Either the cooks changed or the owners gave up. Everything is noticeably diffrent in the worst way. Prices skyrocketed and food turned nasty. Worst rice I ever tasted. Food is NOT GOOD. Save your $$$ abd go elsewhere ​ read more

I went in here to get Mexican food. I didn't realize that's not what they served. They have no margaritas or any alcohol in general. The waiter was too busy on his phone and customers were coming up asking for their bill while he was texting. I was looking like are you coming over and taking our order? I wanted to start off with an appetizer of chips and queso cheese. He brought me half a bag of chips, a little cup of salsa and shredded white cheese. At this point, I realize that my Saturday fun date night was being ruined. We got up paid $10 for those nasty chips that we never ate and walked out. What a great find! Cute little spot on a highway next to a gun shop in Oneonta NY. Everything was freshly made to order and amazing! Started with fabulous guacamole and chips and then moves to sopes and burritos. Awesome. No alcoholic l but plenty of tasty non alcoholic options including the tasty pineapple water. I never want to leave a bad review. I've worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years. I'm a foody. I know good food. Unfortunately, I didn't get that experience at azuls. The tamales and quesadillas were inedible. I didn't say anything. Just paid my bill and went on my way. I hope they can recover and offer better dishes. read more

The first time we had Azul, it was in a different location. Then the food was amazing. Recently we went to the new location and the food was subpar. What was a quant place became loud and tack. The Tacos al Pastor were especially great, with grilled pineapple, cilantro, and a tasty mildly-spicy red sauce on the side (very generous portion of the tender pork, also) We sat outside and the service was very friendly. My partner had the tamales and the mole was very good. They also have Jarritos & Mexican coffee--definitely one of the best places to eat in Oneonta. read more

First off, we ordered the chops and pico. We were so surprised to have tasted a mango pineapple pico which was so amazing. It had all my favorite flavors with the fruit, red onion and cilantro. I ordered the pestor pork tacos and my husband had pork tamales. OMG!! My tacos were huge and so amazingly delicious. Again, the flavors were fresh and so yummy. I could only eat one and had leftovers for another meal. My husband loved his tamales and shared the same wonderful flavors and presentation. We were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant as we thought a small place in the old Oneonta mall. Trust me it's worth every penny to come and try their food. Great vibe, Great service I only hope with time they stay open later till at least 9pm on weekends. Service is always great, friendly staff. There isn't anything on the menu that disappoints. If you want some of the best cakes in the county, get their tres leches or coffee cake. We're so happy they moved into the mall where they will get more business. Not many Mexican options in the area, but this is by far the best! read more

I was over the moon when Azul opened in Oneonta, as it was so hard to find authentic Mexican food (I lived in LA for 20 years...it's been rough on the food options front). Their food is fresh and delicious. I've been multiple times. The chilaquiles, enchiladas, tacos, tamales, burrito (the chicken one is epic)...all delicious. Recently they added sopes - YAY! - they make me happy and I'm getting them again today. They also have churros, horchata, and jamaica - all tasty. The empanadas are made with puff pastry instead of a traditional flakey crust, BUT, that means they are bigger and the filling is quite delicious. I really like their salsas as well. Anyway - both dining and take-out are good. I hope they stay open for a long time. You should go... :) read more

I've been searching for a good Mexican style restaurant in the area for a very long time and I've tried a few out, but none have met my expectations until coming to Azul. Very quaint small family restaurant with very good dishes. Clean atmosphere with cultural decor. I wanted to order multiple items off of the menu and now I have a reason to come back. The food here was more than I could have expected. This is a wonderful place to eat with the kindest people. Coming to college and missing the food from home was hard but going to Azul brought the taste of home right back. The food always goes above my expectations. I really wanted to love this place since I love Mexican food but as a vegetarian, the options here are terrible. They use canned veggies in their meals, not fresh. There is no option for a cheese quesadilla or even shrimp options like a shrimp quesadilla or shrimp empanadas. I like the guacamole but that is about it. Plus, the tables are always gross and dirty. If there were more food options for non meat eaters I might try again. read more

What a disappointment. Really wanted to give them a chance, but almost everything was a miss. I came in with a friendly "Hi, how are you?" The guy said "Good." Then just stared at me like he was annoyed I was there. Okaayyyyyy. He finally directed us to the large menu posted on the wall, so we chose our meals and sat down at a dirty table. We had to make a special request for the table to be cleaned (as we watched our neighbors wipe the table off with their sleeves). The carnitas quesadilla is only pork and cheese, so if you love a dense meat tortilla, this is for you. I was full after 5 or so bites. The heavy and soggy chicken burrito has neither red peppers or Mexican rice as the menu states. When we asked about the missing peppers, we were told the menu has a mistake. "How about the Mexican rice?" "Oh, that's a mistake too" he says. "Maybe you should cross those items off the description, or tell people" I say. He ignores me and goes on to charge the full price for a dish missing half the described contents. I should have listened to my teen daughter when we went in - she didn't want to eat there bc it was dirty and gross. I really want to support small local businesses, but really people - a little basic cleanliness, friendly courtesy, and menu honesty goes a long way. Fix those problems and maybe we'll try again. read more
