Service was slow, our waiter Christian , had poor body language, like he didn't want to be there and wasn't happy to service us or take our order. Food was not warm when it arrived to the table, my wife needed a knife after food arriving, I had to flag down a different worker maybe manager for a knife, who had to have Christian bring her a simple knife, which was slow. My son has rated this place as having the best chicken quesadillas in the area, so we had to stop in to try the food while we were moving him back into his dorm. The restaurant is beautiful inside, filled with the signature accouterments of Mexican restaurants, but more spacious than most. Our server was fantastic. I ordered the frozen strawberry margarita, and loved it. Great strawberry flavor! The chips were okay and the salsa was loose in texture but had decent flavor; the hot salsa isn't spicy at all, and I say that as someone very sensitive to heat. For my main dish, I had the carne asada tacos, and were they were delicious, the beef has packed with moisture and flavor. My son had his favorite quesadilla, without beans, while my husband loved the quesabirria. My in-laws loved their food; I could see why this is one of their favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. We've eaten here several times over the past 5 years. Most consistent Texas-Mex restaurant around. You will always get the same huge portion and they are great about special requests! If the parking lot is full you can still get a seat. Or sit at the bar, great service there! Quick service, warm chips and cold salsa. I love the Burrito California. My husband tried the nachos this time and was very happy. You can go in in super casual or dressed for a date. Booths are quiet because of the high backs. Wine pours are generous!! We came here as a group of 18 with my extended family to celebrate my Nona's birthday! We were impressed at how well our waiter accommodated a group of this size. He checked on us frequently, was very organized, brought everything out in a timely manner, and even split the checks as we requested! The menu is large, there are so many options and they are all pretty affordable. I got a frozen house marg which was delicious and only $7.99! We split guacamole and white queso as appetizers. I got the carnitas tacos which came with rice and beans for my meal. Everything tasted great! We even had leftovers afterwards to take home. The staff came out to sing for my Nona's birthday and they brought out a sombrero for her to wear! We brought cupcakes and a cake which the staff gladly kept in a fridge for us in the back until we were ready for dessert. I am giving four stars instead of five because Mexican is my favorite type of food and a cuisine I often dine out for. When I compare it to my other favorite 5-star Mexican places, I wouldn't say that the food here meets that same criteria. This use to be one of my favorite restaurants to eat in or take out. The last few time I order take out I was feather disappointed. The Paola Steak I received was well done and they just threw some shredded cheese on there to melt. Rather disappointing. I attached a picture of the steak. I live locally and my family has been coming here for years, I watched them build the building. We've had everything on the menu at least once. In the past year they changed their salsa recipe, which is now terrible and then they shamefully made their salsa containers laughably small. So small you cant even use a full size chip in them (see my pic). They've also started serving everything in small bowls instead of plates so you get half the beans and rice you used to get. They've also downsized their glasses. Carne asada steak tacos were extremely chewy. I think I'm done with Azul. They have sacrificed quality and value for profit. read more

This review is not a reflection of the wait staff or hostess. The staff were incredibly fast and helpful. We were seated quickly. Our drinks were always full and chips plentiful. Great place for some amazing Mexican food! The building was very clean, and decorated beautifully. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bathrooms were clean and tidy. We had margaritas, salsa and queso, and carnitas burritos. Their chips were super crisp, and they have a spicier salsa available if you ask. All our food came out quickly, and tasted great. I ordered carry out chicken fajita dinners and queso blanco with chips. The queso was cold and lumpy. The salad setup had bad greens mixed in with the good and we found an onion in the setup that already had cheese on it which normally doesn't have chees until we introduce it. Additionally, the refried beans were watered down and almost white and we found a black curly hair in one of them. Lastly, the soft tortillas were stuck together and were hard on the edges. I enjoy this place ALOT! They have such fresh ingredients and everything has such a depth of flavor. The prices are a tad higher than some of the other options in town but, trust me when I say the quality makes up for it. They have 2 options for salsa- mild and hot. The hot is not super hot just a nice warm spice. They do have a Diablo sauce that is very spicy, and yummy. The only issue I have is the parking is horrible. When it's a busy night their tiny parking lot is a mess. The only other option is a liquor store across the street. Which requires a left turn into a busy street. read more

Ordered the large guacamole and the Street tacos. Guacamole was different than most every one I've had in my lifetime. Not sure how to describe. Almost like a bagged versus ( not fresh), infused with verde salsa. Not chunky at all and if it had onions, tomatoes or cilantro, they were food processored beyond recognition. They have a large menu. We ordered the lunch chicken chimichangas. It can with a small, and I mean small, amount of refried beans. The rice was fair. The chimichanga was fried well. It came with a cheese sauce, again a small amount. The chicken meat was plentiful with a light Smokey taste and that's it. No seasonings. Also very dry. It was very bland. I had to use our chip salsa to flavor it. Not very good. There were some other plates that came by us , I cannot attest to the taste, but they sure looked good. The fajitas came by steaming hot. Smelled terrific. The tacos looked good too. The ones I saw were packed with ingredients. A word about the chips and salsa. I admit I like my chips thin. Came on a Tuesday night. Busy but not overly crowded. Let's start by pointing out that this lot of land has NO BUSINESS having a restaurant on it. While the restaurant is beautiful, it's way too small and the parking situation is comical. The inside is also gorgeous - it makes you wonder where they came up with the money for this design. A restaurant of these margins can not afford the elaborate decor - it's just suspicious. BUT, let's talk about the experience. I've been here a few times now. Tonight we were greeted by a host on his phone texting while we waited to be acknowledged and seated. Chips and salsa and cheese dip are always good, but we were done with a basket of chips before we received our drinks. Food is also very good and they have a nice mix up variety compared to your standard "fast Mexican" place. Note that the Steven Special is VERY small and comes with a side of steamed veggies.
