First time here for lunch. The place is well decorated, clean and spacious. I was seated quickly, had chips and salsa on the table immediately and met by my server. The chips and salsa were good and I ordered number 11 on the lunch menu which included a beef taco, chicken enchilada, beans and rice. My favorite was the enchilada, the meat was excellent as was the white cheese sauce. The taco was good but was overwhelmed by sour cream and the beans and rice were okay. The first impression was positive as they had my beer choice, Dos XX Amber, and it's cold. Chips and salsa are both fresh. The mild salsa is as named, mild, no heat, but if that's what you go for, you'd probably like it. The hot has better flavor. I prefer more cilantro, but I guess they're going for a wider appeal. I ordered the Torado, a combo with a fajita beef burrito and a taquito. The burrito had good flavor but was spicy, so not for anyone that's against heat. The fajita steak was also kind of tough. Was not a fan. The white cheesedip was not what I was expecting. Instead of it being the delicious creamy taste I'm use to when ordering cheesedip from most Mexican restaurants, it was tangy, slightly sour tasting. Kinda like monetary jack cheese but way too much of it. It had a sickeningly sour taste but also kinda sweet, really was not for me. Then I ordered the shredded chicken chimichanga. Again not my favorite. I didn't notice when ordering so this was more on me, but it has cheese and rice mixed in with the chicken. I had asked for the cheese sauce on the side and I'm glad I did because not knowing there would be cheese on the inside it was just WAY too much. There was so much cheese I ended up cutting it open and scraping everything off the chicken. It also was not crispy more bread-yy. Really did not like it. I was SO disappointed because the place looks so nice and clean. But honestly the chimi reminded me of those frozen burritos you put in the microwave and especially for the price, I just really expected more or, I guess different? Last time I came to Maria's was right after they opened back up from the virus. I wasn't to happy at that time, but yes they have officially restored my faith in them! Took a friend there for a birthday and yummy that was some good food, im here to tell you!! Can't beat the food here from Maria's. Came in a while back and the food here is excellent. I wanted a few tacos and this place definitely delivered. The tacos were as good as it gets. Benton County must be the capital (or at least one of the capitals) of Mexican food. It's not just that there are a lot of them, it's that most of them are really quite good. Maria's is one of the better ones. Located on Walnut Street, a couple of blocks down from the Wal-Mart, there is plenty of parking. Large dining room with mostly four-top tables and they don't mind pushing a couple of them together for larger parties. Lunch specials range from $5 to $8 and include the usual variety of tortillas (corn or flour), meat (chicken, beef, carnitas) or spinach, and cheese with some sort of sauce on top plus rice and beans. Frequent eater at Marias here. Aggressive manager and Poorly handled customer service just ended this. Food is fine but has a tendency to up charge you like a cheap massage parlor. When we brought the bill to the attention of our waitress at the register and kindly asked her to please change the price to the price on the menu... she stated that a manager would have to...so here comes the manager... Manager came out hostile!? (Not sure why) it was over a measly $1. She said she didnt want to fix it. She said thats what you ordered and insulted me by stating "you are just cheap". I said we eat here a lot and please make this right because your decision is going to affect if we keep frequenting this establishment. Manager kept telling our waitress at the register that we are cheap people and our waitress was trying to explain to her that we have a valid point. Manager wanted to continue to rob us and was mad changing it and said to never come back. Pretty sad for our community and i will kindly let my friends know too. WOW! This is a very small community Rogers and Bentonville as you know and robbing loyal customers from our neighborhoods then treating them like trash is unacceptable. I go to Maria's all the time and this time I decided to switch my order. I typically get 3 chicken enchiladas for $8.99 and saw an option to choose 2 for $8.50, so I went with that one. Little did I know; that was the lunch menu and after 3pm, it adds $1.50. So I paid $10.00 for 2 enchiladas when on the other side of the menu, they offer 3 enchiladas for $8.99. Our server failed to inform us of this when taking our order. When checking out, we asked if they could switch it and charge for the cheaper meal and the server refused and got the manager. When the manager came out, she repeatedly called us cheap and told us never to come back. I was confused why we had to pay MORE for LESS food when the server didn't respectfully inform us of the better option, as I was clearly misunderstanding the menu. On the WAY to Maria's to eat we saw a different place and considered stopping but said verbatim "We're loyal to Maria's. We can't go there." and this is apparently how they treat their loyal customers. By insulting them and telling them to never come back. Came in happy, left extremely disappointed. So I am From Emporia Kansas And My family And I decided to eat