One of the best Korean-style fried chicken spots I've had. I ordered the original small wings ($21.85) with garlic sauce on the side, but honestly, they didn't even need the sauce. The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy and flavorful on the inside -- perfectly done. I would absolutely come back just for the fried chicken alone. I also tried the Army Stew ($23), which was perfect for a cold winter day. Just the right level of spiciness, loaded with instant noodles, sausage, and spam -- such a comforting (and slightly guilty) pleasure. I don't think I've had Korean food outside of Koreatown in Manhattan so this was interesting to try. We came on a weekday night and there was no one there. The servers were incredibly attentive and kind! - Kimchi Pancake - I think this was probably the best dish out of the three. The pancake was very crispy and was stuffed with kimchi. I did feel like it was a bit oily and small though. - Marinated Short Ribs with Corn Cheese - I felt like the short ribs wasn't very tender and the portion sizes were a bit small as they gave around 10 pieces of meat including the ends for almost $30. I did appreciate the corn cheese though which went well with the kimchi pancake as well as the free rice. - Spicy Korean Army Stew - I feel quite ambivalent about this to be honest. I feel like the portion sizes were a bit small and there wasn't many ingredients in there past the spam, sausage, and noodles. Was in the city for a nearby concert and needed something to eat. Found The Jin on Yelp and figured it would be perfect. I walked in just before 5 on a Thursday, absolutely perfect time as it was nice and quiet! Restaurant is clean and comfortable, staff is friendly and professional. I was expecting a juicy crispy Korean style fried chicken but instead got a really thinly flattened over cooked piece of chicken. The Jin was the answer to where to eat after the Late Show with Colbert. An easy multi block walk that was so worth it. We popped in on a Monday evening and were seated right away. They had opened their front sidewalk door/window and allowed the beautiful evening air in. I saw Korean Fried Chicken and I was set. My table mates went for a Bulgogi bowl and a Bulgogi Japchae. We also ordered their dumplings. Like a speeding bullet the fried chicken arrived at the table - hot, crispy and drizzled with a luscious sauce. Next came the other two entrees nicely presented and hot. The chicken was super crispy crunchy and had great flavor and was very moist. Dipping sauces came with the chicken but the drizzle was plenty flavorful enough for me. The Bulgogi dishes were good but the depth of flavor of the meat wasn't quite bold enough. We make are own at home and are quite smitten so perhaps an unfair comparison. The dumplings arrived after the entrees and were fine. We could have skipped them in retrospect. Service was friendly, fast and professional. The restaurant was clean, well lit and inviting. If my rating was on just the chicken it would have been 5 stars. Stopped by for a midday meal. The restaurant was not crowded at around 4p on a Wednesday. Service was courteous, not a lot of attention but there if you need something. We ordered an 11 piece fried chicken for appetizer. Then we had a beef bulgogi over rice and burger with fries. Everything was fine and hit the spot. The water glass is on the small side. I would suggest the half and half so you get half and half sauce - - both the garlicsoy and spicy (get extra garlicsoy, you won't regret it). I love the dipping sauce that they give you and I poured that on everything. It's a simple dish, but a lot of food. I also got the pork belly with sautéed kimchi. That was our favorite. Normally pork belly is very fatty and I liked how well this was cooked. A ton of pork belly to eat as well. I was shocked by the portion size. Service was all smiles and they sat us fast and always filled our waters. I really like them. I like the space. I like our table. I like the open window entrance for the summertime. My mom and I came out of a Tuesday morning taping of the Drew Barrymore Show at CBS Broadcasting Studio, and found this spot on Google Maps nearby. Clean, dark interior, it was pretty much empty at 2:30pm, and we selected a seat near the entrance to enjoy the open air and sunlight. The server was extremely attentive and welcoming. We ordered the japchae with bulgogi, and the short ribs with corn cheese. He brought us extra kimchi, made sure our waters were always topped off, and even changed out our used napkins. The food, though, was amazing! It's crazy to think this might be one of the best korean meals I've ever had, and I've eaten great korean food in NYC Koreatown, the Bay Area, in LA, and Irvine, CA. Generous portions of everything. Short ribs were perfectly tender, and the bed of corn cheese deliciously soaked up the juices. The japchae was bouncy and perfectly flavorful with a generous helping of bulgogi on top. Even the kimchi was perfectly sour and complemented everything! On freezing cold day, nothing beats a warm bowl ramen. I searched around where I was and found the Jin. It is situated on a relatively quiet section of the neighborhood. I could not find obvious sign out front but the clean, modern design of the entrance made it the 'obvious'. There are two kinds of ramen options - pork vs chicken. I chose the pork option. I also ordered a small fried chicken. When both came out, I was surprised by the size of the fried chicken. It's good for two people. The skin was crispy and the hot sauce was just right, spicy and tangy. The ramen was good but the stand out item in it was the poached egg. You have to try it. The only shortcomings of this place is single restroom. It's clean but looks like needing a renovation. Would be back in the summer and try out a few more items. read more

Insanely delicious! We have a new favorite restaurant in Hells Kitchen, The Jin. Stopped by for lunch with my wife and can't stop talking about the tasty food Let's start with the Bulgogi Tacos. Wow. Stuffed full of juicy marinaded beef with peppers in a sold corn tortilla. These aren't your tiny appetizers, they're huge. And so good. Maybe my favorite taco period. We also had a bowl of glass noodles with Bulgogi, also very delicious. A bit a kimchi too to round out our lunch. They also had a great assortment of local and imported beers and adult beverages, but it was lunch so next time. Atmosphere at The Jin is very clean, modern and warm with hardwood floors and, exposed brick walls. The front opens up to the sidewalk, always a nice feature. I liked The Jin for relatively affordable, tasty Korean food. The interior has about a dozen tables and while it's mostly catered to couples and small parties, there's room to fit a larger party. The staff is friendly and helpful too. Restroom is small but clean. Obviously, the fried chicken is their most popular menu item, but I found it slightly overpriced and overseasoned. It's not bad or anything, just not my favorite. Loved the savory kimchi pancake, which is gooey and slightly spicy. The cheese corn was just so-so. This small, fusion Korean restaurant was a nice find on Friday afternoon! I was looking for a place to grab lunch near Columbus Circle - this restaurant was a few blocks away. I walked in around 1 pm and was seated immediately. There was another couple having lunch and a few other people came in while I was there. It wasn't too crowded or busy for lunch hour which I appreciated. It was nice that day, so the storefront walls were open to let the fresh air and sunlight in. I ordered the bulgogi beef tacos and sizzling corn cheese as my side. The beef tacos tasted great! It had just enough filling and lots of flavor. The sizzling corn cheese was piping hot when it came out - so remember to wait a few minutes to starting to eat it. I love corn so I have nothing negative to say about that dish! Although the portions were pretty good my bulgogi on a sizzling plate came out kind of dry, maybe they left it in the window for a little too long. Their menus were also only on the walls which had us squinting or standing up or just looking through the website on our phones. But I did see that their takeouts were nonstop so some people definitely like this place and maybe I just had an isolated bad experience with my dry bulgogi.
