We decided to fire our General Contractor, and many of his subs. The first person I needed to hire at that point in the project, was a first class tile contractor. I was exceptionally fortunate to find Clinton "Tally Ho" Blears, and Tile Accents! Clinton is a seasoned pro, who had been doing high end tile installations here on Oahu for 40 years. Clinton came to our site, with lasers, levels, and measuring tapes, and spent two days, figuring out if floors and walls were level/plumb, getting square footage, and figuring out everything he would need to produce an accurate bid that he could stand behind. A first, on our job, at that stage. I could already tell, he was the right guy for the job! Tile Accents are consummate pros! We've now worked with them for almost two years, off and on. Their work is impeccable. The quality and thoroughness of their installations are superb, artistry and craftsmanship through, and through! Clinton's team show up right on time, every single day. The work non-stop until it's time to clean up and head home. The project instantly gained in quality, and momentum because of TA's professionalism. Clinton communicates great, and was very helpful in helping us to avoid problems, and plan properly for all subsequent trades. His knowledge, and assistance above and beyond tile setting, helped us successfully complete our project! We were lucky they were available to add our pool resurfacing to their scope of work. It is literally flawless. A true work of art, and master craftsmanship. I only have great things to say about this company. They do it the right way, every time, no shortcuts. The results speak for them selves. Our original contractor barely ordered enough tile for each room, not making proper allowances for breakage or cuts. Fortunately Clinton managed to complete every space, even without margin for error. This is the only company on the island that I will ever use for tile work, and I suggest you make the same choice for your project. That is what the team at Renovate Hawaii did for us. We met Kyle (we call him Kyle Style because he has a good sense of style that we like) who is part of the Renovate Hawaii team and when we were describing the vision we were going for, he knew exactly what we were talking about and even showed us pictures of a renovation they recently did. We wanted a full renovation of the kitchen, dining room. We already knew what countertops, appliances, we wanted and Kyle complemented us on our choices as the look is totally modern. He said that they can get us the countertops as only a select few can get them due to they only sell to officially licensed companies who are certified to work with that particular brand stone. After Kyle did all the measurements and took down the notes he made another appointment to bring back Matt the owner of Renovate Hawaii to come and give his expert opinions as well as options. When Matt came down, he noticed that the cabinets were actually custom made, not one of those cookie cutter ones from China or from one of the big box stores. He suggested on having them refinished by a company that does really good work ( I will make a review for that company later ). Matt and Kyle were looking around gave us ideas and somethings we didn't even think about like what kind of fixtures we were going to get and where would the placements be. They even upgraded all the hinges to soft-close for our drawers and cabinets. The kitchen had dated tile and the rest of the rooms were a mixture of old carpet, hardwood and lament so they tore it all out as well as the baseboards and got rid of all the rubbish. We found a place that had all the flooring in stock and Matt said his guys could pick it up and delivery to our house which made life so much easier. They even picked up our baseboards from The Home Depot. They went beyond in helping us get what we wanted. Since we had our own electrician Tory who is also the bomb as he too gave us great suggestions and connected the lighting so we can use an app to operate them as well as did so much more. Renovate and Tory worked well together to make our dream a reality. One thing to note is that not all things go as smoothly as you'd like. For the things that needed to be fixed, Matt and the team came back to take care of them. If you are looking for someone to help you turn your house into a home, don't hesitate to call Renovate Hawaii as that's what they do.
