Best Mexican food on the Oregon coast! Their fish tacos were amazing!!! I even bought their salsa to take home! Yummy!!!

Food was not that great. I think the ratings are hyped up. We had dinner for 5 to celebrate my granddaughter's birthday. She selected the restaurant. Whoever the older lady is that serves the food should learn customer service skills. She's unfriendly and if you make any changes, she lets you know she doesn't appreciate it. The Gentlemen who also serves food is a little better. We felt rushed to get through the meal. Very disappointing. I know there's limited restaurants in Waldport, but keep driving up 101, you'll find something better! read more

Had such a nice late lunch with my mom here after a long beach walk. It has a cozy, wram decor with an attractive bar. Our waitress was delightful and attentive and saw to our every need. With big appetites, we ordered margaritas and fajitas and finished every bite. Everything was fresh and delicious and the margaritas were amazing. Definitely a top spot in Lincoln County! read more

At the end of the street near the boat launch you will find really a Mexican restaurant that is worth looking for Chips are crisp the two salsas are yummy and the entrees are well flavored and perfectly proportioned. The tamale had the perfect ratio of meat to masa and the verde sauce was extremely flavorful. One of our must haves when we are in town. read more

We were nearby for a wedding, and wanted to check out Waldport. We jumped on Yelp and found Azul. The place was clean, plenty of parking, and the staff were inviting and friendly. Food came out fresh and fast, and was delicious. I got the chimichanga, the wife got a taco salad, the in-laws got a couple of beef tacos. The chips and salsa were fresh. The food was great. My wife compared it to one her favorite Mexican restaurants back home in Tennessee. We haven't found many in Oregon that come close. If I'm ever back in, or near, Waldport...this is where I'll be when I'm hungry and in the mood for some good Mexican food. read more

The food at the this restaurant is absolutely amazing! Very authentic, so very flavorful and beautiful presentation. The owners are the cooks and servers and make you feel so comfortable and valued. Their holiday decorations make this place so warm and cozy. We've lived in Newport almost a year and and can't believe it was the first time we've been here. I've given this place a few tries. Stomach trouble is authentic, I guess. None of the other Mexican food restaurants in Lincoln county give me stomach problems. Food is pretty bland and usually all wet and mushy. I wanted to like them, but it's just expensive Taco Bell. Try anywhere else unless you enjoy spending time on the toilet. Having eaten in Mexico and not had this issue, I have to assume it is a sanitation issue. read more

Azul is a cute little place with a good atmosphere. The food was pretty good until my husband found a hair in his meal. He showed it to the employee that walked by the table. The employee told him...Sorry friend, it happens, and continued walking. My husband stopped him again and asked who he could speak to about it. The man said he was the owner. He said how do I know the hair isn't yours? My cook wears a cap. The hair was short, maybe an inch and a half. My husbands hair is long...maybe 8 inches. It wasn't his but, either way, he should have taken it into consideration and not just blown it off. I finished some more of my meal, now with the atmosphere ruined and ended up paying the whole bill. I tipped well for the lady that had been our server. She was very nice. Azul should be more concerned when a customer has a complaint. read more

Dang, I feel kind of bad giving this little restaurant a 2, but you crazy Yelpers let me down with this one! First off, let me say that the ladies working here were really nice. But the service was slow and inconsistent, the food was not good and the layout of the restaurant really weird and not at all welcoming or inviting. When we walked in at 5:15 on a Saturday evening almost every table was taken so we were asked to wait a few minutes; but there was no place inside to wait! Immediately to our right was the ladies restroom and to our left a plexiglass partition to the cashier. My husband, two children and I stood in the tiny, narrow area until another customer tried to come in and pushed us into the dining area. A server rushed by with her arms full of dirty dishes she was bussing and she snakily asked us to move out of the main pathway to the kitchen. Um, where were we supposed to go? We crammed back into the narrow entry and questioned whether or not we should find someplace else to eat. But we had seen on our drive there that we didn't really have any other family-friendly options in Waldport that were open that evening so we decided to ride it out. 10 minutes later we got a table and then we waited. And waited and waited and waited. The elderly women at the table next to us started a conversation with me and when I asked how long they had been waiting for their food they said, "a long time." Strike two. About 15 minutes after we sat down our server showed up and asked what we wanted to order. We ordered (and also gave drink orders since that hadn't happened yet) and we then proceeded to wait. Drinks and chips came about 10 minutes later, right as my kids were getting ready to climb the walls. To my disappointment, the salsa was bad--it tasted like jarred pizza sauce with a little bit of oregano added. By far the weirdest salsa I've ever been offered. By that time, most of the restaurant had emptied and there were only two other tables beside ours waiting for food. I thought that might be a good sign. Nah. Our food took another 50 minutes to arrive and during that time we were able to notice the Christmas decorations still hanging from the ceiling in mid-January, thick layer of dust on every ledge, dying houseplants, and strange musical arrangements performed by a senior citizen with an electronic keyboard (ie "the entertainment"). What?? Our chips and drinks were long gone (no refills or second beer were offered while we waited) and I was practically peeling my hungry, cranky kids off the floor by the time our food arrived. And what do you know? The food was lame! Nothing even close to authentic Mexican food and definitely not worth the prices they were charging. Such a bummer. A drive to Taco Bell in Newport would have yielded better results. So if you are looking for Mexican food in Waldport my suggestion is to keep driving and try another town. I was pretty bummed that this Yelp pick was so far off the mark--especially since it was my birthday! :( We won't go back to Azul the next time we're in Waldport. read more

Went here again after arriving at my girlfriends mothers place to begin our week of vacation. Got the steak and shrimp along with a margarita. The steak was ok but the star of the dish was the butterflied shrimp. The margaritas here are pretty good as well! read more

My husband and I live here in Waldport ~ and we have come here so many time for lunch and dinner that we have lost count. Husband mostly gets taco's, I on the other hand try something different every time. Yesterday had the Beef Chimichanga. It was so good. They don't bat an eye when you ask for more onions, sour cream or salsa or to leave off the guacamole. In all the times we have eaten there it has never been loud, the service has always been prompt & friendly. And it has been warm inside. Being right there by the dock, the winds can be freezing. We have never been rushed or ignored. Husband was greatly impressed with the cleanliness of not only the restaurant but of the men's room. I have yet to use the ladies room - but I assume they are just as clean. read more

Old, weathered building at the end of a small road, not very pretty from the outside, slightly better on the inside with booths and tables. Kind and quick service. The waitress was very attentive, between refills and seeing how we liked the food. She transferred leftovers into the takeaway containers. Food: good, maybe the best Mexican sit-down in the immediate area. Great chips and salsa (2 kinds, one sweet that I didn't care for, one hot that I did). Portions are huge. I'd go back. read more

Love this place! This is the best meal we've had our whole vacation. My husband had chile verde burrito and loved it. I had the fajita burrito and it was really good as well. My 12 year old had the fish tacos and scarfed them up and our two year old got the kids chicken burrito and ate better than I've seen her eat this whole trip. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It was a bit pricey for lunch but we'd definitely eat here again and I'm sure we would have saved $ had we ordered off the lunch menu. read more

The place is small and charming. They checked back often and the owner asked if we were on vacation and had a lovely chat with us. The waitress served a little girl near us a dish of ice cream piled high with whip cream. I'm not sure it was ordered and she was delighted. Pretty cute. I didn't expect much for Waldport, and would recommend Azul and go again. If there was a half-star option to award, I would say 3.5 stars. read more

I prefer Fresh Mexican on the other side of Waldport, but my mom prefers Azul, so if you have a chance to try out both, go for it, but if you are only there long enough to try out one.....