at a mexican restaurant today since we came here for a little vacation at beaver lake so they choose Maria's September 9 2019 at 11:00 am. They sat us right away and the server came and asked for what we wanted to drink and she took probably like 5-10 min to bring the drinks and she took our order right away, we asked for guacamole and cheese dip, she made the guacamole in front of us that was awesome, and the cheese dip was amazing. I ordered camarones ala diabla and they were alright they were a little salty, my sister ordered a burrito and she said she loved it but it was hard to eat because the tortilla was hard and cold. The service is very slow. We came in as a group of 5 at 6:30 we sat for more than 10 minutes and no waiter. Finally he came out and took our drink orders and just everything took forever. I got a shrimp cocktail and when they brought it out it was really light and it was mostly water so we told the waiter that it wasn't right and he took it back and brought out a new one and said they went light on the ketchup.... well ok. The second time was better. My husband got the hugo special (same as the Steven's special) and his food was less than luke warm but thankfully for them he doesn't like his food piping hot so he didn't bother returning it. The waiter didn't check in often enough and just took way too long every time we asked for something he would take 5-10minutes to complete the task when he should have just done it quickly and came back. It was not busy, and I've been a waitress before and it's just bad service all around. My son also left a small toy on the table and I went back in less than 5 minutes after we left and of course it was no where to be found but when I asked them about it they were not helpful at all. I know it's not their responsibility to keep up with my sons toys but the reaction when I told them he left it is what I'm going on and it was less than satisfactory to say the least. After all the hype I heard about this place, I was pretty excited to have this for dinner last Thursday night. In the end, though, I was really disappointed. The 'Pancho Special' consisted of one cheese enchilada (in chili sauce), one chicken enchilada (in sour cream sauce), rice and beans. When I opened up the take-out container, it was all mixed together and nothing looked that appetizing. However, I reluctantly dug in, but still wasn't that impressed. I used to come to Maria's at least once a week with my family, friends, business acquaintances for years. In the last few years they have done a lot of renovations and added a bar even. What they have NOT done is address the attitude of the staff. Everyone can have a bad day that is a given, but when you frequent an establishment and repeatedly get insulted by the ladies that are supposed to be representing the place it is time to divest. This time was the last time to try again. We walked in and waited to be seated for at least 5 minutes with several of the staff standing behind the counter staring at us not even greeting us. Finally, my husband decided he would just grab a table. I knew that with the covid restrictions that could be a problem and I saw that the woman behind the counter who for whatever strange reason refused to come out from behind it to greet us/seat us was now really paying attention and so I asked her if we should seat ourselves out of courtesy (more than was given to us). She stated that she had asked us how many 2 or 3 times. I guess I have my answer. She is wearing a mask not speaking up and unwilling to come out from behind the counter to be heard or even seat us which is what would have to happen if she actually intended to seat us. We left. The queso was creamy and mild, the mild salsa had good flavor and the chips were crispy and fresh. The chili sauce on the enchiladas was delicious, I would have wanted more shredded cheese but it was still good. My soft drink tasted flat but that's ok, I'll get water or tea next time. It's not often that I decide to treat myself to a dinner out. But I decided I wanted fajitas. So I stopped at Maria's in Rogers and ordered the Chorizo fajitas. Suppose to be chorizo, steak and chicken... almost no chorizo, the steak is tough and chicken is mediocre. And then the young guy that is my waiter, is more interested in the 8 top table by me. Placed a glass of water at my elbow as he passed my table instead of in front of me. Won't even hardly look me in the eye. Sad for him, I usually tip really good for good service. Went to Maria's as I was with a group from work. Apparently they visit here a lot. I have a pretty high standard when it comes to Mexican and Maria's was a little weak. As I have said in previous reviews, the salsa tells the story. Well this story didn't go well. The salsa was bland (mild) and didn't have any flavor. I had the combo fajitas and they were ok. There were several servers by the cash register and it took quite a while before a waitress came. The taco salad shell was stale and should have been fresh. Food is nothing special. After raising their food prices they haven't increased their food quality or quantity. Place is usually dirty with window seals filled with dead flies. Food is terrible! Salsa is gross... Cheese dip is really watery (blanco and chile con queso). Refried beans taste canned as well as the enchilada sauce, definitely tastes canned. Yuck! Seriously would've been better off going to Taco Bell! Even the tea was watered down.
