"Large" white queso, one bag of chips included, one added as extra.

$12 for THIS. Highest priced Mexican restaurant in town, food is good but service is poor and prices are outrageous. I would avoid this place at all costs, and I've been eating there more than regularly for over 15 years (up until the recent price hikes).

I can't believe I purchased this food last night! I have been to the location in Lowell and I have dined in at that location, but last night I went thru the drive thru and bought the steak nachos and 1 tamal if you want to consider it a tamal!! Will not be going back! I waited like 45 minutes to get these crumbs that cost me like almost $16.00 including my tip! Very disappointed!

One of several Acambaro's in Northwest Arkansas, they all follow the typical standard for Mexican restaurants. Chips and salsa while you review the menu which consists of a variety of chicken, steak, ground beef and pork with an assortment of tortillas and sauces, typically served with rice and beans. We were provided a very large basket of hot chips and individual salsa bowls (hot or mild?) and we also ordered a large bowl of white cheese "queso" for dipping. The chicken taco salad arrived in a large fried tortilla "bowl" and while it had a lot of lettuce, there was also a good amount of chopped chicken in there. The chicken quesadilla also had plenty of chicken with the cheese (though it was focused in the center and not so much at the edges). And the Enchiladas Bandero was one chicken, one steak and one chopped beef with red white and green sauces, served with rice and beans. All of it was good and the drinks were refilled often. For three people, less than $40. Good, filling, fast.

I hadn't been to an Acambaro location in years but I love their chips and salsa and quesadillas so we decided to go and have lunch at this location today. Prices were as cheap as I remember them being and you have to love the decor that really invites you in and sets the atmosphere for great Tex-Mex. The staff greeted and seated us promptly and we quickly had sodas and our free chips and salsa. They have mild and hot choices. I always get both and mix them together for the perfect medium. We started with a bowl of their awesome white queso. So creamy and delicious and not too spicy. I had the chicken quesadilla and a couple of tacos de asada on the side. My daughter requested tacos de pollo (not on the menu) but they were happy to accommodate. All of the food was so good and better than we had remembered. We will be back soon for sure. Please come and give this local eatery your business. Not high class food, but it is delicious quality food at a value price. You will love it!!

Tex Mex style and this location seemed dingy. Other locations I have tried were similar.

Interestingly, they were…read moreplaying Cuban jazz and salsa--pleasant, but I found myself wishing for something like Selena y Los Dinos or Emmanuel Cortes to better match the vibe. The agave spirits selection is underwhelming, though that may be influenced by visiting the day after "Gringo de Mayo." The chips are comparable to standard "restaurant-style" options you'd find at a grocery store. The quesadilla is a bit unusual--there's no integrated mix of cheese and protein. Instead, the components are kept separate, which explains why the menu describes it as "baked." I initially thought that was odd, but it makes more sense now. The ranchero beans are overly salted, with little depth beyond that. While there appear to be other seasonings, they don't come through. The rice is plain and unremarkable.

When we arrived at the hotel late, we wanted to grab a quick dinner and I had eaten at an Abuelo's in Orlando many times. Felt like that was a solid choice for us since we knew it was not a gamble. Rick was our server and he was helpful and friendly. He brought out their trio of salsas with hot tortilla chips that felt like they were made minutes before. Not sure if they are, but they did taste fantastic! I love their queso here, and they had a Diablo one that I hadn't had before but we decided to get the dip trio- queso, Diablo queso, and guacamole. What an epic decision! They came with more tortilla chips but also chicharrones which was sturdier and could hold up to the thicker Diablo queso and guacamole. I couldn't stop eating the salsa and dips. I chose to get a combination plate, with an enchilada, taco, and tamale. Rick mentioned they had a mashed potato side that was tasty- not expected for a Mexican restaurant but I decided to take the recommendation. Rick came through, honestly I could've eaten just the dips and potatoes and had been super happy about it. I overate, which was a problem but in a good way because I fell asleep immediately after we got back to the hotel. We were doing a crazy travel week where we were in 5 states, two countries for meetings, so not a lot of rest. It's part of a chain but this one was clean, friendly, with great execution on the food. Rick was clutch with more salsa and chips which in the end was my undoing but I didn't care. Visit here and make sure you try their dips, and the mashed potato side which may have been one of the best things I had all week. Dead serious! The next time I go I'm going to ask for no rice and beans and just get these crazy mashed potatoes. Thank you Rick and Abuelo's for reminding me that every now and then, going to eat at a chain spot is still a good thing.
