One of the good Mexican food options in downtown St Joe. They have great service and some classic options. Like most Mexican restaurants in the Midwest they tend to be more Americanized but having said that they do stay true to some good classics. I've tried the Fajitas, Chicken breast, and drinks. Overall everything is good and fresh. I have also ordered and highly recommend Cantarito which is a traditional Tequila cocktail and they are great. I hope they continue to add more traditional Mexican options to their menu, maybe offer quest fresco and homemade tortillas, maybe even menudo, birria, or Pozole would be awesome. I cannot believe it took me so long to try Azul Tequila. My family has been driving past this restaurant for years and always talking about trying one day. I am so glad we finally did! The outside of the restaurant is very bright and lit up. It almost looks like its solely a bar. When I walked in, I was amazed at how big the restaurant was. There was a big fountain in the middle. It was very pretty! The overall decorations were really fun. There was seating all around the fountain. There was a bar around the corner from the main fountain seating area. They even have additional seating outside. When we came, we sat near the kitchen and bar area. The service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and checked on us frequently. The other wait staff were also very friendly when they walked by asking us how our meal is and if there were anything else they could get for us. Now for the best part, THE FOOD. It was wonderful. I had a bean burrito and a side of rice. It was delicious. The bean burrito was pretty big and I could hardly eat it all! The Mexican rice was great too. My favorite part of the meal was the guacamole. I had not had guacamole in a long time and I did into realize how much I was craving this! It was slightly spicy and it had some extra zest that was so tasty. There were lime margaritas on special. They were very strong. I considered watering my down (I have a very low tolerance). They were in these cute little glasses and were only $4.99 on special. Overall, this restaurant is great. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the Benton Harbor/St. Joe area. It is reasonably priced and I will DEFINITELY be returning the next time I travel to Michigan. read more

the food is definitely americanized mexican food. portions are humongous, and they definitely LOVE cheese there because it's sprinkled generously on EVERYTHING. my favorite dish is the molcajete. comes in a sizzling bowl with every meat and veggie they have. yum! didn't care for their margaritas however. very sugary and really weak. read more

I went to Azul Tequila my favorite restaurant. It's under new management. I ordered T-bone steak and shrimp. Red flag...they never asked how I wanted it cooked. Then it was at my table in less than 5 minutes. When I uncovered my so called steak, it was not steak. It looked, tasted and smelled like pork steak. I asked for the manager. She insisted it was T-bone steak. I refused to eat it and had it sent back. The manager still wanted me to pay for the food even though it was sent back uneaten. Then she tried to argue with me that it was T-Bone steak. My husband worked for JBS meat factory. He said it was not T-bone. It was not even steak. There was a man in there that paid for my uneaten meal. He even apologized on their behalf. That was something they should have done. read more

Excellent service! The food was fresh and the waiter was cordial. When asked for special accommodations, they were agreeable. Some places charge for chips and salsa; they did not. Best Mexican food I've eaten in Michigan felt like I was back in California the waitress ana was amazing and made us feel like family.

Group of 7, locals who go here often, were treated with total disrespect and lied to 3 times. They sat groups behind us left and right, and told us "they had reservations". One of the members of our party went outside, and tried calling to make a reservation, and they were told "we don't take reservations". We then called the manager out for lying to us, and they tried to tell us they changed the rules 2 months ago. I know for a fact that in March (4 months ago) they didn't take reservations there either. They have now lost long time customers, who go out in a group for dinner almost weekly, and drop a pretty penny. It's not like we were one time out of Towner's, we are the locals who (used to) support their business year round in this high tourist area. I would have given 0 stars if possible. read more

I wanted to order a drink and the server say" I have to many tables so I can't get you drink", never heard a restaurant refuse to take a drink order because a server has to many tables that he has to attend to! The restaurant should limit the number Of people they let in so one server could attend certain amount of tables. Won't be going back to this place. I came in with my daughter for early dinner and was seated at the largest table by the bar; we were asked to move because a big party came in, which is fine, but we seemed to be forgotten at our new table. My daughter told me "mommy I'm hungry". I waited a LONG time, asked two people who our server was, and even walked up to the counter where you pay. NO ONE helped us...... finally a waitress who felt sorry for us took our order after I asked; many people seated after us had their orders taken and received food before our order was even taken. So we go to the bathroom after our order was taken and a girl tries to hand me my keys, so I explained we're only going to the bathroom. When we come back, they had cleaned our table off! I don't think she understood what I was saying. We received our food and not once did anyone ever ask us how it was. I had to ask for our water again and walk to the front to get more silverware. Then a man who never acknowledged us before gave us our bill finally. We were in there way longer than we should have been; your food is good but I have never been so disappointed with our experience as I was today. This place is great! Has a really cool vibe inside and interior design. Furniture and decorations really make for a fun atmosphere. Great for families too. Service is wicked fast, even during the lunch rush. I got the Chimichongo my first time and it was excellent. Next time I got a pair of shrimp burrito and they were fantastic! If I could give zero stars I would say's they're open until 9pm on Apple Maps and 10pm on yelp went in and asked if we could just get a order of tacos to go and they just stared at us and said no we are closed for the night I understand that you close in 10 minutes but we were not asking to sit down and be waited on like the rest of the customers that were still sitting waiting on their food. After a four hour drive in extreme weather conditions my coworker and I were pleased to see Azul Tequila right across the street from our hotel, and they were open on a Sunday night. We were seated immediately (it was pretty dead, probably due to the terrible winter weather) and we got our food quickly. I had a burrito and it was a damn good burrito. Add to that great chips and salsa, and one very large margarita, and I left very satisfied.
