The agave spirits selection is underwhelming, though that may be influenced by visiting the day after "Gringo de Mayo." The chips are comparable to standard "restaurant-style" options you'd find at a grocery store. The quesadilla is a bit unusual--there's no integrated mix of cheese and protein. Instead, the components are kept separate, which explains why the menu describes it as "baked." I initially thought that was odd, but it makes more sense now. The ranchero beans are overly salted, with little depth beyond that. While there appear to be other seasonings, they don't come through. The rice is plain and unremarkable. read more

We love Abuelo's. They went through a down sizing a few years ago when the stores in Carmel, IN, Austin, Memphis , and others was closed and we lost contact. So happy to find one still operating in Rogers, AR. Still as good as we remembered. Looks the same inside - like a time capsule. Food was well prepared, delicious, and hot. Staff were excellent - obviously well informed and trained and our waiter, genuinely interested in guest care and comfort. Hopefully we will be back this way again soon!! read more

We were in town for a meeting at the largest employer in NW Arkansas, I'm sure you can guess who that is. When we arrived at the hotel late, we wanted to grab a quick dinner and I had eaten at an Abuelo's in Orlando many times. Felt like that was a solid choice for us since we knew it was not a gamble. Rick was our server and he was helpful and friendly. He brought out their trio of salsas with hot tortilla chips that felt like they were made minutes before. Not sure if they are, but they did taste fantastic! I love their queso here, and they had a Diablo one that I hadn't had before but we decided to get the dip trio- queso, Diablo queso, and guacamole. What an epic decision! They came with more tortilla chips but also chicharrones which was sturdier and could hold up to the thicker Diablo queso and guacamole. I couldn't stop eating the salsa and dips. I chose to get a combination plate, with an enchilada, taco, and tamale. Rick mentioned they had a mashed potato side that was tasty- not expected for a Mexican restaurant but I decided to take the recommendation. Rick came through, honestly I could've eaten just the dips and potatoes and had been super happy about it. I overate, which was a problem but in a good way because I fell asleep immediately after we got back to the hotel. We were doing a crazy travel week where we were in 5 states, two countries for meetings, so not a lot of rest. It's part of a chain but this one was clean, friendly, with great execution on the food. Rick was clutch with more salsa and chips which in the end was my undoing but I didn't care. Visit here and make sure you try their dips, and the mashed potato side which may have been one of the best things I had all week. Dead serious! The next time I go I'm going to ask for no rice and beans and just get these crazy mashed potatoes. Always good food, albeit pretty pricey but that's to be expected. Great place for family or work gatherings.

First of all, we love the atmosphere! Staff is always pleasant and friendly. The restaurant is clean inside and out, including the bathrooms! There is something for everyone on the menu! You can order a la cart, or even share a dish or two...and did I mention the desserts?! They are so good and big enough to share! We love the tres leche cake! WOW! You always get plenty of food...usually enough to take home for another meal! Complimentary chips and 3 dipping salsas are always a hit! Now for Mexican food, it is a bit pricey, but overall it's a great family place to enjoy some yummy food and good company! read more

First off a place that calls itself a Mexican Restaurant Embassy is pretty darn pretentious. Perhaps that is why it feels it can charge what I found to be some of the highest prices for typical Mexican fare at a chain restaurant. We skipped the drinks since they had no prices for any of them - really annoying. The complimentary chips and the salsa sampler were very good. We both ordered the two piece enchilada platter. I got the cheese and beef and my wife the chicken and avocado enchiladas. All were very tasty. One nit - I did not like that they pretty much mixed the rice into the refried beans which made it hard to separate them (I did not care to eat all of the beans). Our server was friendly and efficient. This was a good choice given the typical chain options that were in the neighborhood of our hotel. read more

