggies helped a lot with texture and I really appreciated the stretchy feel of the flatbread that held the ingredients together and gave the whole bite some more chew. Flavorfully, the wrap was decent. The subtle pinch of savory and acid was nice, but not necessarily mind blowing. Still an enjoyable wrap. All in all, Bāng Bar comes with friendly employees, a strong shift from your usual fast food, and a meal to remember. This place used to be great but has sadly gone extremely down hill. The old menu was way better and had better options. The new menu has less variety and the combos don't work as well. The meat is also often very dry. It seems like with the new menu they hired an entirely new staff that makes the sloppiest wraps ever. The pork and the eggplant were both way to salty and the flavors were very muddled. The shaved cabbage and pickled onions that came with the bowl was not enough to cut through all the sodium. When I first read about this place in an article, i can't lie and say that I wasn't intrigue because I hella was! Bang Bar is worth every bang of the buck. I love David Chang's innovative concept of combining mediterranean food with a Korean twist. I'm not a big fan of shawarma because it can be a bit dry at times but I can tell you, David Chang definitely knows how to marinate his meats! And the bread is so fluffy. It's lighter than naan but thicker than roti without all the buttery residue. Be prepared for a quick, delicious breakfast or lunch. The spicy pork was a bit on the fatty side and had a stronger flavor from the sauce, while the chicken was a bit leaner and had a more typical flavor from its soy/teriyaki-like sauce. The highlight, however, remains the flatbread, which had a delightfully chewy, elastic texture. David Chang's newest spot just opened at Columbus Circle, the quick service bread bar open for breakfast and lunch. Soon to be joined by a new location of Noodle Bar, this is something fun and different, using great bread similar to the one he's been serving at the original noodle bar location downtown. For breakfast, from 8-11, definitely try the Kkwabaegi ($3.79), a delicious sweet cinnamon twist doughnut, which is actually made with the same dough as all of the other breads here. There are also three other options classified as "Mini" - I skipped the veggie one but I did try the Mortadella & Cheese ($4) and the Zabar's Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese ($9), which were both excellent. For lunch, from 11 until they sell out, you can get a hearty "The U", which is more of that great Bāng Bread, this time in a larger portion and folded around either Spicy Pork or Chicken ($5.79) into a big U shape. The pork definitely has some nice kick to it and makes for a satisfying grab and go meal at a definite steal of a price. You can also get some of that warm bread on it own with some spicy eggplant or chickpea dip ($2.99). I will be back any time new items are introduced, as everything was delicious. I came during lunch around 2pm and there wasn't a line there. I ordered the spicy pork over rice. I was also able to try their kimchi for free. Pros: the flavor of the spicy pork was really good and actually spicy. I liked that it was spicy enough to have my nose run a little but not enough where I needed water and couldn't enjoy it. The staff there were very friendly and interacted with the customers. While waiting for my order, they offered a free tasting of their traditional rice pudding (I think) with kimchi. The dish itself was not good at all but as the two employees were offering it, they were being playful when suggesting it which maybe me feel welcomed. Cons: the ratio of rice to pork was too high. The rice itself did not have any flavor so I tried to conserve the pork and sauce to put it over the rice. The rice pudding with kimchi had a very subtle flavor, so subtle that I didn't taste anything. Overall: the pork was very tasty and due to its limited menu, there I don't think I'll make my way back here however I would try the pork dish if you happen to stop by. read more

But the spicy pork was so spicy it was almost inedible (and I love spicy food), and there was barely any meat in the u wrap. For $12, they could at fill the wrap to the end - only the middle had some meat. The chicken tacos/folds were very good in flavor but also overpriced for their size. On the 3rd floor of the Time Warner Center, Bāng Bar stands alongside restaurants like Bluebird and Bouchon Bakery, and under the prestige of Masa, Per Se, and Landmarc. But what makes Bāng Bar stand out besides the quickness and efficiency of the food is the price. With $6, you can enjoy the U, which resembles a Korean burrito, but the tortilla is much softer. It's kind of small, but still a decent snack. I had both the spicy pork and the chicken Us, and the chickpea dip. The spicy pork was amazing. The chicken was also good, but didn't have as much flavor. It's the healthier option, and still tasted decent. But the spicy pork--I'd go back again just for that. read more

( that was pretty plus ) Me and my friend ordered one of each Chickem and pork wrap and Eggplant dip. Around the area, all restaurant are pretty expensive. If we feel to eat We had only 2 choices to high end bakery or Whole Foods before. They were okay for quick note though but here is more like restaurant quality grab&go spot under $10. We thought the package was fancy enough. They should ask and make compact ( no need paper bag and rid ) if ppl eat in. No need to spend expense for trash ! Oh my! Walking on my way to class, I remembered that Bang Bar was at Columbus Circle, 3rd floor. I wish the signage was a little better on floor 3 to show which direction Bang Bar is, but you'll find it eventually after walking around lol. I come to say that while I'm sad that they're sold out on Day 3 after opening, their customer service was great! There was a gentleman who apologized for being sold out as soon as I stepped in and offered a sample of their spicy pork. Their spicy pork is delicious!! If you don't like or stand spicy food, it is on the mild side. Since it just opened, I recommend going there early if you can since it's super popular right now(check David Chang's insta). read more

Had to try the new Momofuku Bāng Bar for breakfast. We got there early at 8am to avoid any lines, and thankfully we did. We ordered the mortadella and cheese wrap, the Zabar's smoked salmon, and the cinnamon bun. The smoked salmon was very good, filled with cream cheese and capers. The mortadella wrap was also good, juicy, greasy with cheese and mustard on it. The cinnamon bun is certainly very unique, it tastes really good, and lighter than a normal cinnamon bun. Overall good experience and I will be returning to Bāng Bar to try the lunch wraps as well. Went back for lunch and tried the chicken and pork wrap. The general manager Riccardo was kind enough to also let us try their new breakfast special. Everything was delicious, in particular the pork. read more