We were very kind, but the waitress seemed to have this chip on her shoulder, like she wanted to pick a fight. She was very rude. Maybe she was just having a bad day. I don't know. Fancy and not cheap Mexican food with a glossy menu and lots of Americanized items listed. Service was super friendly as I was early for my dinner meeting and spent a half hour at the bar with a beer where the bartender brought me warm chips and their three salsas while I waited. It wasn't busy but I did their call-ahead seating and it did a great job of keeping me informed and texted when the table was ready. We were seated in a corner booth that was quite comfortable. A friendly waiter took our orders and brought drinks. Dinner didn't take too long to be prepared and was served with help from a tray-carrying robot. Pretty slick! Enchiladas in rachero sauce and served with what they call "Papas con Chile" but is basically spicy mashed potatoes. The plate was tasty and definitely hot from the broiler. I was seated at the bar which I don't normally like. However, I came when it was busy and I didn't feel like waiting. The red salsa here is really good. I loved the tomato salsa. You can taste the peppers that were ground up in the salsa and it had just the right amount of heat. The green Chile salsa was good too. Though I thought it has a little sugar in it which was ok I ordered the three beef tamales with refried beans and cilantro lime rice. The three tamales were excellent. They were a little small but the texture of the beef was smooth and ground up. I actually liked the texture. It also had just the right amount of heat. What I didn't like was that they melted cheese over the top, which made them dry. However, I put that amazing salsa over the top of it which made them taste really good! I think if this has some enchilada or Chile verde sauce on top it would take it to another level. I wasn't a fan of the Chile lime rice or the refried beans. They just didn't go with my tamales. It was my first time here a couple of weeks ago and I was wowed right when I walked in the door. I loved the aesthetic of the place. It feels like you're in a courtyard in Playa Del Carmen! They have a huge menu, but I was excited to try the dip trio which included queso, salsa and guacamole. Their spicy salsa was fantastic!! I ordered the vegetarian chile rellenos and was so happy with my choice. This is a spot I will remember when I come back often. Such great food and amazingly friendly staff. read more

I ordered the Fajita Chimichanga and it looked nothing like the picture in the menu , it was smothered in cheese sauce and very bland. The beans were very dry like they were a fee days old, Albueno's has been my favorite Mexican restaurant in Rogers for several years but is now at the bottom of my list. sorry to say. Abuelos has gone downhill since it first opened years ago. I have been coming with my family for probably 15 years and we used to go at least twice a month. I do enjoy the physical location and the staff is always nice. The queso, for me, is the most redeemable part of this restaurant. It has good pricing, but there are plenty of other better restaurants to go to for Mexican food. Which is a bummer because it used to be amazing. read more

Best Fajitas in the area get the trio steak, chicken and shrimp and if you hit the right night they will double the steak on some nights for free. Excellent salsas and get the Diablo queso ...it rocks! Excellent service to boot. read more

Been here in the past . It used to be pretty good, but now it's below average in food quality & service, while the prices are high. They've elevated the menu design and the description of the food items to make them sound premium. They're not. They are over priced. My food came out crusted over from sitting under the warmers. Oh, and it was lovingly delivered by a service ROBOT. Margaritas lacked flavor. My wife's salad had a stale taste. (Likely the shell) . Our waiter was kind, and she felt ' new' . Not her fault on the food quality, but probably on the service . We DID NOT take home leftovers. We went there today because we had not been there in about 5 years, and remembered a good experience from a more elevated restaurant. Not any more. Unfortunately, no plans to return. Not worth it AT ALL. We usually go to Las Fajitas. They are more fairly priced and the food is significantly better. They may not have the ambiance of Abuelos, but the food is much better. read more

We were visiting family in Rogers, Arkansas. From their perspective, they think Abuelo's is the best in the city! I am gonna be honest-this might hurt a little and leave a mark. I also want to say that a star for a Mexican Restaurant in Rogers, Arkansas is probably two stars in a larger city. Very pleasant wait staff. However, food quality was a -1 star. Cold queso made from velveta rotel, chips that are store bought, and horrible refined beans. The enchiladas were indescribable, not in a good way.. Another guest had $20 fajitas, the meat was so well done and lacked seasoning that in no way resembled a fajita. Respectfully, I am gonna stop there, I could go on and on about the sub par food, you know it's true. I am being honest about the review and I hope it gets better in the future. But for my money? I know Abuelo's is a chain but I really enjoy their food. The guacamole is fresh and chips are crisp. Plus, during happy hour the guac is $5. Also $5 were the standard margaritas which really hit the spot. I ate in the bar area at a high top but felt included in the restaurant vibe. My meal was excellent and serving size was just right. The Chili Relleno's were wonderful. I changed up the tomato based sauce for the sour cream one. Made them extra cheesy.
